It is in fact a very old rig, purchased in 2012. So my intention was to get the best possible performance as possible for the mainboard at least - by still technically possibility. Yes, this was my thoughts as well. Regarding this, I did look about for the exact matching RAM/motherboard combination and did found it (it's in German indeed, but this site shows the matching between the RAM and the motherboard...) https://www.memoryxxl.net/arbeitsspeicher/gigabyte/motherboard-mainboard/ga-z68ma-d2h-b3/ I know about the coercion to buy a new rig every four or five years only to be able run the newest system software, newest flightsim or music/video editing software etc etc. At current state, I am financially not able and not willing to take part at this ongoing footrace. Regarding this, I am looking for possible alternatives to delay this for a while. Purchasing 80 Euro for this step seems to appertain. As said, I am asking for my second rig, not my main PC. I hope you can understand my intention. But I appreciate all your advices so far 🙂

Hi, I have a very old rig among another and newer one which I don't want to lose nevertheless (FSX, P3Dv4 and some music developping programmes on it...). It contains very old 16gb DDR3 RAM running at 668.5 MHZ !!!!! and I know it is impossible to preserve it into the present 😆 But I did discover a site which allows to upgrade my old DDR3 RAM by maximum RAM used those days, 4 x 8 GB at 1333 MHz, specified exactly for my motherboard. So my question to all hardware experts here around: If I replace 16 GB RAM at 668.5 MHz by 32 GB RAM at 1333 MHz, will I have the double speed and performance? If so, I would replace the RAM and the old rig will have a nice life further on.... Thank you for suggestions....

Happy to find some more sympathizers staying with P3D. I for one did complete my collection of every aircraft and scenery which ever did mean something to me. Means, all military aircraft which impressed me in my lifetime, sceneries which I did visit or which arouse my interest. So above 200 aircraft models (inclusive variants and paints) and more than 100 sceneries (in most case military...). Landclass complete, AI traffic is working fine and I could create my world almost like my favorite era, the late 80s. There is no way to recollect and rebuild all this amount, quantity and quality. I am so satisfied with my almost perfect P3D. No CTD for years and I can enjoy it offline without any annoying upgrade. Because of all those collected sceneries, I have thousands of library objects I can use to rebuild all my favourite military air bases, current or in the past. Using photoreal ground, I really don't miss MSFS so far.

They had a huge update (ICLookup) for all customers some days ago, so maybe this might be a reason for it to get a better solution near future....

Thank you Steve. I didn't assume it is a DX10 issue - but strange indeed, that some of the packages aircraft appear, most don't. So if it is a code mistake, there shouldn't appear nor other AI jet packages. What a challange...

Hi everybody, first of all I have to say, I can't live without Steve's Scenery fixer - one of the best improvements for FSX ever. Thank's again, Steve!!! From the very beginning, I use FSXA with DX10 preview and Steve's Scenery Fixer. I have to say, ALL AI packages I have installed, work fine with shadows and enabled FSX DX10 preview mode. Well, except for one special instance: The NBAI Phantom F-4F package won't appear at the FSX german air base Hopsten correctly! It is strange, because the Phanties work correctly at all other airbases. Here some shots for clarification: Fine with shadows at RAF Coningsby: Fine at RAF Gutersloh: Fine at RAF Wattisham: And here at Hopsten, the devil is in the detail as follows: Especially only at one and the same place (a north side apron), some of the NBAI Phanties appear correctly (fine with shadows beside some other AI, here a Tornado): But anywhere else, no Phantoms! Okay, now I disable the 'shadows on aircraft mode' in FSX, suddenly the aircraft appear correctly everywhere!!! Now my questions: Why does this happen in that way? Shouldn't it show either all AI aircraft here or none at all? Due to this behaviour, in my opinion it must be a scenery issue, neither an aircraft nor an options issue, because the NBAI phantoms work fine on other airbases.... Each help is much appreciated!

Just came across this topic and it is really interesting. I followed all steps (using an unregistered FSUIPC) and the improvements work fine - except for one aircraft model, the WILCO HARRIER. It behaves really restively. Starting taxiing, everything is fine while using the new FSUIPC.ini entry, the aircraft rolls with few thrust. But once I use the toe brake, the friction.lua improvement has gone. What might be the cause, please? It's strange, because it seems to only affect this Harrier model....

Hallo, just finished to portover some of my favoured legacy aircraft into FSX and most of them seem to work really fine in FSX. But the Legendary F-104 of CaptainSim is a tough nut indeed. After having done a lot of experiments with the alpha channel, I don't get a solution how to get a clear view outside the cockpit - it stays dark like a sunglass in DX10. Using DX9 everything is fine. Does anybody know how to fix it or is this bird sentenced to life in FS9 only? Thank you very much in advance for every hint. Regards, Manfred
