  1. Excuse me, I know you fly at 'altitudes', however you use the word elevation when describing what height an airport is at. And no there isn't any restrictions in ink but my cheif flight instructor (former United senior captain) told me that the Archer III's don't do that well at high density altitudes. And when I said elevations of say '5,500ft' I wasn't talking about altitudes otherwise I would have stated the world 'altitude', I meant field elevation, hence why I said elevation. I'm here because I am trying to be safe, not to be told how to talk.
  2. The aircraft can carry 48 usable gallons so how would using 24 and then still having another 24 remaining make it bone dry? Not to mention I will continually be switching tanks during the flight. Thank you for the advice though, I will definitely be having a discussion with my instructor about the flight. I'm not worried about it, I just thought I'd get some advice from here also.
  3. Hi everyone, I have a question regarding the Archer III year 2000 model. I'm planning on doing a flight next saturday from John Wayne to St. George, Utah. Its 294nm and should take 2 hours and 30mins to complete at around 120kts. I know the range of the aircraft is fine for this flight considering its max range is over 500nm, the fuel should only take 24 gallons being conservative but the elevation at St. George is 2,884ft. Now this isn't really high at all but I know you don't really want to fly Archer III's at elevations of say 5,500ft . So my question is does anybody know for this type of aircraft, what the maximum elevation for safe flight would be? I'm just thinking of density altitude here. Very much appreciated for any help I can get.
  4. Yup, I am the only flight sim enthusiast in my family and my friends don't even know about it. Also besides my dad, I am the only one who is an enthusiast about aviation. And 2 days ago I got my PPL
  5. Hi everyone, I'm considering buying a new monitor because right now I have a slightly outdated one. I've found one that looks promising, its an Asus 27" with a built in camera which is good for skyping family and it says it has a 2ms response time.....my question is, i've seen other monitors saying things like 3ms response time and even 8ms, is the quality better as it increases or worse? Bearing in mind the monitor will be for FSX use. What are your suggestions for a new monitor. My budget is around $350 and I'd like up to 27"
  6. Hello everyone, whenever I fly at night and taxi around I seem to get these greeny looking boxes that show on the ground in front of the plane. I can't tell if this is just how fsx is at night or if its something on my end. I must say my monitor is old and not the best quality so I feel like that may be what's doing it. Thanks.
  7. Hello everyone, I seem to be having a slight problem with the eaglesoft citation x. I set the plane up on the ramp, get everything running correctly, input my flight plan, takeoff and climb up to cruise and then after a while my screens and everything just goes black and if I look outside the aircraft, it has all of its protective covers out on the engines and pitot covers etc which is obviously something you would put on when shutting down the aircraft. I'm not sure on how to fix it so if anybody can help me that would be great. Cheers.
  8. Hello everyone, I have been wondering about this question for a while now, does Boeing still develop the 747-400 if a company asked for one to be made? I know that the airlines have stopped ordering them for many many years now but I don't know much about the cargo side, do cargo companies still order 74Fs? Or is it all 748s now? I've just been curious about it, wondering if ever a rich aviation enthusiast said to Boeing, "I don't care about fuel costs, I just love the 747-400 and want a new one made for me", and if Boeing would do it. Thanks guys.
  9. Hi guys, I have a question about Virgin Atlantic's a340 livery updates. It seem's to be that they only update their 747s and not their 340s (besides G-VRED) which still isn't the new design. I've noticed this because I always fly on their 340s when flying to LAX and they are always the old liveries with the blue outline around the letters and silver paint. I find it rather strange as to why they would rather update their much older 747s than their a340s which is the company's most common aircraft and used on a much wider variety of routes. How much longer are we going to see this old outdated livery in Virgin's fleet and instead see the new fresh under the belly livery. Thanks
  10. Hi everyone, I am in serious need of some help with my weight and balance arm calculation for my stage 2 check tomorrow. I've spent the past 2 hours planning 3 flights, calculating distances, speeds etc and now I'm so tired I am having complete blanks about how to get the arm and moment. I've obviously put in the given numbers that is in the POH and it is as follows. Basic Empty Weight - 1590lbs Arm - 87.5 Moment - 139125 Now I'm trying to get the arm for passenger weights, baggage etc but I forgot how to get it. And for me to get the moment I need to multiply the weight by the arm. Aghhh! Would love some help if I can get any. I'm flying the Piper III Thank you!
  11. I love the new livery, in my mind the best one yet.
  12. Hi everyone, I've been thinking about the wilco crj evo for a while now. I'm never to confident on wilco's products, basically because not many of them are that great. But the CRJ is such a nice aircraft and there is no other payware version out there. I've not heard any good feedback from anybody about the product and so I thought i'd ask here if anyone has tried it and if so, what they think about it? Thanks a lot.
  13. Just some shots of my flight earlier from John Wayne to Santa Barbara and I flew the LA Special Flight Rules into Bravo airspace which means I fly directly on top of LAX at 4500ft heading north and 3500ft while flying south. It was an amazing sight to see this busy airport from above, I saw the Qantas A380 parked up waiting for its late night departure. And the flight itself was spectacular, very beautiful day in southern california today. Enjoy. And some very bad quality shots of my final onto 15L at SBA
  14. Hi everyone, I've been curious as to find out what the type of callsins are used for BBJs. For example, is it 'Boeing 55WB', or 'Business Jet 55WB'? Thanks a lot.
  15. Yes me too, when he told me to disable it I always wondered why. Hopefully its not too late and my system will still last a long time.
  16. Hi guys, this has been a question I've wondered about for some time now. I have my desktop OC'd at 4.5Ghz but I have turbo boost off so it always stays at 4.5 even when I'm just surfing the web or something like that. I used to use turb boost so it idled when I wouldn't be flying but then somebody said I should always have turbo off because it can harm the cpu or something. What do you all think? Should I enable it? I always think it would make the life of the CPU increase because it isn't always going to be at a high clock speed. Thank you
  17. I haven't mentioned that I also have watercooling and that my temps never go higher than 65c and that was when I was running at 1.48v. now its 1.4 and then drops to about 1.39 when running fsx. Also, I dropped from 4.6 to 4.5, can anyone give an estimate on how that will affect frames? Will I get a decrease or basically the same?
  18. well I was running fine at 1.47v when it was 4.6Ghz but I noticed the volts were a little too high thats why i've dropped it. So there was never an issue, only that it was high volts. Now though I think I've found a stable position in the -3v Where do I find this? In my BIOS?
  19. I have been changing it manually, I feel as if my max is 4.5 but its frustrating how I can't seem to get lower than 1.4v ----edit---- I think I have it stable at 1.38v, been running prime95 for nearly 4hrs now
  20. Could this be one of the issues as to why I can't run 4.5Ghz at 1.36v? Because I've been using 1333 for the past 8 months? Okay I'll change i to 1600 soon
  21. Through @BIOS and my regular BIOS. One thing I have noticed since I bought the desktop in August was that I ordered 8GB DDR3 RAM at 1600mhz, but it has always showed 1333mhz and I'm too nervous to try and change it to 1600 because it can cause me major problems if the company installed the wrong RAM.
  22. I'm at 4.5 now running at 1.4v. I'm not sure why I don't seem to be able to run 4.5 at 1.37v etc but I can't. Even Mike couldn't figure out why I had to go so high. That link you just gave me, will it give me another i7 if my current one fails or something? Is that what it is?
