  1. Perhaps we can use this time to gather information on this for laminar to use. Question that I have wondered about for a while are: Does this happen on all operating systems? (is this happening only on windows?) Does this happen more or less at varying latitudes? (some land data is larger then others) Does this happen more frequently with GA planes then airliners? (Is it depending on your distance to the ground or is that just an illusion) Does this happen more so at airports then out in the middle of nowhere? (is something with the positioning of the airport doing this and not the land data) Does this happen near or far from the Origin of the DSF file that makes up the ground plane you are on right now? (is it more or less based on the DSF and the positioning of the aircraft on that spot. Remember it may not be the ground shaking but rather the aircraft.) Something to think about with regards to floating point errors is. The reason they exists is more or less a huge limiting point on large game worlds. You can really only work withing an X sized game world grid. If you are to far out from the origin you start getting more rounding errors, until you get to such a point the world starts jittery way to much. Most large game worlds box you in so you cannot go out to far form origin. But others don't, for example, Kerbal Space Program. In that game you can travel very far away from the Origin, and you will experience some interesting side effects. There are ways around this, like nesting grid systems withing grid systems. I am not 100% sure how x-plane was built, or how it handles the entire world. I can only assume this or that. I can pass on whatever you guys find onto laminar for us. When they look into this at some point, I'm sure having some base to help find the issue will help.
  2. This is a mathematical limitation of computers and partly the way X-Plane was coded. What you are seeing is floating point rounding errors. The computer is trying to compute the accuracy of the position of the spot you are on and is having some major rounding issues. If you are not familiar with floating point calculation errors, i recommend you Google it. I use to be worse, if that is any consolation, and looks the worst when looking at the ground.
  3. You see, I cant help but not wonder why any FSX users don't wish to switch over to X-Plane. This is also a reason why I rarely post anything anymore. To much drama, not enough work getting done to make every part of this greater community a better place for all. John, with all do respect, I like your product. I don't have it, and perhaps never will, but its a great addition to the X-Plane lineup and really is a unique product. However, you seem to think you drew no lines, and that you caused no ripples in the community from your actions. It is as if you had no expectations of what would happen advertising your product on the Org and then not selling with them and then also expecting that advertisement to go on benefiting another outlet. The whole event created a lot of this drama, and for what? nothing really, because maybe its just you took the wrong approach and i can forgive you for that, lets tone it down now, please. You seem to have an odd opinion of how an Org Developer thinks. I don't post often my opinions so I cant blame you. I truly think things can change in the right direction and for the better, do you? I hope as a fellow X-Plane Developer we can all agree that personal attacks of any kind, including the one John and myself made is not needed and really doesn't help none of us in any way. But why do i see so much of it? This of course I agree is not the best approach, and that is why we all asked Ela to cool it down. Was not going anywhere positive and i knew that from the get go. We are instead going to take more positive actions to fix this rift, but it takes all of us X-Plane Developers, not just Dan and I. I tried to talk about this with Goran last year but to no avail. Wish something would have come of that. This is not what we need, we don't need more bringing up old drama for the sake of promoting the latest drama. You do this a lot Goran, its silly, and pointless now. And that's the last time i bring up old stuff in the same light. You are right, I should know better and for the most part I do. I have sat back for the most part of the past 2 years watching others play all this drama. You are also write, I am having a bad day. It actually started when i saw this post, long before I saw Johns post. For the longest time now I have been at odds with how the Org is moderated. But I can only do so much to help. Rude moderators, people being banned for either not knowing better, being to young to know better, or for nothing at all really, and then drama spilling over to this forum, has just got me a bit on the bad mood side of things. John's post didn't help, but only fan those flames. So I apologize for my rude behavior. I'll say this, where i cant fix this rift in the community myself, I can do what I can to make the Org better. I agree with most people on the opinions of both Brett and Dave. Mainly because I see it ills the community so. As for all of us Developers, myself included, we need to move past this whole rift in the community. If not else, we should do it in private. The community doesn't need all this. I apologize to Tom Allensworth as well, this drama has no place over at Avsim, other then to open some light on things the Org needs to change to better itself. And I apologize to everyone else in this greater Flight Sim community, because we as developers can do better. Again, Thanks, and enjoy your flights, Jack
  4. I agree, the actions of those who we put in charge as leaders and mentors of the community are currently hurting X-Plane as a whole. Things need to change at the Org and hopefully with Developers Like myself and several others we can make that change happen. All in a positive direction. Mainly so we can all go back to enjoying the sim we love, and not have to feel like we cant post openly and honestly without fear of being insulted or worse. Posts like this bring to light what changes we need to push for. Avsim is also a great place however, and its been around a long long time as well. It has always been a great place to post about your favorite sim as far as I am aware. And I don't intend to fan the flames of resent, non Avsim related drama, but I feel it needs to be said. Insulting Dan as you are wont gain you nothing. He has helped the community grow much more then you ever will. Go back to your preferred playground as you will, cause you are the saddest of them all currently. Thanks, and enjoy your flights, Jack
  5. Ah, i just found out that the Guys behind Maxx-XP are working on a seasonal pack type deal similar to what the OP proposed. They posted a picture at the ORG.
  6. Great ideas floating around here. Best bet is to gather them up, and define how it would work, then propose it to Austin. As an X-Plane user since 09 and developer, i know, with the right effort put in, Austin will respond to most emails. Make a suggestion, show examples, refine your idea, and get it across in an email, and who knows what will happen. And I like that other graphic artists are realizing the potential in X-Plane.
  7. I would just like to say thank you for all the kind comments. I sure hope everyone enjoys the 727 Series just as much as I enjoyed making it.
