  1. Just did a flight from Rotterdam to Corfu and Live Weather worked for me. I'm on the Western European server if that matters.
  2. Thanks guys for the nice words! I'm really happy to finally have FSX running the way I always imagined. :smile2:
  3. This was my first flight in the C337 Skymaster and my first complete non-stop flight in probably over a year. Overall flight took a bit over two hours and I enjoyed every bit of it. Decided to fly in the OrbX Central Rocky Mountain region with real-time weather which added to the excitement! The plane is just fantastic and offers very good views inside the cabin. It took a little while to climb to 15,000 feet but once we got there it was smooth sailing (minus the occasional wind gust!) Hope you guys enjoy the shots! Sorry about the two different resolutions, I accidentally deleted some shots and thought I was re-sizing to 1024 pixels.
  4. This is probably a worthless suggestion, but does Turbo only work when the laptop is plugged into a wall socket? If you can access your BIOS on that laptop, it should have a setting to turn Turbo on or off. Make sure that it's activated.
  5. Out of curiosity, what make and model is your power supply? Edit - This is from EVGA's product page: Could very well be that your power supply is not strong enough to power this beast of a card.
  6. Thanks Pierre, but the link doesn't seem to work! :( I think you described it perfectly John. The views are great, the quality of the interior/exterior is superb, and it's just a unique plane to fly in. I did my first flight in years last night with this plane and it was such a blast. The only problem - I can see my wallet getting thinner because I really want some new OrbX scenery now! Thanks for the comments
  7. Ah I see, I did not know you just upgraded to a GTX 680! If it was me I would just keep the 950 + 680 setup and go for Broadwell as that is rumoured to have a bigger performance jump than going from Ivy --> Haswell. But since these are all just rumours at the moment there really isn't any point in speculating. It's your money so do what you wish! I'll be hanging on to my trusty 2500K until Broadwell or Skylake. Interested in seeing more news about Haswell though as it's rumoured to be a better overclocker than IB.
  8. Looks to me like Haswell will continue to utilize Dual-Channel DDR3 just like the Ivy Bridge platform. You might just want to skip IB and keep the 950 until June/July. I'm guessing you have it overclocked as much as possible right now correct? It's a tough decision at the moment because you've got the GTX 7xx Series that will be released right around the same time that Haswell will hit the shelves...
  9. Well, of course it will feature performance increases over Ivy Bridge, but at this moment nobody can tell you by how much exactly. If you can hold out until Haswell is released I think that would be the best. Save up until then and then you can really go for it!
  10. I think you may be right, 30FPS would be great if that happened under the scenario you mentioned! Now 60FPS...even "Broadwell" or "Skylake" won't give us that sort of performance! But you can't realistically expect to match Vsync in FSX, I find 30FPS absolutely fine and smooth on my end.
  11. Since when is a 2500K @ 4.8GHz not enough CPU performance for FSX? I can attest to arjen's post as I pretty much did the same sort of upgrade and there definitely was a big increase in performance. And yes the GPU was the only thing that changed (I actually increased sliders in FSX after upgrade and still got much better performance).
  12. AFAIK, Haswell will use a new socket called LGA 1150 so you will also need to purchase a new motherboard.
  13. You will certainly notice an increase in performance from the 560Ti to the 660Ti based on your FSX configuration that you provided here. Lots of good advice especially from Bimmer & Arjen. I've just upgraded to the GTX 670 from the 560 Ti 448 and now I can finally fly around with the settings that I like (very close to yours in terms of Anti-Aliasing, Resolution & sliders within FSX) and have great performance. One thing I can add that I haven't seen posted is that you should definitely overclock the memory speed on the 660 Ti when you get it. The 192-bit memory bus might get a little overworked with your Anti-Aliasing settings & global texture resolution but there is huge headroom in the memory clocks which will increase your memory bandwidth quite a bit. Congrats on your purchase!
  14. Thank you for the nice comments everyone! Sorry tonywob, I haven't actually played around with the mixture/prop controls yet so unfortunately I am of no help there. I don't know much about this plane in real life, but do you think that both props need to run at the same RPM's so there is no disturbance? Can't beat Carenado HD & OrbX
  15. Greetings, Time to kick off my first post here at the Avsim forums! I've been a long time lurker and have been flying the FS franchise for years now. Just recently did I get back into FSX thanks to a GPU upgrade & the Carenado Christmas sale that just happened. I wish I could have picked up a few more of their planes but sadly the King Air & 182 were not part of the sale this year. I ended up going with the 337H Skymaster and am very happy about the purchase. The plane is fantastic & probably the most detailed plane that I have for FSX. I will definitely be planning some nice flights with this plane in the near future! Hope everyone enjoys the screenshots :p0502:
