Splitting Hairs? 6850k vs 5930k
This is a long post. For what its worth, my experience with Broadwell-E. Note 1) I don't have $$ to dedicate my computer to just flightsim. 2) I use professional graphics programs. 3) I play other games. 4) I hate to tweak and prefer flying, not chasing FPS. Smoothness is what I care. My previous rig and game settings - i5 4670K 3.40 GHz Overclocked to 4.20 GHz, nVidia GTX 980, Resolution 3840 X 2160 with a 43" 4K monitor. - P3D Settings: http://www.robainscough.com/Prepar3D_Settings_2.html, but do not use NVidia Inspector or Job Scheduler tweak. My current rig (1 month old) - i7 6800K 3.40 GHz Overclocked to 4.006 GHz @ 1.228V, EVGA nVidia GTX1070 Founder's Edition, same resolution. - P3D Settings: Scenery sliders fully to the right, and same monitor resolution. Still do not use NVidia Inspector or Job Scheduler settings. Cloud Testing with REX softclouds - Heavy storm clouds over the skies of Taiwan. FL150. Aircraft: Freeware Skyspirit 777 Spot View: 8 - 14 FPS depending on view angle, Cockpit View: 10 - 12 FPS depending on view angle Complex airport: Aerosoft's Mega Heathrow Aircraft: Freeware Skyspirit 777 Spot View: 16 - 22 FPS depending on view angle, Cockpit View: 18 - 23 FPS depending on view angle (Freeware Virtual Cockpit) Same Cloud Test with new rig Spot View: 20 - 24 FPS depending on view angle, Cockpit View: 20 - 24 FPS depending on view angle Same Mega airport Test with new rig Spot View: 20 - 30 FPS depending on view angle, Cockpit View: 22 - 30 FPS depending on view angle Most obvious thing was P3D is much smoother (much less microstutters), especially in heavy clouds thanks to GTX 1070, and around major /complex airports. This was what I was after and the 6800K & GTX1070 delivered. But I won't say this chipset is the magic bullet for FPS. OTOH, with my professional graphics program, its night and day so this upgrade was totally worth it. Last note, I chose the 6800K over the 6850K due to budget plus I didn't need the extra PCI lanes. Under load, temp is typically 50 - 55F so no heat issues. OC was straightforward. Good luck with your decision.

Words I need to share with our Community
Like many, you've touched my life thru AVSIM and your love for simulations and aviation. AVSIM has, is, and will always be a part of my life, thanks to your creation. It is unbelievable that your passion for our community and hobby led you to post probably one of the most difficult message you've had to convey. I am so humbled by your character and integrity. I pray that you will not suffer as you fight this terrible disease and recover from it. May God be with you and your family during this very difficult time.

Issues with some AI Aircraft Labels in P3Dv2.4
I have double-checked as you requested and concluded that it is not Simstarter. Even if I didn't start P3D with using Simstarter, the AI label resets by itself (or something is overridding my setting). I'll show the [AContain] folder in P3D during startup with my settings. [AContain] ShowLabels=1 ShowUserLabel=0 ShowLabelManufacturer=0 ShowLabelModel=1 ShowLabelTailNumber=0 ShowLabelDistance=0 ShowLabelAltitude=0 ShowLabelAirline=1 ShowLabelAirlineAndFlightNumber=1 ShowLabelFlightPlan=1 ShowLabelContainerId=0 ShowLabelAirspeed=0 ShowLabelHeading=0 LabelDelay=1000 LabelColor=FF000075 Close P3D. Open P3D.cfg directly and the [AContain] now looks like this. [AContain] ShowLabels=1 ShowUserLabel=0 ShowLabelManufacturer=0 ShowLabelModel=1 ShowLabelTailNumber=0 ShowLabelDistance=0 ShowLabelAltitude=0 ShowLabelAirline=0 ShowLabelAirlineAndFlightNumber=0 ShowLabelFlightPlan=0 ShowLabelContainerId=0 ShowLabelAirspeed=0 ShowLabelHeading=0 LabelDelay=1000 LabelColor=FF000075 Anyway, I'll head over to P3D forum. Thanks for responding. For a freeware product, your support is better than some payware vendors I dealt with in the past. Cheers

Issues with some AI Aircraft Labels in P3Dv2.4
Sorry Pero that I didn't explain my issue well. I don't know how to export a profile and not sure how to embed a file to this forum. I am not using the "tickboxes" inside P3D menu because the selection is limited. I like to show flightplan and airline, which are not available in the tickboxes. Yes I am using the Master Profile, and up to 9. I selected several AI Labels to show when playing the P3D. Sometimes all the labels show above the moving AI Aircraft, but most of the time it does not show all. It only shows the first AI Label, which is ShowLabelModel. Under your program's Profile Settings, "Prepared3D.CFG, I cannot copy-paste the selection under [AContain] for you to see. Hope you can replicate it. Thanks for your quick response. Tod

Issues with some AI Aircraft Labels in P3Dv2.4
Not sure if anyone else has the same problem. But after configuring the [AContain] section in the P3D Config.exe inside Simstarter, my configuration does not get applied consistently during gameplay. Specifically I choose ShowLabelAirline=1, ShowLabelFlightPlan=1, and ShowLabelModel=1. ShowLabelModel is available as a selection inside the game menu, so this one always shows during gameplay. However, the first two labels are only available as a selection in the cfg file, and do not always display during gameplay. When they do not show, the AI Aircraft only has the Model showed and does not cycle through the other two labels. I have no idea why this happens except it could be a bug. Otherwise, this is a fantastic program. Thanks Tod

POSKY T7's
Glad to hear the ol' classic soaring the P3D skies. Thanks as well for taking the time to test and report your experience.

POSKY T7's
The white light on the gauges has the same problem and file name is $vc_03. Might as well check all the texture files including ones that show the radio stack. However the biggest show stopper (at least to me) is nothing's clickable in VC mode. If both SMS and posky don't work, I suspect P3DV2 is not totally compatible with (some) FS9 models. I found this freeware package in Simviation -> http://simviation.com/1/search?submit=1&keywords=thomas+ruth&categoryId= The file name is Boeing 777-9 Multi Livery Package (v2) and although it is not your typical 777-200 or -300 series this package might be worth testing in P3D because it uses Thomas Ruth's VC which is a native FSX VC model. I don't seem to recall that TR made any 777 VC models so it could be a A310 variant made to look like a 777. If it works in P3D and it satisfies the 777 VC look and feel, you may try to liaise TR's VC model to Skyspirit's 777-200 model found here -> http://ssp.cyber-ninja.jp/SSP2012-777V2Update.html.

POSKY T7's
I used Imagetool to alter it. It comes with the Boxed FS9 and FSX discs. You have to install the SDK files to find it. Alternatively you can google. Its a pretty small exe file (160K). If memory serves me right, once you have it, open up Posky's file OS777_VC_10_t.bmp and inverse the Alpha Channel background color and resave the file. If I recall FS9 uses black as "transparent" while FSX uses white as transparent and treats black as non-transparent. Hope it helps. BTW can you verify if you are able to use the Posky's T7 VC in P3DV2? Meaning the VC buttons are clickable even though all textures load? Just wondering how backward compatible is P3DV2 to say FS9 airplanes. I still use FS9 for heavies so a little weary to migrate to P3DV2 unless I know some of my ol' fav airplanes (eg Posky, SMS/Overland, etc) will work. Thanks

Full 777 Available
agree and yes I paid into the CS T7 hype and even at version 0.9 its still "collecting dust" and uninstalled in my PC. Unplayable - poor frames, a RAT that won't stay closed and a quirky security feature that causes the landing gears to operate unpredictably. I might visit CS T7 once it hits Version 2 or something, and that is if it continues to be enhanced / developed beyond version 1. Lessons learned for me. I don't want to bash CS (apparently some of their other offerings are decent) or have this email interpreted that way but if I ever spend $ on them, I will wait until the product matures.

Full 777 Available
Hi Captain, thanks for your response. Oh so close with this one button to make the VC 100% independent   . Oh well, considering everything else eg FMC, etc that it offers as Freeware, one certainly does not complain! Thanks for this thread. This combination is probably one of the best freeware out there for FSX. I'm thoroughly enjoying the experience and it really didn't take that long to put together as the instruction provided by Greg Wilson in the JB panel zip file was comprehensive and self explanatory (at least to me). Cheers. Tod

Full 777 Available
After reading this thread, I've got the JB panel installed with Posky's 777s, as I cannot wait for PMDG's T7 to fly to Flytampa's awesome Dubai. As some have stated, it is worth it. But one nagging thing for me is that I'm not able to select the Heading button. The original Posky VC has a Heading button that once selected follows whatever heading you've input. But in JB panel, this panel is replaced by a Heading Hold button, which has a different function. Am I missing something in the VC, or is this something I have to select in the 2D panel since this panel was optimized for 2D in the first place? Thanks for your help. Tod
