  1. Make sure you have plenty of free space on drive c:. Usually the extraction first step, puts the files into c:\users\*your name*\ App Data\ Local\ Temp, then moves the files to your chosen installation location. Once the program is installed, the temp files are deleted. Might be an idea to clean out that temp folder, delete the lot. Chris.
  2. Hi Greg, I found the offending file at ORBX \ FTX_OLC \ FTX_VECTOR_FixedAPT \ Scenery And the file is APT_MYNN.BGL I just changed the extension and all is Ok. Thanks for your help Greg, love the scenery. Chris. .
  3. Hi Greg, Very nice, great job. One thing I found, I have Aerosoft's Nassau X installed and it all fits together nicely, only thing is, I have 2 control towers, identical, side by side, opposite the terminal. Turned off Aerosoft, and they are still there. Hope it is an easy fix. Thanks for the great work. Chris.
  4. No, I didn't calculate it, it was a direct quote from a website that did an extensive review and bench testing of the nVidia GTX 1070Ti Foundation Edition. Don't ask me where as I did a lot of research on the subject. Chris.
  5. Hi Guys, I have just finished building my new rig, almost the same as the OP's. Gigabyte Z370 gaming but with a i7 8700k. After a lot of research, I settled for the nVidia1070Ti Foundation Edition. Research showed that to move up to the 1080Ti, the cost penalty of an extra 45% showed only a 2% performance improvement. I have the 8700k overclocked to 5ghz, but can obtain 5.2ghz but there is instability at those clock rates. All ok doing the bench marks at 5.2, but P3Dv4.4 doesn't like it. I have only a few ORBX products installed so far, with more to go, but I'm easily getting 40FPS just about everywhere but suffered a big drop to 25FPS flying into FsDreamteams KLAX in PMDG's 737NGX. Overclocking the Z370 is dead easy with only a couple of settings to tweak. Oh, BTW, the i7 is liquid cooled. Chris.
  6. Dave, The insertion points are correct. Everything is put in the right places except the 5 Vector Libraries. FTX below Addon scenery and Land Class below FTX. And yes, I did save the settings. I have done this a million times and it always worked in FSX. I did inquire at Orbx and the only suggestion is to re install FTX Central, which I have done several times. (see Above.)
  7. BTW, those 3 sceneries are installed by default on C drive, and I don't have much room there, so I modified the xml's so those sceneries can live on D drive while the Sim is on E. I took the scenery xml's out of the Prepar3D v4 Add-ons folder, saved them, to disable those sceneries and to see if they had an effect on FTX, but no changes, FTX still puts the Vector Libraries at the top. Chris. .
  8. I do have Lorby's Addon Manager and I find it a great tool but I only have 3 addon sceneries that are installed via xml, so the SCE is still in use for me. The point I'm trying to make is that FTX Central moves the 5 Vector Libraries to the top of the order and that, I notice, messes up the scenery, eg. the Islands off the coast where I live, Hervey Bay, Australia, disappear. I put Vector back to where it should be and the islands re appear. Goodness knows what else is messed up with Vector at the top. I am not bold enough to say I know all about the use of xml scripts, but I know enough to write my own and correct mistakes in others. But again, that is not the point, I can't figure out what FTX is doing, and I can't find any information about it on the web. This problem never arose in FSX, it has only occurred since I moved to P3Dv4 in the last couple of weeks. Anyway, I hope someone comes along who can explain the inner workings of FTX and how it does the sort, then maybe I can find out what is going on. Thanks Guys for your interest. Chris. .
  9. Hi guys, I'll cut right to the chase, I have just changed over to P3D v4.4 from FSX, which I have run since day 1 in 2006. And all the other versions before that. Never had a problem I couldn't solve in FSX, and got to know the inner workings rather well. Now, here is the problem, every time I run FTXCentral, it puts the Vector libraries at the top of the scenery order. Everything under that is in the right order. I run Scenery Configuration Editor and move the Vector libraries to right above my Pilots mesh. Then above the Vector entries (5) there is the default scenery, then Orbx, then other third party stuff above Orbx Libraries. All is good until I run FTXCentral again, and the 5 Vector Libraries are back on top. Strange thing is that the Library, ORBX!VECTOR_AEC, still stays at the bottom, third up, where it is supposed to be. I thought it may be FTXC, I have re installed it several times. There is no un install so I figured there is, maybe, some corruption being left behind after the installs, so I ran a trace on the installation and then made sure there was nothing left when I un installed it. Another clean install, again. And yes, I do know how the insertion points work, done it a million times in FSX. Still, the problem persists. I have searched all over the web, been working on this for days, and can't find a solution. I wonder if anyone here knows how to solve this, or what the problem may be. Thanks so much. Chris.
  10. I had not flown into Thessaloniki before and I did have some conflicts with Navigraph and the Aerosoft scenery. I checked it out on Google Earth and could see RWY 10 / 28 are torn up so I went for 16 / 34. I guess local knowledge helps. At least in the Sim I had a runway to put the wheels on ! OK, I see Taxiway F in my Aivlasoft flight bag ! That would work, I'll try it tomorrow ! Empty ! BTW., the confusion started with RWY 10L showing up in the FMC (?)
  11. My name is not Harrison Ford. Actually, RWY 16 is only 7,900 ft, and I was a little high and heavy. Had a job pulling up, even at 135 knots.
  12. Just follow up. Bit late, I know, been too busy flying ! I got a hold of Rex Essentials, unticked all but Tropical Water in the options, changed the colour to what was my liking and installed the textures. Now I have the shallow tropical waters looking the way they should. Thanks Steve, love the "Fixer". Chris... Hervey Bay.
  13. Arrival at Thessaloniki LGTS, from Budapest Airport, LHBP. FSX+ Acceleration, DX-10, Steve's Fixer with Cloud Shadows, OpusFSI weather, Aerosoft THESSALONIKI-X. Enjoy !
  14. Hi Steve, I had a fiddle with the water sliders and things are looking better. The deep water is a little dark but the contrast between the dark blue and the shallow water is now not as pronounced. I'll fiddle some more and see if I can improve it more but as it is, it is acceptable. Just have to start FSX each time which I did dozens of times this afternoon. Thanks ever so much for your time. Chris. Hervey Bay.
  15. Hi Steve, Yesterday, 30 November, I bought the DX10 Fixer and the Clouds addon. Both installed OK and working well. I am very pleased. Running FSX and DX9 for years, I have used REX 4 with Soft clouds and used a water set that was close to reality, but the shallow water with coral has always been a very light blue, very unrealistic. I live right on the Great Barrier Reef in central Queensland so I know what it looks like. Actually, here, when the water gets shallow, it turns more a pale green / yellow with sand on the bottom. I found another program, long time ago, FS Water Configurator, which allowed me to cut back on the bright light blue that was shown in the shallow water with coral, and I got to the stage where the colours were very realistic with good blending from light to dark blue. Since I installed the DX10 Fixer, my shallow water has reverted back to the bright light blue again, so I ran the FSWC again, I know it messes with the shaders, and FSX got really screwed up ! I backed out of the mess and all is working again with DX10 and the Fixer. The clouds are fantastic. So, the question, is there away to use the FSWC to get my colours back or will I just have to live with it ? I prefer to have the clouds, but it would be nice to have the water with the correct colours. Thanks for your time and two wonderful products. Chris.
  16. My father in Law is an Avid Simmer, me, not so much. He came to me with a problem, OpusFSI steals focus from FSX when auto starts and shrinks FSX to the task bar, thus interupting his session. He always runs FSX in the full screen mode. He also starts OpusFSI from within FSUIPC (Paid version 4. something). I search all the forums and found no solution there. His line in FSUIPC was [Programs] Run1=READY,CLOSE,"D:\OpusFSI\FSISERVER.EXE FSX" So what I did just as an experiment was to create a new shortcut in the OpusFSI folder named FSISERVER.EXE - Shortcut and set the properties of the shortcut to run Minimized. Then I changed the FSUIPC command line to [Programs] Run1=READY,CLOSE,"D:\OpusFSI\FSISERVER.EXE - Shortcut FSX". Walla, it works every time without OpusFSI stealing focus and shrinking the full screen FSX. Sure enough, the Sim starts with clear weather, it was raining here, and we hit the Update weather on the menu bar, and down came the rain. Hope this helps. I couldn't find a solution anywhere.
