Avsim member Jankees did an awesome repaint for me several years ago. It is a repaint for the Carenado V35B, which looks just like one that my father used to own in the 70s and 80s. For whatever reason the windows are 'tinted' so much that they are black in the VC. Jankees hasn't been back on in the forums lately. Would anyone be willing to take a look at for me? Thanks!

D'oh! I think the OP meant the entire sim simply runs smoother, I did not see a reference to better FPS. I re-installed after the NGX release, following their FSX recommended install procedure.

The guys at FS2Crew are saying it's 'strongly recommended by PMDG' ... I don't remember that from my original install of the NGX, but I have been known to overlook directions like this. For some reason I would think that 'LOADING IN 2D IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED' would stick out to me. Thanks for the input scandinavian13, much appreciated.

ok. I will try that this evening. Does PMDG recommend loading in 2D ? I am sure it is in the manual, but I am at work and do not have it in front of me.

My default load state is 2D... that's why I am asking.

That's good to know... I have had the same issue before but had not taken the time to delve into what I was doing wrong. I should probably sit down and RTFM sometime.

A couple of questions about 2-D cockpit views:1)Is it recommended to load the NGX in 2-D cockpit ? 2) When I load in 2-D, it stays for about 5 sec (give or take 3s) ... then switches back to VC during the NGX initialization. Is NGX loading VC during initialization or is EXDOK maybe doing this ? OR do I have something screwed up somewhere ?Thanks

What livery are you using ? When I switched to the PMDG House livery I was able to get the engines started.

When I get home from work I may try turning off EZDOK and loading the NGX to see if that is what is causing it to switch back to VC after a few seconds. Although... even if it does switch back, isn't it technically still 'loading' in 2-D ? Too many add-ons at one time is making my head hurt. :(

I thought it was 'button 2' on my Saitek Pro Flight Yoke... but now I am thinking it is something to do with my old 'view' settings in FSX (which I am going to clear out completely) and ezdok. Are you using ezdok ?

One thing that changed was the livery I was using. After the re-install I started using the PMDG 800WL House... I had been using a livery I downloaded from the Avsim library called Bandit. After my success earlier I went back to the Bandit and had the same problems. I am now back in the house livery and things seem to be working correctly.

All I did was re-install. I changed the 2-D setting yesterday... I did have a switch assigned to it that (I think) was causing it to instantly go to VC when the NGX loaded. I deleted that assignment yesterday and it would stay in the 2-D, but still no FO engine starts.After the re-install of FS2Crew, the NGX stays in 2-D for about 5 seconds... then back to VC. Maybe something to do with EZDOK ??? The only key command to go to VC is default F9. I decided to re-install after reading another post in the Voice Control forum where re-install solved the user's problem... albeit it was a different problem than mine.

After beating my FO into submission, he will now start the engines when I tell him to. Seriously though, I uninstalled FS2Crew and re-installed it. This was driving me NUTS ! NOTE: After I did the re-install, the NGX cockpit starts off in 2-D... then it DOES go back to VC during the initialization of NGX.

ok, so having the current AIRAC is NOT necessary for the FO to accept the CDU settings on the checklist ?I need to study up on checking the 'rnp against the required rnp for departure' that you are talking about.Too bad the FO cannot just tell me what it is in the FMC he does not jive with. Oh well.

Is this the AIRAC that must be updated periodically. I still get the 'nav database out of date' msg on my FMC when I fire it up... I have just been clearing it out. Do I need to update this from Navigraph ? Just to be clear, I don't need to be putting in the ARR RNWY right ? I am pretty sure I don't, just want to cover the bases. Make sure the LEGS section looks OK ??? I always click the LSK next to ZFW twice and NGX CDU fills this in. Is this an incorrect procedure ?I have been selecting fuel quantity from the 'FS Actions' area in CDU. either 1/3 2/3 or full. My transition altitude is already set at 18000, I understand it is 10000 in other parts of the world. I used to enter 30 for OAT with TO-2 (I believe this was what was used in tutorial one) ... since then I read I could leave the OAT blank, which I have been doing. I will have to take a look at these.I clearly have lots to learn about this aircraft. Thanks for this breakdown. I will let you know if I can get that FO of mine to start the plane shortly.

I found a button setting that was causing my 2-D cockpit to switch to VC. So that is solved and NGX loads up with no problems in 2-D. FO saying 'you might want to check that' about my CDU/FMC setup. What values MUST be entered before FO is happy with the CDU ?

I am still learning all the systems... I just know I got the beep-beep-beep, silenced it with the Alt Horn Cutout button and noticed it was nearly freezing in the cabin. The packs were off in my case.

Did your FO leave the packs off ? That has happened to me at least once with my new FO.

Ok, I will try this after work today. Just for the record... should the Trike always be the default aircraft in FSX ? Do I need to actually load a flight with the trike, and then close it and load the NGX ?Also, is there any certain order I should re-run the setup for EZDOK, FS2Crew, AS2012, and Orbx PNW while 'rebuilding' my CFG file ? I changed the default panel to 2D, I see the 2D panel for an instant, then the NGX initializes and goes back to VC. Setup FDU, the FO asked 'are you sure about that' during the checklist. FO still says we are not configured for engine start. I wish there was someway to see what it is the FO does not like about my CDU configuration. FS2Crew rocks ! but I want my FO to do his job.
