Sim Update 6 (v1.8.14.0) now available
Are you sure you're not using another add-on such as TriTriSim? See my image below from their website. It looks like a feature they offer is a wing fade effect. Which is super cool by the way - but I also want to stop any confusion from folks thinking this was something native that came with SU6, because it definitely is not and this a thread about SU6.

Sim Update 6 (v1.8.14.0) now available
I've done a dozen or so flights in MSFS 2024 with SU6, and yet to run across any clouds where the wing was obscured. I agree it was always something neat to think about, but I'm still confused. Is this just a fluke or are you recreating this in all clouds? Is this something you're seeing because of your add-ons?

Stutters after rotation and climbing
Funny you should ask. I did a long haul 9 hour flight there last night using the PMDG 777. Not a single stutter. Even commented to my buddy about how smooth it was. What hardware do you have?

Stutters after rotation and climbing
I had this problem in SU5. The dozen or so flights I've done, it appears resolved. SU6 has been amazing for me. See this post for my comments: https://www.avsim.com/forums/topic/700109-sim-update-6-v18140-now-available/page/6/#findComment-5812496 And no - didn't do any changes other than updating.

Funny, I had this problem in SU5 and I think it’s much better in SU6

Sim Update 6 (v1.8.14.0) now available
Just did a 16 hour long haul with the inibuilds A350-900 ULR from LAX-WSSS. For me, SU6 has been an amazing update. My performance stayed the same all the way through the flight, including touchdown. Rock solid 116 fps with FGx4 and AutoFPS. What was even more impressive for me were no stutters anywhere on final or touchdown - something that I was being plagued with in SU5. Also, and this could be completely made up in my head, but I would agree with what some others have said about the clouds appearing improved. I did a flight yesterday evening before the long haul into DEN, and there were some storms in the distance. The lightning even appeared more believable. Again, could absolutely be a placebo, but there seem to be some improvements there. Outstanding performance is really what has blown my mind. Looking forward to testing some other airports, but at least it's long haul stable.

Still doesn’t change my opinion. I said what I said and stand by it. See my reply above. 🤷♂️

The second I see those stock/generic default planes in marketing material, I immediately lose confidence. 🤷♂️

Welcome to the Synaptic A220 - Releases next week on the MP
That might be the case that it's loud in real life, but the headphone simulation should tone that down considerably when it's activated, but it doesn't. Just as loud before and after. The Echo19 sounds for the Cessna 172 are identical to that. The ground noise is just as loud with the headphone simulations as is it is without them.

Welcome to the Synaptic A220 - Releases next week on the MP
Here is my personal opinion on this product. I'll preface this by saying I have no intention of debating everyone who disagrees with me. If you love this airplane, that's great. I have friends whose opinions I respect that genuinely enjoy it. This review simply isn't for you. If you're already offended by that, I'd recommend stopping here. To me, the product is mediocre at best. The launch was an absolute train wreck. Even before release, the streamer previews, the drama, and the team's responses on Discord left a bad impression. It wasn't a great look, and it gave me a sour taste from the beginning. Normally I have a pretty good sense of whether an aircraft is going to click with me, but my curiosity got the better of me this time. The airlines and routes the A220 opens up were enough to convince me to give it a shot. Unfortunately, once I actually started flying it, the disappointment came quickly. The first thing that stood out was the sound package. I think Tyler from Echo19 is a genuinely good guy, but I've always felt his sound work falls short of some of the best products on the market. The engine sounds are decent, but everything else feels flat, exaggerated, or simply lifeless. The airplane never feels alive. Landings lack the rattles and vibration that help sell the illusion, while extending the landing gear sounds like you're hanging your head out the window. It's completely overdone. Beyond that, nothing about this aircraft feels groundbreaking. The EFB is essentially the same basic iniBuilds tablet we've had since the A300. The systems depth feels fairly shallow, and the overall package just comes across as inexpensive despite carrying a $66 price tag. Performance also left a lot to be desired. I experienced multiple simulator crashes, and I ran into some odd automation behavior as well. Just tonight, after installing version 0.3, the aircraft began accelerating rapidly during descent while in V/S with autothrottle engaged at around 6,500 feet. Disconnecting the autothrottle immediately corrected the issue. Reengaging it worked for a while, but the problem returned on a 10 mile final. At that point, I simply closed the simulator. If someone asked whether I recommend buying this aircraft, my answer would be no. In my opinion, its biggest selling point is that it's an A220. It gives the community access to new airlines and routes that we haven't really had before, and I think that's carrying a lot of the excitement. Beyond that, I don't find it particularly impressive. If you love it, I'm genuinely glad you're enjoying it. For me, I'll be looking forward to upcoming releases like the BB 757 and the iniBuilds A380. As for the Synaptics A220, it's headed to the hangar, and I don't see myself coming back to it anytime soon.

Welcome to the Synaptic A220 - Releases next week on the MP
I'm glad to see someone else is dealing with the same crashes I am. I 10000% agree with you that just because it doesn't happen to everyone doesn't mean it exists. We both have high end systems, so no reason for it. I made a discord thread regarding the CTD issues.

Welcome to the Synaptic A220 - Releases next week on the MP
May be unpopular for some, but this has been one of the worst purchases I've made. I appreciate that Synaptics will eventually get there, but for me, this plane has had frequent CTD issues and at completely random times. So far I've attempted 7 flights and 5 of them ended in a CTD. If I had other planes doing the same, I'd be more suspicious that it was my hardware or settings. Last week I did multiple long hauls with the PMDG 777 and inibuilds A350 without any issue. Even did a 6 hour flight with the iFly MAX without any issue. I reinstalled the plane at the request of the devs and deleted all folders related to it. Still ended up with a CTD when nearing TOC. What's more suspicious here is each time there is a different exception code in event viewer. With all of that said, I'm likely to be out $66 here and will most likely not get the refund back that I requested, but for me, this is my last Synaptics products I will purchase. If I don't get my money back, maybe down the road I'll try it again, but this product isn't stable for me. I'm running FrameGen x 3 and using AutoFPS as well... the performance of the plane wasn't an issue really for me and only the random crashes.

Welcome to the Synaptic A220 - Releases next week on the MP
As of this moment, I've shelved it until the next update. I haven't had any issues with a CTD lately. Did multiple long hauls this week in excess of 12+ hours without any issues using the A350 and 777. Today I took the A220 out and during the taxi, I had a CTD. Didn't think much of it. Reloaded the flight and made it in the air. Went into the routes page to delete a discontinuity and was quickly met with another CTD after the massive performance drop that others have pointed out. Specs are in my signature, but it's nothing to sneeze at with a 4090, 13900k, and 64 GB RAM. Running FGx3 and AutoFPS.

Welcome to the Synaptic A220 - Releases next week on the MP
Couple things we've seen from the streams today. Not deal breakers, but some stuff that I think we need to see if it was operator error, a quirk of the RL plane or an issue with the add-on. Each streamer seemed to have a problem where the nose had a hard drop onto the runway. Looking at some of the marketing material, you can see it there too. According to CPTCanada, someone in his chat reported it was a normal characteristic of the real aircraft. I'm curious if that's accurate. At least two of the streamers I watched had issues where the AT did not reduce to idle and/or disconnect after touchdown. Several ILS issues... some of this I think was operator error. The ghost lines appeared and it doesn't automatically switch over to LOC. Even after manually switching it over, at least one streamer I watched had issues with it following the LOC correctly. It nailed the GS, but the LOC was way off. Some random performance issues that were difficult to tell if it was the plane, scenery, computer, or all of the above. I believe CPTCanada said there was one bug with the RTE page they were already aware of causing a strange performance issue. Anyways, just what I happened to see today. Visually, the plane looks pretty solid and the sounds are great.

Bill, the conversation was over for him, but I'll gladly start it back up for you. You continue to validate my original comment that at least one person would put me on blast. Too bad I didn't make bets. I find it amusing that you're perfectly comfortable calling products like GSX and Navigraph ridiculous, but when I say this add on is ridiculous at a $10 price point, suddenly that's unacceptable. That is the definition of hypocrisy. You're criticizing me for expressing an opinion while doing the exact same thing yourself. My original comment even said, "to each their own, but for me..." That's called an opinion. I didn't "feel strongly" about anything until people started twisting my words and implying I don't think developers should be paid. I never said that, and I never implied it. I mean, my first post was literally a sentence so how strongly could I have really felt?? Let's also be clear. At no point did I say I hated this add on. Those are your words, not mine. You're the second person in this thread to argue against something I never said. If you actually read my original comment, I specifically said I would support it as a free add on. I simply don't think it offers enough value to justify a $10 price tag. That's my opinion, no different than your opinion that GSX and Navigraph are ridiculous. What this exchange really highlights is the toxicity that exists in parts of this community. Instead of accepting that someone has a different opinion, some people feel the need to twist their words into something they never said because it's easier to argue against a position that was never taken. In your defense, this isn't unique to the flight simulation community. It's become a problem throughout society. Too many people are incapable of accepting a differing opinion without turning it into a personal attack or rewriting what was actually said. Ironically, that's exactly what you and the last guy have done. I'll end it by making my position crystal clear: I don't hate the product. I don't hate the developer. I absolutely believe developers who create quality products deserve to be paid. I also believe not every product rises to the level of payware. In my opinion, this does not rise to the level of payware. I do not believe this product offers a ton of value to our hobby, but as it has been pointed out several times, the developer is free to charge whatever they would like. I'll continue to vote with my wallet. Continue spinning this however you'd like, but those have been my positions from the very beginning. This is the end of OUR conversation as well whether you reply or not.
