  1. Help wanted for X-plane scenery development :If anybody is interested in working/cooperating with me, please PM me or contact me at xpcities@gmail.com.It's been a while since I last produced and offered Chicago and Washington, DC scenery packages for X-plane v8. They do work in v9 and will hopefully work in v10 as well. I have almost the same level of enthusiasm I felt when I first developed the freeware Chicago scenery for X-plane v5, but I am getting older and less energetic ! For those interested, please checkout the xpcities You-tube channel.Only candidates serious, dedicated and willing to commit to some sort of longer term project need apply. Don't mean to be harsh, just realistic. What would be helpful, is perhaps, if you could identify your strengths, capabilities and any scenery developments you have personally engaged in. I am based in the Chicagoland area, so the closer you are to it, the better and preferably within US.Thank you for reading this and look forward to hearing from anyone interested.xpcitiesP.S. I do hope this does not violate any AVSIM rules or guidelines. If they do, moderators, please PM me and/or delete/edit this post as you deem fit.
  2. A couple of questions regarding Flight :1. What happens to freeware development and does freeware have to be distributed thru the store ?2. What happens to payware development and can payware be independently sold ?3. If Flight is sold with Hawaii only, how much will it cost in monetary as well as hardware terms for the complete package, assuming they have a complete packge already developed to the extent that Hawaii seems to have been developed? It appears that the store idea puts a crimp, if not a complete halt, on development in general. At the very least, it makes all developers pause to ponder what it means to the individual developers and users in terms of delay, assuming M$ comes out with tools/SDKs simultaneously with the release of the main product.
  3. The Chicago scenery, including the night/street lighting as depicted in the video below, was originaly deleloped for v7 some six years ago, updated with the release of v8, works in v9 and if Laminar's claims for v10 compatibility with v9 can be relied on, it should work in v10 as well. The video contains a blend of clips of the Chicago scenery from v8 and v9.Granted it is dated, but ALL buildings, without exception, in that scenery were original, created and developed by Xpcities. Because of copyright issues raised by Laminar, none of X-planes original default autogen objects, buildings, etc. were used. Subsequently, the default or resident X-plane objects, buildings, etc. were allowed to be used but without any changes to them and thru referencing only. Addendum: The copyright issues raised at the time were because the Chicago scenery was offered as payware. Licensing was mentioned as a possible solution; although when licensing was sought, it was in effect, denied. Needless to say, this resulted in significant reworking and delays in offering the payware product.
  4. IMHO, anything more than 25-30% would be shooting themselves in the foot. Changing the buisness model on software that is not going to be cheap to begin with and add-ons costing an arm and a leg is going to pi$$ the current dedicated user base and will put most casual users, especially the newer younger crowd beyond reach.Apple has a store but the apps are reasonable if not dirt cheap. M$ could learn a few things from Apple - an understatement if there ever was one !
