  1. That's great. Thanks Hans Hjorth
  2. Hi captains, Anyone know if the HGS is working properly when used with a VR headset? Hans Hjorth
  3. Martin, Regarding DTG Flight Simulator, Will you make the changes needed to spread the load evenly on all available CPU cores? Thanks has always been the number one performance issue with FSX. Thank you. Hans
  4. Martin, can you tell us something about the use of modern CPU and GPU technology in Dovetail Flight Simulator? Will CPU clock speed still be king or can we expect to see the CPU load be distributed more evenly across the cores, better utilizing the extreme line of CPU'S with 6+ cores? Will SLI be fully supported? For those thinking about upgrading hardware in the near future this would be very useful information. Thank you Hans
  5. As I said in the thread I linked to earlier, the sim requires that the APP mode is active for the autothrottle to retard at 27ft. So there is a workaround to the problem. Hopefully that issue will be fixed in the next upgrade. Best regards Hans Hjorth
  6. More information here guys. This concerns when the autothrottle is engaged without the autopilot during landing. http://www.avsim.com/topic/345686-when-to-disconnect-auto-throttle-before-landing/page-4#entry3243307 Best regards, Hans Hjorth
  7. Well, I took the liberty of deleting the entire PMDG folder together with everything else outlined here: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/463861-installing-fsx-and-fsxse-updates/ after uninstall of the SP1c version. Then installed the new version. Everything seems to be working as it should. Hans Hjorth
  8. If it is not any harm in doing so I would prefer to delete the whole lot (entire PMDG folder in my FSX install) rather than leave something behind that could cause issues (no matter how unlikely) with the new version. Since the PMDG folder was created when installing the NGX SP1C (only PMDG product ever installed on my system) back in 2012 I can't see a reason why I should leave it and it's content left behind. Best regards, Hans Hjorth
  9. With only the NGX that has been installed, is it safe to delete the entire PMDG folder from my FSX install location? There is still a bunch of folders wth files left after the uninstall of the SP1c version; DEM (a bunch of .DEM files) FLIGHTPLANS (.rte files) icons (PMDG_Icon.ico) Livery Manager (with the PMDG_Livery manager.exe still present) NAVDATA (airports.dat, cycle_info etc) PMDG 737 NGX (PanelState folder and two .ini files) SIDSTARS (ICAO-coded .txt files (3752 items) Thanks for your support, Hans Hjorth
  10. What if one doesn't have the OC? I am on SP1C so still have the livery manager and performance manager. When I uninstall the SP1C version in preparation for this new NGX version, what happens to the liveries? Hans Hjorth
  11. Makes complete sense. I will follow that advice instead of messing with the files. Thanks. Hans Hjorth
  12. So, to have the old LOWI approaches I would need to edit the new LOWI.txt file and add the LLZ26 approach from the old NAVDATA folder? Would that work? Thanks everyone for replying. Hans Hjorth
  13. Can I copy the content of the backup folders and paste it into the new folders? Will I then have both the old and new approaches and SID/STARS selectable in the FMC without issues? Hans Hjorth
  14. I have the SP1C with the Airac cycle that came with it installed. Now if I uninstall and reinstall the NGX with this latest version, how would I proceed with keeping some of the navdata from SP1C airac cycle intact so I can still fly the tutorials as described? I have read that LLZ26 Lowi may not exist anymore in the newer Airac cycles. Basically, if possible, can I manually insert that approach (copy and paste kind of way) from my SP1C airac cycle nav data into the new one I presume will be installed with the new NGX version? I don't need all the old navdata, but some would be great to have selectable in the FMC. Hans Hjorth
  15. Looks like a useful tool. Is just the manual available for download? I've looked around but haven't found a download link for it yet. Thanks Hans
  16. It is mentioned in the manual that the default flight should be the ultralight at friday harbor, which it is. However, the ultralight is airborne with the engines running and about 70% throttle when Fly now is clicked. Could this cause issues with the NGX when starting a new flight? I have newer ever saved a flight as the default flight so this default flight is the one that was installed by FSX.
  17. Hi, Whenever starting a new flight (I have selected a cold and dark state as the startup panel state) the aircraft is in fact moving with the engines running. It then comes to a halt immediately, the engines go off and the count down starts. Another strange thing is if I select an outside view and then select the virtual cockpit, I have sound, like the engines are running. However, these two matters do NOT happen when loading any of the saved stages of the tutorial flights when the aircraft is stationary on the ground. Then everything is as expected. Greatful for any tips that could resolve the situation. Kind regards
  18. The 3930K and the 3970X are both unlocked but their capabilities and quality at high clocks may vary. CPU:s go through a ‘binning’ process whereby their thermal and frequency characteristics are analysed. Due to variances in the production process some chips may not run as well and will get binned as lower range chips while others which performs well may end up as higher end chips, unless market demand for a lower range chip is calling. Here is an article that is pretty easy to follow which in short words explains the complex process of making a CPU. http://www.geek.com/chips/from-sand-to-hand-how-a-cpu-is-made-832492/
  19. The extreme line (X) CPU:s can make high clocking easier but they come with a very high price tag for those benefits. Concidering you are going for a 2400MHz memory kit the 3970X should help to get a stable CPU clock AND memory clock. Not saying a 3930K won't do it but chances are greater with a 3970X. It is however a lot of money to spend to 'test and see'. Good water cooling for the CPU will make CPU clocking easier but you need very good case ventilation as well as the VRM on the X79 will get extremely hot at high CPU clocks. Motherboards with actice VRM cooling fans, like the Asus Sabertooth X79 and Rampage IV Extreme would be my choice.
  20. Bennyboy, any screenshots to share from BIOS? Insert USB stick, press F12 usually does it.
  21. Yes, both. As well as the 3960X and 3820. The 3820 is however a four core CPU.
  22. If you get an X79 motherboard with PCIe 3.0 there actually is a way to enable PCIe 3.0. See attached links. I have no personal experience in this but I am planning to get a new video adapter so when the time comes I will give it a go. http://www.evga.com/forums/tm.aspx?m=1607292&mpage=1 http://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?17588-Nvidia-s-answer-to-x79-and-PCI-e-3.0
  23. And while I'm at it, when you get the system, check your core temperatures and motherboard temperatures when stress testing to verify they are okay. I may be opening a can of worms here because everyone has it's own opinions about core temperatures but I make sure they stay at 80C or less when running OCCT 1hr CPU test and set it to a large data set.
  24. Even if you get a golden chip, a 4,8 GHz overclock with 2400 MHz memory is not to be taken lightly. It may very well be possible, but it is a lot of money to spend on that memory to 'try and see'.
