We had the opportunity to speak with Nick from FlightFX, very insightful and touched a several topics regarding the Hondajet and their upcoming project. Thought I'd share it here hope you guys enjoy! Link to the live show replay is in the podcast description as Nick also showcases the upcoming Vision Jet.

For those of us that don’t have the time to sit down and listen to the entire thing, can we get cliff notes?

    Hello.

In two different flights the same thing happened to me twice. After about two hours of flight (from SPSO to SCDA with the TurboArrow IV Just Flight) suddenly it was no longer 9 am local time but full night (about ten hours before). Something turned off the real time mode, which I reactivated from the weather menu. After about twenty minutes again instantaneously it was night. Has something similar happened to anyone?

Had the same issue a few days ago but nothing since! Figured it was just a random issue. Glad to see someone else had the issue.

Do you know for sure they retained the ethernet cable connection?  I've not seen any photos of the XPC showing it there or not.  This was one of 3 questions I emailed them about but of course they haven't responded.  The US "support" team is anything but.  Except for this piece, the ethernet cable, the price seems totally fair for the rest of the product--sports the vaunted Hall Effect Sensors, no hard detent, and totally smooth operation by all accounts.  The only piece really missing is having increasing tension w/ increasing roll.  If it indeed still has the ethernet connection that is a show stopper for sure as I've read about its failure prone nature.

Yeah, it’s there. If you look on their site they did a great job hiding it by not plugging the cable in. So you have to zoom in on the picture to see the port is still there. A very poor design.

They raised prices because they made major improvements that put it in at least in the ball park of much more expensive "toy" yokes, and yes, they are ALL TOYS, though some are better than others at pretending they're not 😉

While they were raising prices, they should’ve reconsidered that silly Ethernet cable connection. That’s the biggest failure point of that design and with their terrible customer service, I don’t fault anyone for not wanting to pay their prices. That’s coming from an owner of an alpha and bravo. I will not personally buy another honeycomb product until they figure out their customer service.

This is a neat tool that allows you to access Vatsim/vPilot through the in-game menu. I think there's a way to setup chat through the tool, but I haven't figured it out yet. The real reason I got it was to use it in VR, since it keeps you from hopping out of VR. You'll have vPilot running in the background, but this little tool helps to keep you in the game as it were. Apologies if this was brought up before, but thought some may find it useful.

First time I’ve seen it. Great find! I was always kinda hoping since Asobo and VATSIM partnered up that they would find away to integrate this directly into the sim some how.

I must say, reading the devs responses on the official forum as well as the couple of people that are defending them here is not a pleasant read.

Instead of acknowledging issues, there is a recurring theme of “it’s not our fault, nothing we could have done” that just comes across as tone-deaf at best and arrogant at worst.

I’m now actually regretting my purchase because of the poor level of customer support and the general attitude exhibited by the devs. Sure, maybe cloudflare nodes weren’t updated - but that is NOT the paying customers fault. It’s on the dev to create a method of distribution that works , and if they screwed up (it happens) they need to take responsibility. And selling software online is a solved problem in 2022, you can’t expect sympathy if you weren’t able to figure out caching nodes.

I’m done with GSX for the foreseeable future. The claims they made are not holding up (works with all airports) and they appear to be doubling down on their insistence that they are doing nothing wrong, or alternatively, there’s no possible way they could have tested this better and it’s cloudflare/mfst that has caused all the problems.

Feels like a lot of these old school devs aren’t ready to support the vast numbers of Msft customers. Like, if you’re not good with customer communications, hire a freelancer comms person to help out for the launch. It’s just a bad look when you’re arguing with early adopters and blaming your customers.

    Thats $30 down the drain.

You better be careful saying things like that about him.... last time I said something about him I got a week ban on here haha. No joke

If you are arriving, the smart thing to do would be selecting a gate while you are still taxing ( and while you are at it, ask for the FollowMe to guide you there ), so the whole crew would be already there when you arrive, and you won't see if popping out in front of you.

In fact, you can even select a gate while still in flight.

Good to know, thanks. On that note, are you able to elaborate on any performance impacts? I'm sure there will be some sort of a performance hit, but with the new sim I would hope it's minimal?

Anyone else experience the reverse buttons on the bravo throttles not working for the pmdg 737? They work fine on throttles 1 and 4 but 2 and 3 which I use all the time with the airbus do not register. I have heard that the cause is broken wires and I have sent 2 emails direct to honeycomb about this as I purchased my unit direct from them in Jan 2021. Its been 2 weeks now and I still haven't received a response to my emails. Anyone else having a problem with honeycomb not responding to emails?

    Thanks

    Don

    Don,

Unfortunately this is a common problem with the Bravo and the poor customer service of Honeycomb after purchase. It's sad to see a company that has great potential fall short in the customer service department. My Bravo also suffered the same issue and I had to go through the RMA process. The process is lengthy and frustrating. When my Bravo went out, it took nearly two months from start to finish to get it replaced. I just had an issue with my Alpha with the ethernet port and it's been over a month and I just sent it out a couple days ago. If you do some digging, you'll find this is the common complaint. We are also finally seeing the problems of their products now that they finally have some time on them and we can only hope they'll improve their shortcomings. Unfortunately you will most likely get a unit with no real improvement from the first and it'll only be a matter of time. I've been very disappointed with their service.

I had posted about this project here a few moons ago and, if I recall properly, the whole thing got shot down in flames with comments such as "it will never happen, and if it happens it won't be good... or can't trust such projects, too big for a small team" .

The negative vibes can be strong at AVSim, not entirely sure why.

    Exciting stuff right there😆

    Cheers,

This may not be what you're looking for in a reply, but I'll preface this and say there is no negative tone when I say it. The unfortunate reality is that right now we are still dealing with a market that is flooded with developers who are simply trying to make a quick buck. They show off pretty pictures, but the aircraft has absolutely no depth beyond visual quality and each time something is said we get blasted with, "This is not meant to be study level". So my concern here (Note - I said concern and didn't imply it will happen) is that we will get a pretty model of the DC-10 and it'll take the community to mod the hell out of it for it to actually fly like a DC-10. I hope I'm wrong.... I really, really do, but until the professional community can start spitting out more quality work like PMDG and Fenix, everyone will remain a skeptic (myself included). So far their product looks really good... lets just hope they go deeper with it... more importantly, lets hope they actually communicate that before releasing it. Just my two cents.

Here is a funny image that was posted awhile back and perfectly explains development for some devs haha (Clearly a joke)

  10. I’m excited for this as well, but it’ll be a huge disappointment to have this amazing aircraft if Asobo can’t do a better job with making the platform stable over long hauls. Currently folks doing 9+ hour flights are frequently getting performance degradation issues or plagued with CTD issues. We need Asobo to address this before we get a good long hauler.

Uh ohhh, PMDG accidentally made their landing bug debug video on their youtube channel viewable under certain circumstances. The bit in the video description doesn't instill a lot of confidence that this is going to be fixed quickly unless someone pulls a miracle

The good thing is that the video was made on April 28th from what I can see and he posted this on April 30th that it could possibly be ready by this weekend. So I'm hopeful for that.

  12. Is anyone else having challenges with some of the gates not working with the pushback toolbar mod? I've found that some of the gates work with the mod and others do not. I've noticed this is the case with the satellite terminal (A13-A22). Using the ATC panel however I can get the gates to work. Other gates at the main terminal seem to work with the mod. Anyone else encountered this?

I fly into KDTW often in the CRJ. A couple of days ago, I landed on runway 27L for the very first time because the winds were 290 at 30. What I didn’t know is the there is one of the infamous “cracks” running across the runway. It hit it just after touchdown and it threw the aircraft at least 40 feet back into the air. Fortunately, I had crash detection turned off and was able to recover.

I believe the dev corrected that in a recent update. I complained of the same issue to them.
