  1. What about Bill and Bert Pieke jointly taking over Carenado ? Shall we start some crowdfunding ?
  2. I confirm, Arezone sounds do not change when decreasing/ increasing prop RPM, as they should (and do with Carenado default) No issue with power changes (no change in noise in either case)
  3. Hi all, I purchased and installed the Arezone Cheyenne sounds, and was really disappointed with the treatment of the prop pitch decrease. All the other sounds are nice, but when you decrease prop pitch after take-off you don't hear any change in the prop sound, contrary to the default Carenado sounds. I find this unrealistic. I sent several e-mails to the developper (arezone@hotmail.de) and they basically answered : "not an issue, everybody else is happy whith that, we're not going to correct it..." I ended up uninstalling and reverting back to the default sounds It's not very expensive but still for me it was a waste of money... Regards, Sinonquoi
  4. Thanks so much ! Yes I have modified the torque limit in the gauge so I can exceed 1485. For the prop deice does that mean it's not a good idea to switch engine anti ice on the ground as FOD prevention since it also heats up the props ? Thanks !
  5. Guys, Thank you for this very insightful conversation, it really helps understand the realities of this aircraft. In reality isn't NG limit also a factor (101.5% if I'm right?). In the simulation if I want to keep NG at say 99% max during the climb there is no way torque will be at limit, except maybe at a pretty low altitude. I usually set rpm at 2100 for the climb. Is that correct ? Since you know so much about the real thing, can I throw again a basic question I mentioned in the v1.2 thread : is there a propeller deicing switch, I could not find it ? Cheers!
  6. Did you see this (it's a II XL but I believe same engines) : https://www.pilotundflugzeug.de/store/max
  7. Anybody knows where the propeller deicing switch is ? I notice there is a ammeter I believe for it on the left side, however I could only find the engine and surface de-ice switches up on the overhead... I tried to modify Bert's gauge to make it switch the YD automatically with the AP whilst at the same time allowing AP switching off without switching off the YD, but this is beyond by very modest understanding of xml conditions, I will try later when I have time to learn more. I'm sticking to the code I published above, so I can use Ctrl+D to toggle YD, I'm quite happy with that... I bought the Arezone Sound set (12€ is quite reasonable), it does improve immersion (not a game changer, but it's cheap...) Cheers !
  8. Bingo, it works : <Gauge Name="YDON" Version="1.0"> <Element> <Select> <Value> <!-- Toggle Yaw Damper with normal FSX key --> (A:AUTOPILOT YAW DAMPER,bool) (L:YAW_DAMPER_TOGGLE_DUMMY, bool) != if{ (A:AUTOPILOT YAW DAMPER,bool) (>L:YAW_DAMPER_TOGGLE_DUMMY, bool) } </Value> </Select> </Element> </Gauge> I can now use Ctrl+D to switch the fake YD on and see the light (!) go on They only thing I would like to add is for the AP to go off when I switch the YD off using Ctrl+D. I will look at it over the weekend, there must be a way. Thank you Bert and Gregg for pointing me in the right direction !
  9. Yes I think you might have a point, that's my opportunity to try and learn xml gauges, I will try to fiddle with Bert's proposal above (which works fine but does not achieve exactly what I'm looking for) and let you know what I can get to...
  10. Thank you Bert I will try that, as always you're the boss... I know it's a bit silly since the YD switch does in fact nothing in the Carenado PA31T, but I like to try and do it "by the book", so I like to actually see the -fake - YD go on when I fly manual at around 1000ft AGL, and to see it switching off on short final long after I have disconnected the AP. I got this from the RealAir TDuke and the F1 B200 flying guides, so I believe that's the way it should be done in the PA31T as well. I'll live, no worries...
  11. Hi all, The aircraft.cfg modification (changing "yaw_damper_gain" to "0.1") does not work on my system, i.e using Ctrl+D or any other assignment does not move the Yaw Damper switch nor lights up the YD sign in the plane. I did raise a ticket to Carenado who basically responded "moron, use you mouse, just click the bloody button, and move on..." So I guess that's what I'll do unless somebody with the same need and enough FSX knowledge comes up with a trick... I like this plane but I really hate fiddling around looking down to click some out of the way switch right after take off or on short final. Too bad !
  12. Hi all, Ftplan works for US/Canada, but for Europe I recommend https://www.autorouter.aero, if you create an account you can, for free, get a routing done compliant with Eurocontrol, calculate fuel etc if your aircraft profile is right, export the flight plan to all kinds of formats (including FSX!) and get all the official IFR plates from pretty much all of europe/north africa and some countries like ukraine/azerbaijan/kazakhstan... Sorry to be a pain but I do not understand Bert's proposed solution. Does it actually enable assigning a key to the Yaw Damper, or is it simply a fix to the fact that the YD does not come off when the AP is switched off ? If it's the latter, any ideas how to achieve the key assignment ? Cheers!
  13. Thanks Bert, as always you have a solution, I will try it ! Continuing on Cheyenne info, I found this : https://www.pilotundflugzeug.de/store/max On that page you will find (left, first link ) : "operational documents, manual, checklists", there you will find, among other useful docs, an online perf calculator and an complete POH, unfortunately it's for a PA31T2 (Cheyenne II XL) , but it's close enough on most systems. Main differences as far as I understand : Max Prop RPM is 1900rpm instead of 2200 Condition levers have a low idle/high idle position instead of just cutoff/max Of course weights are different Elsewhere on the site you will find interesting info on the PT6, as well as complete articles on the Cheyenne, unfortunately for me it's all in German... Best regards...
  14. Well apparently the yaw damper comes on automatically when switching the AP on (using either VC switch, 2D popup switch or "Z" key) however when switching the AP off the YD doesn't switch off with it, and as you say you cannot switch YD off without turning the AP off first... That - sort of - makes sense to me, however I believe even when flying manual the YD should be switched on around 1000' AGL, and having to call up the 2D window to switch it on with the mouse is not too comfortable when busy with the initial climb right after take off. Same on landing, turning YD off on short final is not great with the 2D popup. I really wish I could map a key to it but I can't figure out how... Any help appreciated... Best regards
  15. Hi guys, A couple of Cheyenne perf and specs including the II you might want to look at :http://www.cheyenneairservice.com/cheyenne-aircraft-specifications Ground roll with reverse 955ft, Tot. dis. over 50 ft. obstacle 1,860 ft... No luck on assigning a key to the Yaw Damper switch, editing the aircraft.cfg with "yaw_damper_gain = 0.1" does not work for me, any thoughts ? Regards!
