Question to PMDG about NGX Service Pack 2 ?
Hold on, no WX radar because of limitations? Majestic incorporated this into the Q400, and it works.. So I find that hard to believe.. Also can someone confirm this stuff about shared cockpit and the 777? Majestic are also working on shared cockpit for the Q400, surely PMDG could develop shared cockpit for the 777 and 737? Majestic seem to be giving PMDG a run for their money IMO.

PMDG J41 vs Majestic DH4 - which is easier to learn?
Regarding FS2Crew and REX Latitude, let's not for get that the dash is still relatively new. And also for those users who are having trouble with the dash and GSX, if you check you are on the latest version of both products, it works

PMDG J41 vs Majestic DH4 - which is easier to learn?
Ah sorry I was referring to IAS, yes I tend to get around 355-365 true speed while cruising

PMDG J41 vs Majestic DH4 - which is easier to learn?
+1 for the dash. It's much more modern and more forgiving, although it's still by no means an easy aircraft. It's also, as has been said, easier on the frames, easier to use, and can go higher and faster (26000, 280kts) than the j41. It's also cheaper! If you use the checklists, the dash is a real pleasure to learn to fly. All the best, Alex.

Future of desktop processing for FSX - FX-8350 vs i5-4670K / i7-4770K

alexmfishburn replied to alexmfishburn's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI think in this argument I've pretty much made my mind up. I agree with mjrheath. I think, simply because of money, I'll have to go with the 660 instead of the 760. I can always upgrade in the future! Anyone have any opinions on this?: thanks again, Alex. Case: Corsair Carbide Air 540 Power supply: Corsair CX750M (hybrid modular) Motherboard: MSI Z87-G45 Gaming CPU: Intel i5-4670K CPU cooler: Noctua NH-D14 GPU: Gigabyte GTX 660 OC RAM: Corsair Vengeance Blue 2x4GB Boot drive: SanDisk Pulse 128GB Storage drive: Western Digital Caviar Blue 500GB

alexmfishburn replied to alexmfishburn's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHmm, I think nearly every new mobo runs at least one PCIe 3 lane now anyways, along with USB 3. But I wouldn't say USB 3 is essential, there are very few things using it to my knowledge. As far as tweaking the .cfg goes, it's really quite simple! If you mess it up, simply delete it and fsx creates a new one Also, the fsdt tweaker can be used for free, if you download the standalone addon manager from their site. Hope this helps, Alex. alexmfishburn replied to alexmfishburn's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI have tweaked my fsx config to push my PC though, so that's worth considering. Most sliders are near max, with some (LOD Radius for example) taken "off the scale" in the config. I don't recommend autogen more than sparse or road/sea traffic, it really is a frame killer.. Yes the main reason for the 760 is for the AA, it really is essential for good looks in fsx. All I want, is 30fps smooth and constant, while recording, in the ngx at airports like UK2000 Gatwick xtreme with lots of vatsim traffic. Then I'll be a happy bunny. If only there was a patch for fsx and new computers. Surely fsx is easier to run than things like battlefield and COD. It has always puzzled me why MS dropped flight sim. Ah well, that's life I guess! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free Also to add if you're not confident manually tweaking the config file, fsdreamteam's addon manager has a built in tool for doing most of the tweaks that are widely used. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free Hmm, sandy bridge is a little old now, can you afford the 3570K (ivy bridge) ? I've heard it's a good performer in fsx. Personally i don't see the point in the i7 chips. They're basically i5s with hyperthreading. A Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

alexmfishburn replied to alexmfishburn's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcI'm planning on using a 128GB SanDisk SSD for boot and fsx, (current fsx install is 46GB), and a 500GB Western Digital Caviar Blue, for fraps, other non speed essential programs and mass storage, probably partitioned to give fraps a short stroke write advantage. I've decided to also save for longer and get the gigabyte GTX760 Rev2, I think it may just advance over the 660 because of the higher bandwidth on the memory. I currently run a 2600 myself, with a 6750 reference GPU, and I get around 20 in the ngx, 27-29 in the Q400. Most smaller aircraft with less complex VC's give me 30 smooth. (I use Rex though and that is a frame killer!) Alex. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

alexmfishburn replied to alexmfishburn's topic in System Hardware: PC | MOBO | RAM | CPU | HDD | SSD | PSU etcHmm.. I think I agree with Scott.. The single core performance of the intel processors does seem to be pretty consistently better than AMD.. I think I'll go with the 4670K... I should be able to get a stable 4.2 - 4.4 overclock on the NH-D14. (Hopefully I get a good chip!) Does anyone know if there is much performance increase if fsx has it's own SSD rather than sharing with windows? Thanks, Alex. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
