  1. I didnt think you were that silly Maybe my memory has sufferd in the last year, (i blame beer) but im more than happy to stand corrected, put my hand up and say i was wrong with my train of though. No doubt you have carefully planned for the future, it just tricky seeing it from this side of the fence. But by poking the bear so to speak, and getting a detailed response, i can get a fair idea what the future holds, and im quite happy about what i see. Thanks for the clarification Boss, and the time and effort spent on a something new that can be nothing but a benefit for the entire flightsim community, much appreciated. Cheers
  2. #Post edited by myself once i realised how wrong i was# Cheers.
  3. Ha ha, try learning Australian, almost english but another kettle of fish all together
  4. They say curiosity killed the cat... ... I hope a one RSR spills some beans soon as the neighbors cat is skating on thin ice! (1, Take it with a grain of salt, im dead against animal cruelty so dont worry. 2, bugger all ice here in Australia so dont know why i keep using that saying)
  5. John, Taking a stab in the dark with no real facts, but i would guess a large ammount of people who use P3D use it outside the EULA. Therefore all the addons the use are also outside the respective EULAs. But the thing is, everyone is throwing a blind eye and refuses to accept the fact people are using P3D in an illegal manner (it is happening, everyone knows it) Good on you for following the rules set out and not purchasing a product that may land you in legal trouble considering your circumstances. As with everything in life, if you feel it will end in problems or dramas, legal or otherwise, give it a miss.
  6. It seems everyone puts the head in the sand on this issue and wont allow talk on it. But im betting there a quite a few that will get bitten when the EULAs start getting enforced. Not my drama, i dont have it for that reason.
  7. I can agree with you here, but between the house, family and other hobbies theres not much spare money flying around, to get FSX onto the level that XP is would mean money spent that i cant justify unfortunately. Out of the box with freeware scenery, two or 3 payware aircraft, Australia (where i fly 99% of the time) is almost perfect in XP, i cant say the same for FSX unfortunately and thats why im mainly XP-only. But really, with its age and payware addons FSX does look good. But cant compete with XP on a budget.
  8. Would be interesting to see the units sold vs people complaining. I dare say there would be a large discrepancy in the favour of units sold
  9. As stated, work begun in 3Q14, its now 1Q15, thats a 6 month chunk of development that seemingly no one wants to pay for. Plus PMDG wants to pass on the licence increase (assuming) so i dunno, the price seems fair. And as stated many, many times. FSX =/= P3D/ESP. But hey, at least you P3D mob have *something* us X-Plane drivers, despite 64 bit and more modern archetecture are still waiting, so think yourselfs lucky!
  10. Damn people... If you dont like it vote with your wallets, no one wants to listen to whingers... You dont go to a car dealer and demand a major discount because you previously brought a 4 cylinder and now want the new 6 clyinder version... Cop it sweet or move on.
  11. The longer this continues to drag out the more worried i am. Holding RSR's true, the first XP aircraft will be released to evaluate the platform/sales. Now im not worried about the quality of this addon, i doubt PMDG would take shortcuts, but im worried this project will be a less-than-hoped for aircraft. Its clear XP could do wonders with a PMDG 73NG, 744 or even 777, and they would sell very well, but if this secret project is an old prop job or something similar with a smaller following, i fear the return for investment for PMDG will be lower than deemed feasible and the rest of the aircraft planned to be released for XP will be canceled... loose-loose situation. Not just me thinking this, talking to a few XP devs and others following this situation have expressed the same fears (none of which have any idea what is happening, like the rest of us). Moving back to FSX is an option i wont take, its just too dated these days and P3D is not an option due to licence issues, so im stuck hoping PMDG also can see this issue and act to nullify it. Congrats on the P3D 777, hope we hear some news soon.
  12. Cheers for the reply boss, Now dont get me wrong, i know it would be a huge undertaking creating/porting for a diffrent platform, especially when you take into account all the other work thats been going on, so not suprised that nothing has been released for XP yet. But there has been little to no mention of the status of the 'secret project' that was to pre-date the decision to port/develop for XP since early September last year. Sly, open-to-interpretation hints yes, but nothing factual. Frustrating i guess, but if you dont have the time/resources i guess thats just how it is, would offer to help but with very little skills apart from drinking beer, flying, and a combination of the two i doubt i would be of any help. Here's cheers for all the other hard work you and the boys have put in
  13. Must say, not a wiff of a mention on the X-Plane front. Its still in the pipeline yeah?
  14. For the record, black socks are the going thing Now does this mean we may be getting some XP news aw well? I would assume (and pray) through the quote that multi-platform talk includes more than the Microsoft variety
  15. And this related to PMDG because... ?
  16. Im just finding it hard to believe that there has been no events news-worthy relating to PMDG's X-Plane development in 111 days. It was hinted that further news was expected in September (not sure if it was in this thread or another in this section) but still waiting coming up on mid January. If development has been delayed or turned out to be harder than expected would be nice to know, a bit of news would cut down on annoying posts like this one Cheers.
  17. As a ex-FSX user moving to X-Plane, i feel like i need to put out a spiel as to why i think its a good thing that this is happening, it started off as a reply then became an open post to everyone. Good to see someone not outright bashing X-Plane, real refreshing But i can see where your coming from, the quality of most XP aircraft isn't up to PMDG standards, mostly because most of the XP Dev teams (Flightfactor, JARDesign, FlyJSim etc) just don't have the experience that PMDG has, and in situations like this the experience is worth its weight in gold. But this will change, and change soon, i can see once PMDG enter with their line of products, there will be a large shift towards XP due to people realising just what can be done in the sim compared to FSX and P3D. FSX is 9 years old this year, it was developed at a time where system configuration were going somewhere different (Big clock single core CPU's etc) which is vastly different from where we are now. There is only so much you can do with the core program that is older than some of the people using it before it reaches its limit, i believe that's where we are now, trying to find fixes to get around the original program to keep it moving forward. I don't want to mention Dovetail's SE, as knowing them how i think i know them, they are in it for money only with little regard for the community, so don't expect anything from them. P3D? Improvement yes, but still running some old underlying architecture that will give it problems soon, but it seems to be working for the Commercial users. (and lets face it, that's all LM worry about since its ILLEGAL to use as a home entertainment sim) So while there may be a move in the future to x64 and other needed improvements, its still a grey area to use it as most hobbyists use it for entertainment only (MOST! not all!) This leaves X-Plane... Perfect? no, far from it.. There are issues, default airport scenery, weather, VATSIM integration and payware aircraft quality are just a few of the issues it has at the moment, but it only needs a good example of what it can do before more big name players get behind it, enter the arena and move it forward to what it should be; its got the architecture, its got the potential, it just needs to support to make it something great that all flightsim pilots can enjoy. and lets face it, with PMDG entering the ring, people will be watching, and when they see what can be done, they will want a slice of the action, It will happen. If you are a flightsim enthusiast, i would more then recommend to try out X-Plane, while it may not be perfect, it is the way to go looking to the future. If you are a FSX ###### (i didn't want to use that word) maybe just try opening your horizons, just think about it and check it out with an open mind, you may be surprised with what you find. TL:DR, X-Plane is not perfect, but i think PMDG are doing the right thing for the flightsim community in moving forward by heading down this path.
  18. For the record, as an Australian over the age of 18 i am required to be drunk on public holidays, its a legal thing... Anyway Rob, only reason i asked is this was cross platform is in the pinned X-Plane thread you said at the start that, and i quote; "Upon completion of this project (X-Plane secret Project), we will evaluate the market demand and the Xplane platform's viability as a platform for future growth of our PMDG BAe JS4100, PMDG 737NGX, PMDG 777 and PMDG 747-400v2.0 product lines with an eye toward making these products available to Xplane users." Now from that i assumed that work would not begin on the process of porting to X-Plane until after the previously mentioned project was released and evaluated by your team, but by the sounds it it through this thread and other hints ive seen around this forum, this may not be the case and you may already be working on the porting process (If so, i might be excited to the point i may wee a little bit ) If im wrong, more then happy to be corrected, but if im right (and jeeze i hope i am!) a simple nod and acknowledgment to this would be just as exciting as the NGX release onto X-Plane. Cheers and merry new year!
  19. 747-400 V2 looks great, but is it FSX only or are you working on all 3 platforms?
  20. I find SkyMaxx works very well for me. But anyway, how is that related to PMDG and X-Plane? If you want to bash the product this isnt the thread for it.
  21. I hope you know something we dont mate
  22. Im not sure the move to P3D is really a smart one legal-wise. Lets face facts, you cant use P3D for entertainment use, its against the EULA and therefore illegal. And I dare say that the majority (slim majority if you wish) will be using PMDG products on P3D for home entertainment. This clearly goes against the agreement people have with P3D when they purchase it, and from what I gather it will also go against the PMDG EULA (from what ive read, no entertainment licence will be offerd) Now PMDG would have to know this is going to happen, people will break laws to fly the products in this sim, it will happen (already has clearly) So they will have to police the licence purchases or hope to whatever diety they pray to that LM dont catch on and take legal action. Just my 2c
  23. Oh I can only imagine there would be some challenges in the road, only need to spend 5 minutes in XP's planemaker to realise it would be a headache, even without external plugins! Being a secret project I know not too much can be released, would defeat the purpose wouldn't it? But little things like "Its entered Beta testing" or "The testers are getting really excited about this" (if indeed it is at that stage) just little things that show the ball is rolling. I mean, I dont think im asking too much, but at the same time I know theres no way I could influence a company like PMDG into changing their ways. Just the nature of the beast I guess.
  24. That just reminded me, A (now ex for obvious reasons) member of the VA I staff for told me he had a torrent version of the NGX that didnt need any activation via your servers. He was shown the door rather quickly after that so I didnt get details, maybe something you guys might wanna look into.
  25. I must say, exactly 3 months since the update on page 1, we've heard exactly nothing since in relation to the X-Plane development. With the expected release anytime from now on, and mention in a previous post of further "news" that was expected to be released in September that was delayed, im dead-set surpised to hear nothing. Is this how PMDG normally work? Or is there something we should be reading between the lines?
