@Lorby_SI Thank you very much for the excellent tutorial on scenery. I gave it a try last night and it worked, sort of.....lol One area I am having trouble is the Shetland Islands using Earth Simulations great scenery pack. I think the install is ok --scenery.cfg-, etc. Scenery is great but when approaching airport -Sumburgh-dir-501 Fsx crashes and hangs. Remove bgl file, airport gone-only photo scenery left, but on approach still hangs? Any more ideas would be appreciated. btw, what do the cvx files do? Thanks again I'll be back...

Hello and Thanks, Guys! No, I haven't looked at these yet but will now. Main reason for sticking with Fsx is the previous purchases of Orbx packs and as I said several France photo sceneries as well as some of my favourite aircraft.

Hi, simmers! Such an unusual request? Here's why. I really like to fly using photo scenery because I am a senior/age pilot and can't afford to fly for real. So I have quite a few countries and states and this is my holiday using FSX. No checked baggage problems. lol I don't take off or land, just explore. Every so often an airport runway-fsx style shows up and spoils the realism. I would rather see the airport from the photo. So, my tweaking friends, is there a dir or file that I can rename or remove sometimes to stop all airports from showing up. I've searched and can't find it but there must be some way. Like in scenery..cfg just turn off a dir would be great, then turn it back on later. Any ideas Please? Thank you all in advance....

To all of you, thanks heaps for the hints. After no reply from MSE I am presently dl the Italy freeware. Looked at one area with viewer and am impressed. How low can I fly with crisp images? I don't have any MSE outside the US but from the comments I've seen everywhere don't think I missed much. I'm mostly a mountain flyer anyways. Thanks again......

Hi Simmers A few days ago I got an email from MSE promoting that Italy is available for purchase. I am interested in getting it. Then yesterday I got another email from them regarding specials and new products. Italy was shown at a price of 16.99 maybe an intro special? I tried to buy it but the price comes up at 39.95 in the cart so no go! My question is did anyone here receive a coupon to use for this? I didn't. Hi simmers, I have been trying to follow the startup in the manual and one of the points mention 'Set elevators to the Take-off Position'. Does this control lock the yoke for take-off or is the yoke just manually moved to control the elevators as we would normally do. Is there a key or lever for this? Thanks for any help on this, please!

Hi Simmers As the title says I am looking for a great panel with a classic wood background, burl or birch, etc. Obviously this would probably come from an older classic aircraft. Tried a search but no luck so far, probably have to search via aircraft name. Aircraft size doesn't matter.. Any suggestions would be helpful. Just a wood lover. Thanks in advance.

Hi Simmers Be careful what we wish for! MS have 'given' us a great Alaska for next to nothing - imho. Now we are sitting here all on cloud 9 flying our 'old' aircraft with our wallets half open and credit cards still on the mouse pad. Now, if MS had 4 or 5 good bush planes in their pocket with 2 prices, with or without cockpit, they'd have us by the short and currly's. lol My wallet would certainly take a hit and MS would laugh all the way to the bank....rotflol

First, thank you all for your replies and hints.I tried them all without success, however I installed the fsx sdk which lead to more confusion. lolAfter pulling my hair out I got to view the landclass bgl file with the TM.. Viewerand clicked on these textures.this gave me this info:The 2 items are:Park / Texture / Texture { 91242E92-CE00-47CB-81B6-EA8B70259C7A }Park / Texture / Texture { E82F237E-F774-4213-8A79-609F44220B4D }I gather the last jibberish is this guid number.Does this give you guru's any help to tell me where this file is kept so I might go to it and edit it somehow?I've searched, the only thing I am sure of is that it must be there somewhere. rotflol.In fact, in the scenery lib I deactivated everything else except the bottom 2 which fsx wouldn't allow and it still showed up.Thanks again.

Suddenly I have some unwanted texture getting into my landclass ground.Could any 'scenery guru's' give me help on where they come from and how to get rid of them. please?How could I find what texture it is?Thanks in advance
