  1. well lets just say if it wasn't a sim world I fly in there would be 26 passangers who on a regular basis would find religion and request extra sick bags
  2. I appreciate the reply's very much, I find she either drops out of the sky or bounces hard down the runway, it's hard to get it just right. I have been watching some u-tube video's and from what I have seen most landings are done on the front wheels and then she settles down to the tail wheel. She just seems to float off the runway during take off but landing .... not so much ....
  3. Hey folks, I have the LES DC-3 and I just love this old girl, however my skills are really lacking, I can get her off the ground with no problem but I am really struggling with the important part..... getting her back on the ground. Can anyone point me in the direction where I could get some tips on approach and landing configs etc. any help would be greatly appreciated, Thanks, Scot
  4. Yes indeed it is one and the same, it is a bit tedious to fix because of the way Windows recognizes the usb devices but it is fixable, as I have mine up and working. It would be nice if Microsoft would correct this as I am sure that it will have un intended effects on folks other then flight sim as well. The focus now though seems to be portable devices which brought about the change in the first place I suspect
  5. Paula, There is a fix for it, but it is not straight forward and requires some changes to the registry. I have the radio, as well as multi-panel, throttles, switch panel, and the trim wheel. The problem has to do with a change that windows has implemented in order to give portable devices more battery life. As with most changes there un intended consequences. I wouldn't hold my breath for a microsoft fix any time soon. There is a thread I started earlier as well as some others that address the steps to correct it. If you feel up to messin with the registry give it a shot, if you need help to walk you through drop me a line and I'd be glad to help. Best regards, Scot
  6. I had issue's with all the gauges prior to the upgrade, I use saitek panels to control the radio's but have checked them and are functioning for me.
  7. I wanted to give a shout out to Cameron @ X-Aviation. The service that I have received has been far above and beyond the call of duty. Cameron has answered all my questions (even the stupid ones  ) professionally and promptly, sometimes quicker then I could re- click on the inbox to check for new mail. I am happy to report that the LES DC-3 if functioning perfectly now (except for the wanna be pilot) These folks stand behind their product and the support is second to none. If you love the ol' classics and you don't have this plane..... YOU NEED IT! Thanks again Cameron, and also to all the other folks who jumped in and helped out as well. Best Regards, Scot
  8. I don't look at the yoke much either  I spend most of my time talkin' "pilot lingo" things like...... "why is that smoke billowing from them engines".... and... "oh this can't be good" I wondered because the rest of the detail of this plane is pretty amazing and I wondered if it was related to the Gizmo issue as well, I have been un able to start her since the new update.... what a beautiful ol' bird though, great to talk to you, Scot
  9. Thanks Chuck appreciate the feedback, I did receive an email from Cameron this morning near as I can tell it appears Gizmo is in the plug in folder but not loading for what ever reason. As I had stated earlier although I have had the plane since April, my skills to fly it lacked alot  and I didn't recall for sure how functional the cockpit was. I did try and install a previous update and I did get some guages back, but still not 100 percent so I am concerned I may have other issue's as well. Question. Did you ever have an animated yoke? thanks, Scot
  10. Thanks for the the info Goran, I just assumed it was probably something I had done  will wait patiently
  11. I have been having some issue's with my Dc-3, I installed the newest update from Cameron's page and since then I have no air speed indicator, no altimeter, no turn indicator, no fuel gauge, by this I mean they are there but do not function at all. Also I have no yoke animation and very limited buttons and switches inside the cockpit. I bought the plane back in April and have rarely flown it (mostly because I suck at it ) and I don't recall how much function the cockpit actually had. Has anyone had these issue's or have any advise? Best regards, Scot
  12. Great set up Robert, Was it difficult to set up? I have a spare i3 with lots of ram and a decent video card in it, I would certainly consider this route and am thinking of picking up another computer and giving it a try. Thanks, Scot
  13. I too found the stock C90 pretty good, however I am definitely going to grab this, Carenado however does imho bring the aircraft "alive" I have been looking forward to this one for a while, as I fly it often with FSE.
  14. Well I've been here officially a year today, I wanted to thank every one who has been more then helpful. I check in here every single day usually several times. This is a great community and I think what I appreciate most is not having to be afraid to ask a question that has already been answered that I couldn't find, and even more, the questions that make a novice feel well....not quite as stupid, Thanks Guys for letting me be part, Scot
  15. The beech is beautiful to fly, a more realistic dash would be awesome
  16. Can someone post a link to the sight? thanks! this looks awesome Scot
  17. Thanks for the reply, I am really hating Windows 8 and am not gonna spend the money to go back to 7. I really enjoy the Fse add on as it adds a little more purpose to the sim world. Thanks for the reply, Scot
  18. Was wondering if anyone uses X-plane with Linux and wether it will work with FSE. thanks, Scot
  19. I have yet to hear from Saitek which doesn't surprise me. However I have heard several times from Sparker who is the developer of the plugin for said panels to function with X-Plane and they did reply to him stating they are aware of the situation, and it is on their "to do list" .... loose translation..... well let's just say it wasn't them who developed the plugin so their products would function properly inside X-Plane. If you have the ability to instruct bios to use usb2.0, for some this is a fix, sadly my new system does not allow this. I really don't care for the new Windows 8 platform and will spend the weekend exploring linux at the suggestion of Sparker. Scot
  20. Thanks I will give this a try right away and report back thanks. Scot
  21. Just a "heads up" for those who use Saitek Multi-Panels and Fips. I recently did a major up grade to my system and all was working great. Yesterday I did the recommended Windows 8.1 Upgrade. Since then the panels no longer function properly. A quick check with the org revealed several people who made the same mistake as me are having the same issue's. They work fine under Windows 8 but when the upgrade is installed they don't. I have contacted Saitek and am awaiting a reply. In the meantime if like me all you use your system for is flying, hold off with the update till the issue is resolved. Best Regards, Scot
