  1. You are completely right and I understand what you are saying, but in a way, your specs ca determine if you can play a bluray movie. For example, I know that, as you said, modern computers, even the really low-end ones can probably play a bluray if equipped with a drive, but If you take, for example, a graphics card and/or processor from say, the 80's or something or a graphics card/processor from when computers first reached the home, they will most likely not play a bluray. On my desktop, I also clean-installed (upgrade) windows 7. It wasn't supported by Sony for the upgrade from Vista and so I couldn't find a driver for it's Nvidia card (the ones on the Nvidia site didn't work for some reason). I even tried playing a simple video and the video was literally playing at around 6 FPS; this isn't necesarily a low spec problem, but it does show how graphics card and maybe even processors play a role in playing back videos (I you are wondering, I eventually found a working sort of hacked driver, which has been working to this day). Of course as I and you said before, practically any computer nowadays can play a bluray movie if equipped with a disc, and I completely understand what you are saying, but in my opinion, the specs do matter (of course, nowadays they really make no difference, but in all they do mater from my experiences.Anyways, do you guys think I can run HD video with my specs and SSD benchmarks? Also can someone clarify my driver problem to see if maybe that will help (even if it turns out my specs aren't sufficient, I would still like to try the driver to see what that will do, so anyone who knows what driver that SSD uses, please tell me).
  2. Wow, great video, thanks; some of those pictures I hadn't even seen.Alfredo Terrero
  3. Just in case I was wrong, are these normal benchmarks for an SSD?
  4. I have a Sony Vaio, and one of the things that I bought it for was HD, it was even advertised for that. Anyways, I have a core 2 duo t9800 @2.93ghz. Ati Mobility Radeon 3650 with 512 mb of VRam. 8 gb of DDR2 Ram @ 800mhz, and the SSD. It has a bluray player (I know this has nothing to do with the SSD, but I say this to show that my graphics card and processor can handle playing HD video.) It must be the SSD because the camcorder plays back the video in HD with a standard harddrive and it performs well. On a side note, just to be sure, it is not that the HD video stutters so badly that it isn't watchable, no, only sometimes it slightly stutters, but I didn't used to have this problem before I had to clean installl windows and had the original driver for my SSD. Also, I know the SSD benches fine like I said, but the thing it does well in in the test is the sequential read and write, but during random read and write, it doesn't perform how an SSD should perform.
  5. I run FSX on a laptop with this model Samsung SSD: MMDOE28G5MPP-0VA. I upgraded from windows Vista to 7 (not clean upgrade), but I later had a problem with my antivirus and had to do a clean install. Now, I have the default Microsoft driver for this SSD and it is not performing correctly. I did a benchmark test with CrystalDiskMark, and got results similar to the benchmarks my SSD should get, according to Samsung. Unfortunately, I recorded airplanes at my airport's aircraft viewing area, but my SSD doesn't perform correctly when playing back HD video recorded with HD camcorder (video plays find on camcorder which has a regular hard drive, but the video tends to lag sometimes when playing back on my laptop with SSD.) I suspect this is due to me not having the correct driver. Does anyone know the name of the driver for this SSD so I can get optimal performance? I have been doing research and have seen things like the Intel AHCI and Intel Matrix Storage Manager. Can someone please tell me if these are the drivers I need to install, and if not, which are the drivers I need to install.Thanks.
  6. Yeah, you are right. I too have been in KFLL and KMIA and it is true, now that I think about it, that not all gates are filled. I even looked at this via google maps today.
  7. Okay thank you very much airindia. I am now assured that my ai is working fine even with 100% density. It still puzzles me how people on Youtube can have practically all of their gates filled except for one or two with WOAI traffic at 100%. I guess that they just have more airlines installed than you and me. Anyways, thanks that you added that picture and I'm glad both are problems are completely fixed.
  8. I'm glad your problem was fixed and thanks for the picture. I'm sorry to be a bother, but can you post another picture of Kfll but with traffic set to 100%. Thanks, I would appreciate this because, as I said before, my problem got fixed but I'm still getting less traffic than what I had in fs9, and I would like to rectify if my traffic quantity is normal too. I suspect it is, but I would like you to please post a picture at KFLL with traffic at 100% so I can see how much traffic you have in comparison to me so I can be completely sure mine is working fine.Thanks.
  9. The thing is is that I'm running on a laptop, so for not being a gaming laptop or a desktop, I think the hardware is actually pretty good for being a laptop. I can run FSX with Ultra High settings and get 15-20+ FPS at airports, depending how complex they are, and I get around 60-80 FPS while flying (I have limited this to 30 with FPS limiter). Will I really struggle with NGX?
  10. I know it is too early to say, but how frame-rate friendly are PMDG's planes. For example, around how many FPS do you guys get with the MD-11 compared to a default FSX aircraft, and will I be around how many frames will I get (on the ground while at an airport, not in the air flying) with these system specs and FSX graphics at Ultra High?:core 2 duo @2.93 GHz8 Gb DDR2 RAMATI Mobility Radeon 3650 with 512MB of VRAM128 GB SSD drive.Thanks.
  11. This is interesting. To me, the only different ones from the U.S. were in the U.K.. I had never seen the Greek ones before.
  12. Okay, I am happy your problem if being fixed. Now, when you have your airlines installed can you do me a favor and post another picture of you at KFLL and please post the time and date so I can compare with my sim. This is because,as you may know, I had a problem similar to yours and, as I said, I seem to have fixes it, but my traffic is still less than what I had in FSX, so I will like to use your picture to compare.Thanks.
  13. Why do airports like Heathrow have a different style of touchdown markers? Also, does anyone know how to add them into FSX via airport design editor? The default Heathrow has these different touchdown markers, how are these added? Here is a picture of them to show what I mean:
  14. Opa, you're suggestions are welcome, as you were very helpful when you helped me. Yes, there is a way to do this. Open up the WOAI installer. Press next. Choose FSX as your target sim. Click expert at the bottom. The click on the airlines and on the left panel, click delete airline. Then install the airlines again. (I deleted and re-downloaded the installer when I had this problem. I know the installer probably wasn't faulty but I downloaded a new one, just in case, to start everything anew.)On a side note, as Opa said, I know you said that your BGL's are in the correct place, but are you sure that when you open the WOAI installer your path to FSX is correct, and also it says simobjects/airplanes under FSX subfolder entry?
  15. It's no problem to me helping you, the only problem is that I'm running out of Ideas. The only thing I can think (besides doing a repair of FSX or completely reinstalling it), is to re-install your ai packages again (later converting the BGL's to FSX format so you won't lose boat traffic, etc. and for full compatibility to ensure no problems.) I say this because sometimes it seems the WOAI installer doesn't install packages correctly, at least in my case. When I installed Continental Airlines, I kept on getting a message when I started FSX that the planes the continental airlines BGL used couldn't be found. I also couldn't see Continental Airlines in the sim. I re-installed the package, still the same problem. Finally, I re-installed the Continental Airlines package again and I got no more error messages and could see the Continental ai in the sim. So, before re-installing the game, I would recommend re-installing the packages. Make sure you are running the WOAI installer as an administrator, either by righ-clicking and selecting run as... and then clicking administrator, or by the method I described in the steps. Keep on posting to see if I can keep on helping, but also try going to the WOAI forums and asking there as I did when I had your problem, although, no one really was able to help me and I fixed the problem by re-installing the sim.Good luck, keep me informed to see if you've made progress or if you have any questions/suggestions I can further make.
  16. Okay I just remembered that WOAI doesn't support DX10 so make sure you have that disabled. Also, the WOAI aircraft don't show up during the daytime because they don't support one of the shadow options during the day. Try disabling DX10 preview and/or going to an airport during the night time. I'll get back to you on the option you have to disable.Okay, you have to go to in FSX to settings>aircraft, and make sure you have both aircraft casts shadows on the ground and aircraft casts shadows on itself disabled. WOAI planes don't support this feature. A way to check if this is the problem is opening up in the sim at nightime.
  17. Does anyone remember the website someone brought up some days ago that was portuguese, I think, that had all of the NGX pictures that are on this forum, but in one place?
  18. Air India, here is a picture of my FSX at the airport KFLL with 100% traffic sliders:Please post an overhead picture if you can of you at this airport at 6:14 PM today june 22nd. Also, you can notice that one terminal is completely empty. It eventually will get some aircraft as the AI aircraft land, but it is not filled I think because FSX doesn't support the "burst" AI traffic effect that I told you yesterday about. Anyways, please post an overhead picture of you at this airport at the time and date so I can compare with mine.*I have all General Aviation WOAI packages + these main ones that serve KFLL:Spririt AirlinesSouthwest AirlinesAirtran AirwaysDeltaJetblueContinentalAmerican airlinesAir JamaicaU.S. airwaysUnitedWestJet
  19. So from what I understand, you only had the default aircraft and no WOAI. Are you sure you placed the converted files in the root FSX>scenery>world>scenery folder? What renaming the file does is eliminate the default FSX traffic (the sim can't read them anymore until you erase the .bak file extension). That is why you didn't see any more default aircraft once renaming it. Once again, this is optional; if you want, you can keep the default aircraft. Can you post a picture of your aircraft at this airport- KFLL, so I can compare with my sim. Make sure you have your O.S. set to display file extensions, not to hide them as Vista and 7 do, for ease of explanation.
  20. Do you try running the program as an administrator via the option I told you? If that did not work try right clicking on the application and selecting run as... and select administrator. If that does not work try closing FSX. Maybe the program can't access any FSX files if it is open. One question, did you install FSX in the default location? If not can you tell me where you installed it. If what I previously said works, then don't tell me. Keep on posting so I can see if you have any more problems.
  21. 1. Download the program ai flight planner at the link I provided.2. Extract the contents of the downloaded folder (extract to desktop so windows automatically puts the contents into a new, uncompressed folder.)3. To ensure no problems in windows 7 or vista, right click on the application (.exe) Ai Flight Planner, in the folder you extracted. Click on properties, then compatibility, and check the option "run this program as an administrator." (This will allow you to run the application as an administrator every time.)4. Run the application.5. In the application go to files>convert fs9 traffic files to fsx.6. Navigate to your main FSX install folder. Once here, go to scenery>world>scenery, to find the WOAI traffic BGL files.7. There is an option that says add FSX suffix to the converted FSX traffic files. You can check this if you want to keep the default fs9-format WOAI traffic files and the converted ones and want to identify which one is which, but what I do is uncheck this, and place the converted files in the root FSX folder>scenery>world>scenery. This way, the converted files will automatically replace the previous FS9 format ones which I don't need.8. Once you click convert, you will have to navigate to the place where you want to place the converted files in. As I said, I just place them in the root FSX folder>scenery>world>scenery folder. You have to eventually place them here so the sim can read them. That is why I uncheck the FSX suffix option, because you have to eventually place the converted BGL files in the root FSX folder>scenery>world>scenery. If you leave the FSX suffix, then the old fs9 format files won't be deleted and the sim will just read the FS9 files over the FSX ones. So you either have to do what I do, move the old fs9 format traffic files to another location once you have converted them to FSX format, or, once you have converted them to FSX format, delete them so the sim will read the FSX ones.9. You might notice that since the traffic files are in FSX format, the default FSX traffic will appear. If you only want real traffic, rename the file trafficAircraft.bgl to trafficAircraft.bgl.bak, so the sim won't read them.If you have any questions on the steps, ask me.
