P3D V2.3 Beta 2 Testing
Thanks for keeping us informed, Rob. The video is very impressive and it's excellent to see LM using phased betas as well as involving experts such as yourself. Like many, I am keen to get in the air with 2.3 but judging by the visible improvements made from the last beta, it's going to be well worth the wait however long that turns out to be. Can I just also say thanks for sharing your P3D settings... after two frustrating months battling 2.2 to find the sweet spot on my system, I tried your settings and they have totally revolutionised my experience.

Prepar3d forum down? Again?
Yes, for me the three issues I most want fixed (all still on the pending list) are the multiple textures loading, planes bouncing on runways and boat pitch problems. They are making great progress though and hopefully by the end of the month everything on that list will be resolved.

Nice default places to fly while waiting for addons?
An excellent idea for a thread! I'll definitely give that Glacier Park flight a try.

P3D V2 Straw Poll
I had P3D 1.x and am now on 2.0. It's an outstanding achievement and I'm very impressed with almost everything about it, but am holding back from a full migration until a couple of patches down the line, due to issues and the present incompatibilities with addons. At the moment my P3D is default, apart from FSGlobal Ultimate, FlyTampa Dubai and Dino's Goshawk all of which are compatible. I still maintain FSX for the sake of all my existing addons but have found it very hard to go back to after experiencing P3D. I fly almost exclusively in P3D.

SimLauncher workaround for P3D2
Yes, you do have that choice (I'm also not currently using it due to the black screen issue). P3D's Scenario Setup looks very nice and it's fantastic they included it but SimLauncher has many more options available for setting up flights. I also don't like the way Scenario Setup lists the aircraft based on the title= field in aircraft.cfg rather than manufacturer, type, variation, which makes for a messy list if you have a lot of aircraft and repaints installed. SimLauncher isn't as nice visually but I still prefer it as in my opinion, it's more functional. Good to be able to have a choice though!

SimLauncher workaround for P3D2
SimLauncher by Maarten Boelens - popular freeware FSX/P3D launcher. I'm sure Maarten will update his package to support P3Dv2, but for now here's a workaround: 1. Run Pete Dowson's MakeRwys in your P3Dv2 root folder. 2. Copy SimLauncher.flt from FSX saved flights folder to P3Dv2 saved flights folder. DO NOT SAVE THIS FLIGHT IN P3Dv2, IT MUST REMAIN AS AN .FLT FILE. 3. Select SimLauncher.flt as the default flight in P3D. 4. Set up P3Dv2 paths in SimLauncher. You'll need to manually set the configuration folder, scenery.cfg folder and saved flights folder. 5. Use SimLauncher as normal.
