Bufferpool settings
Ok thanks Paul. I'm out of time now and will have to resume taking a look at it when I get back from my vacation.

Bufferpool settings
I just switched over to DX10 using Steve's Fixer and followed all the recommened settings for NI and fsx.cfg but I have no idea what to set for the Bufferpools. Looking at my PC specs can somebody suggest a good starting point for both Poolsize and RT? Thanks.

Tool Tips fix?
Paul - please see my Bufferpools question over on my Kernelbase thread. Thanks.

Kernelbase.dll error
Ok I have reinstalled Steve's Fixer and set up my NVI and config file and will test it tonight. I'm still a bit unclear on Bufferpools so given my hardware setup what should I enter in the fsx.cfg for Bufferpools and would the entry be the same in DX10 as for DX9? Thanks.

Tool Tips fix?
I'm just using the standard FSX weather. Will that be compatible with DX10?

Kernelbase.dll error
Steve - no it does not crash when just in the DX10 Preview mode without the Fixer installed. Paul - I have the file but it is not installed in the FSX folder at present as I never previously needed it. It is version 6.0.6001.18000

Tool Tips fix?
I'm still working on the Kernelbase thing. Most of the things In the site that JIm suggested either don't apply or I have already tried - and before I to a total reformat and wipe everything clean l'll live with a periodic Kernelbase error. First thing I'll do is reinstall the Fixer. I'll be away all next week in the sunny Caribbean so it may have to wait until I get back.

Kernelbase.dll error
Good question. I'll try that tonight and report back.

Kernelbase.dll error
I ran the SFC and all was ok however when I tried to re-register the Kernelbase.dll in the Command Prompt I got an error message that read ---> "The module "KERNELBASE.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that "KERNELBASE.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again." I haven't yet tried re-installing the Fixer.

Tool Tips fix?
Ok I hear ya and am willing to work on it for better results if I can just get rid of the Kernelbase.dll problem which I need to focus on. I also like my Tool Tips too and need to get that back. My PC specs are under my avatar. Do you see any red flags there that might be a problem with DX10?

Kernelbase.dll error
Ok I'll check and do what you suggest. I just got a little disillusioned when I installed the DX10 and immediately was greeted with that problem, along with no Tool Tips anymore. But I am willing to work at it. Let me know if you come up with anything. My PC specs are already listed under my avatar.

Tool Tips fix?
Ok I'll take a look at that. I'm starting to get the feeling that the DX10 is more trouble than it's worth. My sim looked pretty good and trouble free in DX9. My thought is if DX10 was indeed that much better then why isn't everybody using it?

Tool Tips fix?
I am in DX10 mode using Steve's Fixer and as he noted the Tool Tips is non functional so I downloaded the small program he said that fixes it but it doesn't say what to actually do with it other than you also have to download a Hot Key program as well. What exactly do you do with these 2 programs? Thanks.

Kernelbase.dll error
Ok I'll check that out. Odd that it only happens in DX10 mode and never in DX9 mode or at any other time either.

Kernelbase.dll error
I just purchased the retail of Steve's Scenery Fixer and switched over to DX10 and starting from a fresh config file I tweaked it as per the instructions however now for the first time ever sometimes when I start up FSX and switch from the Free Flight button to another area and then hit the Free Flight button again I get an immediate Fatal Error as soon as I hit the button. The Event Viewer is pointing towards a "Kernelbase.dll" error. Any thoughts on this?

System setup question
Yes that will work just fine. Also keep in mind that any more than 4 gb RAM is not used by FSX. For other things maybe but not FSX.

System setup question
Just keep in mind that contrary to popular belief an SSD will do very little if anything at all to increase frame rates.

To be honest your specs are at best minimal and saying you get 25 fps on average really means nothing as we have no idea what your sliders and in-game settings are set at or where you are even flying - low over KJFK or at 35,000 ft. out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean.

Is fsx.cfg tweaking still necessary with the newest hardware ?
Ok thanks. I just did some experimenting using A.M. settings of 0 then 14 then 84 and found that with H.T. disabled in the BIOS and the A.M. set at 14 that gave me the best results.

Terrific vid bro. Whose 737 is that and what did you use to record the vid?

Using a quad core i7 950 CPU OC'd to 4 ghz should the A.M. be set at 0, 14 or 84 for best results? Thanks.
