[24JAN15] FSX:SE Compatibility and Other Juicy News...
JSilva replied to rsrandazzo's topic in PMDG General Forum
I managed to install it without any problem. I first uninstalled the PMDG 777-200LR and 777-300ER (all SP1c) and then reinstalled it (all SP1d). Both installed without any problems on both platforms. I installed some of the liveries without a problem. I even tested it a little bit and I have no problems in my end. I got a screenshot of the British Airways 777-300ER (taken in FSX SE on DX10 without the DX10 Fixer). This shows New York (default). -
[24JAN15] FSX:SE Compatibility and Other Juicy News...

Thank you for the update. I am currently redownloading the PMDG 777-200LR/F and the 777-300ER Expansion Pack. I also updated the Notification Center. EDIT: The download is finished for all and is extracted. I am a bit busy so I'll install it in around 2 hours time. -
If the lights don't work with this driver, doesn't this mean that if someone were to get a GTX 960 (just released), they cannot get the lights to work?
-
They're currently airing Season 14. The Concorde episode premired a few days ago. I think the next episode is about JFK Jr's plane crashing (the crash in July 16, 1999). If your interested, there might be an episode covering Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 (disappeared in March 8, 2014, probably airing in March 9, 2015). I don't know if it would actually air, if it is, it could be the anniversary.

I remember learning about it in Air Crash Investigation (Documentry series).
-
Air Crash Investigation. I liked that show. If someone asks me about a documentry about aircraft, I'd recommend Air Crash Investigation (there are now 14 Seasons). I did see the episode on the Concorde crash (as of the time I'm writing this, it is the newest episode). Sad to see the Concorde (as in all) go.

DX10 SceneryFixer on Steam Edition
JSilva replied to SteveFx's topic in The Official DX10 Scenery Fixer Support Forum
Thanks for the information. I just want to feel 100% confident that it will work well with the updated version of FSX Steam Edition. I am OK with uninstalling and changing the directories to FSX Steam Edition mode. Come to think of it, how will it work (just curious)? -
DX10 SceneryFixer on Steam Edition
JSilva replied to SteveFx's topic in The Official DX10 Scenery Fixer Support Forum
Thanks for confirming. By that last part of the sentance, do you mean that if you are planning to use FSX Classic on this day, you must select FSX Classic as Operational before running it while if you plan to use FSX Steam Edition on another day, you must select FSX Steam Edition as Operational prior to running it. As for Steam Edition, will it support the update released earlier this week? -

The update is out. I don't think DX10 Preview is changed much. -

FSX Steam Edition Support

I just read your post on Facebook. In other words, you finally decided on supporting FSX Steam Edition. I'm looking forward to seeing PrecipitFX and 777 Immersion (when the 777 is updated for it) on the new platform. -

Dovetail just announced that there will be an update to FSX Steam Edition soon. They didn't say anything about DX10 Preview Mode. -
FSX Steam Edition Support

Did you come to any final conclusion yet. PMDG identified the problem on why the 737 NGX and the 777 isn't working on FSX Steam Edition and an update will be released in a few days time. Link: http://forum.avsim.net/topic/459319-05jan15-fsxse-compatibility-update/ -
I don't have any of the addons you mentioned (except for Active Sky Next (SP1B) and the PMDG 777 Family (SP1c)) but I do use ORBX FTX Global (v1.3) and Vector (v1.2) as well as REX4 Texture Direct (SP4 with TU2). I also use FS2Crew 777 (v1.1). Thanks for the route.

I might try a flight from KORD to KSTL (Do you use FSDT KORD? I currently don't have it yet. Also, KSTL for me is default). What aircraft do you normally use for that flight (I only have QW757 SP3, PMDG 777-200 LR with 777-300ER Expansion and Aerosoft Airbus A318/A319 & A320/A321)?

Strangely, FSUIPC shown it as 150,000 before the OOM (and in Process Explorer, it shows it near 3.2GB). And yes, I did hear the warning. Something isn't right. I didn't use the log as I did use FSX a few times since (in other words, the log was automatically overwritten). I always used HIGHMEMFIX=1 (it was even spelled correctly). I can try the lower quality sound files to see if that made a difference. I decided to change a few things for the next flight. It will be a short flight from Istanbul (default) to London Heathrow (Aerosoft Heathrow Xtended). Textures will be set to 1024. AI Traffic will be off (except for the cars and boats). 22KHz sound for the 777-300ER. I will still be using: Active Sky Next SP1B PMDG 777-300ER LOD Radius to 4.5 (in case someone asks me about the LOD Radius) Aerosoft Heathrow Xtended FSX on DX10 (with the SteveFX DX10 Scenery Fixer v2.6). FSDT GSX

Sudden OOM problems, again. Memory showing 3200mb

I used Process Explorer (not to be confused with Task Manager). -
Sudden OOM problems, again. Memory showing 3200mb
JSilva replied to Fi5kuS's topic in DX-10 Discussions, Hints and Help
I upgraded my GPU. My GTX 970 is working great and the graphical glitches I got due to the post 12.4 drivers are gone (I now use driver 344.75). However, I still got OOM's at 3.2GB. Yesterday, I got an OOM at 3.2GB during approach to EGLL from OTHH. I am still puzzled why at 3.2GB and not 4GB. Strangely, no logs were produced for that flight. -
I installed the GTX 970 and the good news is that the graphical glitch on DX10 (with the fixer) ended. However, when I did a flight from OTHH-EGLL using a PMDG 777-300 ER, I got an OOM a few moments after I decended past 10,000ft. This happened 10 minutes ago. Again, it is still at 3.2GB rather than the usual 4GB limit (using both FSUIPC and Process Explorer). Before anyone asks me for a log, I don't think a log was produced (unlike the previous where they did).

nVidia 347.09 drivers do indeed break PAPI lights in P3D V2.4
JSilva replied to a topic in The Prepar3d Forum
I think the reason why they use Limited RGB on HDMI connections is because Nvidia treats them as HD TVs rather than PC Monitors. It is great to see the problem being fixed on the 347.09 driver. Speaking of the 347.09 driver, it is officially released. Has the PAPI Lights disappearing been fixed? -

I'm thinking of getting the driver if the PAPI Lights are fixed (which would most likely happen). My main reason is because of the HDMI RGB Fix. -
DX10 SceneryFixer on Steam Edition
JSilva replied to SteveFx's topic in The Official DX10 Scenery Fixer Support Forum
Thanks for the update. I can assume you contacted Dovetail about their plans on what they would do with DX10. -
I thought I said I use default AI (as in I don't use MyTrafficX). I am certain I already installed the Fix It program at the time. I remember the previous flight, I got a CTD instead of an OOM (and at that time, I get pinging noises). This is the log for that one: fsx.exe 10.0.61637.0 46fadb14 KERNELBASE.dll 6.1.7601.18409 53159a86 e06d7363 0000c42d

My EVGA GTX 970 FTW ACX 2.0 finally arrived. But since I planned to get it at christmas, I won't install it until christmas (in other words, 34 hrs 57 mins at minimum). I think I know what to expect, I uninstall the entire driver (14.4) using the Display Driver Uninstaller (so that no instance of the driver is found), shut the PC down, remove the AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB Sapphire OC Edition and replace it with the GTX 970, turn the PC on, install the most recent driver (that works fine with FSX and Prepar3D v2.4 (and no beta)), and finally download a patch that fixes the HDMI RGB (as I use HDMI (I read that the recent driver, the problem would be fixed but it is a beta and I read that the PAPI Lights might not work on Prepar3D v2.4)).
