  1. I compute my landing weight for arrival i.e. Predicated Remaining fuel at landing and zero fuel weight. Even doing that I still get a high EFB value than FMS. I also remove the 5 knots for comfort. Vref is supposed to be based on 1.3 Vso PERIOD,....! So what's going on here???? J. Lonchambon
  2. I was talking about Default reserve on the FMS. If I could set say 8000 as default and it would stay there each time I turn on the FMS, I would not have to reset it each flight thus would not get that ennoying "insufficient fuel" all the time. A standard fuel reserve is an arbitrary number and is in additon to the required fuel. It is usuallty the same. Each crew knows they would have the 8000 lbs extra. Reserve fuel (in my experience) is in addition to normally anticipated delays, diversion to alternates, holding there, and legal additionlal fuel or US Flag rules fuel. It's not a big deal. Thanks again for your comments. Jacques Lonchambon
  3. Thank you genlemen for your comments. I forgot to mention that I use PFPX as flight/fuel planner, and use PMDG B-777 aircraft. You are right, each operator has its own fuel reserve procedures. So each operator should be able to set their own standard reserve in the FMS once. That was my hope. I my case, I would want to set ZERO as my standard procedure., and let PFPX compute the required fuel. But If I want to set, say - 10000 LBS as my standard/default, then it would show such each time I launch the aircraft. Thanks again Jacques Lonchambon
  4. I Thank you for your reply. I have been doing all of the above. So I presume that the FMC was designed by the manufacturer or PMDG with no default réserve fuel setting. Do you know the manufacturer of the FMS. (Smith May be ...I don’t know)? anyway, PMDG did a great job creating the B777. I enjoy it greatly. J LONCHAMBON
  5. Is there a way to set a default fuel reserve in the FMC INI page. in my case, I load the proper fuel quantity in the tanks which includes extra contingency fuel. So I don't need an FMC fuel reserve in the INI page. That would prevent getting "Insufficient Fuel warning", and making the entry unnecessary in the INI page. I couldn't see a way to do it in the set up area. thank you J Lonchambpn
  6. Forgetting to enter the decimal could be the problem. i made the same mistake the other day. the FMS should accept N2345.5W12345.7. don't Forget to start with a zero if the longitude is less than 100. it can get confusing between PFPX (the flight planning software) format, Navigraph Format, PMDG Boeing FMS and everybody else. 7. I agree with all the comments and suggestions. but when the plane is SUPPOSED to slow down and has NO reason the keep its airspeed, it does not. The green speed trend vector bar doesn’t even move.. then lately, when it finally decides to slow down ( way too, late) it slows too slow below Vref on final causing the plane to be unstable and getting the “no auto land” light. i also set the speed manually in intervene mode in plenty of time and the plane still doesn’t slow. oh well that’s life...!
  8. For what it’s worth....I tried to open the throttle base to see if I could adjust it from the inside. To make a long story short, I wound up removing the two small center screws under the base. That made the throttle friction much looser and just about right. I like it that way.... cheers
  9. I agree with the gentlemen above, Throttle friction knob too hard and tension threshold too high. NO documentation in the box. Not even a web link to get to the manual. The brochure in the box was useless and wrong. I had to change the stick spring the hard way as there is a special orientation for the retaining split collar. Not even the manual pointed that out (after I resolved the problem on my own). The drivers and software didn't download and install right the first time. Once connected to my FSX simulator program the throttle didn't control the power but instead the ailerons and elevator of my F-18 and PMDG B-747. I tried to calibrate the whole thing and FSX didn't recognize the throttle therefore no calibration. The X-55 calibrating software was entirely dead on the throttle function. I spent hours trouble shooting the issues. I entered support ticket for help from Saitek. Still waiting for their response. I wound up returning the joystick. It's just too bad because it looked and felt great and was smooth on what worked. What a shame to sell things like that.
