  1. Tried fiddling a bit on my own and managed to get the C172 gyro and OBI into the 3D cockpit. It doesn't look great but for the purpose of the race it's bearable. I know the Baron HSI shows more info in one dial but it would spoil the looks even more.
  2. I tried a few starts and landings at my "second home" airfield, ESSI. 600m unlit grass strip. Takeoffs went fine but on all landing attempts I went off the end a bit. Could be the snow... Anyway, I will make more practice runs at places like that before the race.
  3. Don't worry. I'm sure I can hold it for a couple of hours and if not: http://www.sportys.c...p/product/13089 Done! Sorry for missing that. Thank you, Jeff :)
  4. Well, it's not just that. It's also that I have very little interest in modern airplanes when it comes to flightsims. That's why the A2A B377 flies around the world while the PMDG planes are gathering virtual dust on my harddrive. They're great models in every way, and to me only slightly more exciting than watching my hair grow. Thanks Rob, but in the end I went for the WoP2 anyway. Maybe it's just me but I couldn't bring myself to paying more (very little more I admit) for an older model that hasn't been properly converted. I'll ask him some day but I'm sure he didn't mean it as criticism towards mr Rutan personally. He just didn't like that particular plane.
  5. Well, I guess I am the kind of guy who would be annoyed with seeing a bit of land behind each screw in the VC so the WoP2 is probably the way to go for now. They're almost the same price anyway and good value. As for the WoP3+Accusim I think I'll go for the Spitfire instead. Will check out that Dornier too. :)The Piaggio is a big no-no though. The shape reminds me too much of the Rutan Long-EZ, which my first flight instructor described as "how to design a plane so that one property gets better and every other gets worse". Me, I can learn to live with the flight characteristics but not the looks.
  6. Tought choice. I want the best possible model, which should be the WoP2, and for anything but the race I couldn't care less about the H version. Still don't wanna let the team down by showing up in an underpowered plane. Also, there's an accusim upgrade in the works. Does anyone know if that's for the WoP2 or if there's a WoP3 on the way as well?Oh and sorry for bugging you all about this :(
  7. Wasn't much of an achievement really but at least everything seems to work. :)About the Mustang... There are currently two versions available for the same price at A2A. The one Eamonn linked to in the other thread which seems to be for FS9 only, and a WoP2 one which is for both FS9 and FSX but doesn't seem to have the H version. Is it a big deal to lose the H version given it's expected limited use in the race?
  8. Figured so. Tried it again a little higher but it didn't make much difference. Guess I'll have to get the Mustang then. :)
  9. Baton is free at KGGGWent well but I didn't get close to Bryans time in the Mustang. Was it my flying or is the F7F that much slower?
  10. I have the baton KAMA - KGGG in the F7F-3Here goes...
  11. Thanks Eamonn. I like A2A very much (already have the Cub and B377) so I will check out the P-51 first. I know they make good stuff and it's also a plane that I like and wouldn't mind adding to my collection. Probably means the 737NGX is out for now but I wasn't sure about that one anyway. Will do a leg later this evening.
  12. Ok, I've got everything installed and have done a test flight and Duanne produced a nice report as it should. Suppose the next step is to do one of the legs in the practice thread?I tested the planes Byran recommended and I don't mind flying the Grumman when needed. Any suggestions for good payware planes that can be used in the race?
  13. Thanks guys :-)Already have Teamspeak 3. Will get Duenna and FShost client installed tomorrow. Evenings are a but busy right now but I hope to be able do some practice with you this weekend. Will take a look at those planes too.
