  1. Yes, it listed all of my apps, including FS2020, and claimed that they were all up to date. Anyway, I tried a suggestion provided at the FlightSimulator forum and rather than updating, it irrevocably broke my installation. So I had to reinstall the whole shebang from scratch. I have the latest version now (1.18.14.0). It took 7 hours to download.
  2. Did you buy FS2020 through the MS Store or are you subscribing through the Xbox PC Game pass?
  3. That's strange. In the three threads about this problem on the FlightSimulator forum, many people claimed to have managed to trigger the update from the MS Store (in one dozen different convoluted ways) and there was no mention that it ought to be done from the xBox store. (There was one mention by a guy who said it had worked for him, but I had tried also and no update was available there either; I didn't guess that I might have had to repair or reinstall the xBox app.)
  4. Great! I didn't think of doing that since I don't use the xBox app except for playing AOE2. I bought my MSFS2020 at the MS Store and always only updated from there in the past.
  5. (Regarding hotfix never showing up in the MS Store) Thank you. It's too late for me, though. After trying half a dozen more proposed solution recommended on the Microsoft FS forum, and none of them worked, I attempted a trick that involves temporarily renaming the main FS2020 install folder, and that some users claimed worked like a charm. In my case, it completely busted my installation so now I am forced to redownload the whole 130GB shebang.
  6. Thanks, I tried all three of your suggestions, to no avail. I also tried to repair the FS2020 app, reset the MS Store app, rebooted the PC a few more times. I'm still caught in this loop. FS2020 always tell me a mandatory update is available, closes down, and opens the MS Store where there is no update available. Lastly, I tried uninstalling the MS Store app, but it seems like it's part of Windows 10 and the option for uninstalling it is greyed out.
  7. Any luck since posting? I have a similar problem. Never had this problem before. After launching FS2020, the app tells me an update is available from the MS store, then quits and launches the MS Store app. (I had bought the app from the store after cancelling my xBox PC game pass). But there is no update available. Rebooted the PC a few times. No effect. Checking for updates in the MS Store yields the message that all my trusted apps are up to date. It also says that FS2020 was last updated on July 27th. (That was SU5). Still can't launch the sim. It checks for updates, tells me an update from the MS Store is mandatory, closes down and opens the MS Store where I am told that the sim us up to date.
  8. Is it normal to have one's online status marked "offline" and the option to switch servers greyed out (pop up list disabled) whenever multiplayer mode is switched off? This is what I've experienced since Sim Update 5. Ever since FS2020 came out, live traffic always has been very sparse and erratic in my case. Most of the time, I can barely see any live traffic, whether on the world map or in the game, even at large international hubs. (Very seldom, three or four little green planes will pop up on the world map, and soon disappear. Switching servers didn't seem to help). Now, after the update, I can only connect to any server at all when multiplayer mode is turned on. I then get plenty of traffic, but it's mostly all fellow sim players, of course. I didn't see any live traffic, but maybe it's drowned out by multiplayer traffic. (I do have "Real Time Traffic Online" in traffic settings.)
  9. I also wasn't able to start any flight after the SU5 update. The loading progress would stop halfway and FS2020 would freeze forever. I had to kill the process to get out and relaunch the application. Then I noticed that I was offline and the options to connect to any server were disabled. I also noticed that multiplayer was turned off, and after I turned it on I was able to start flights again. But whenever I turn multiplayer mode off, I get immediately disconnected from the server and can't start flights anymore. So, it seems that from now on, single player mode isn't an option.
  10. If you land to, or depart from, the newer EGHC, Land's End Airport, don't miss out on visiting the interior of the terminal. It has been beautifully rendered!
  11. I had noticed one such spike (big distant pyramid shaped, that was disappearing when approached) when heading eastbound from Montreal CYUL. After this new World Update, it's gone.
  12. I had earlier reported issues with framerate and stutters over London. I meanwhile edited my post. I had removed the conflicting ORBIX London pack after installing the update. It may still have been conflicting. After restarting MS2020 and rebooting my PC, the stutters were gone and the frame rate was back to normal (and maybe was even improved over pre-update performance).
  13. (Regarding stuttering, see edit at the end...) The clouds are much improved -- not just texture-wise but also color-wise. The ash reddish hue seems gone. They're bluer and more natural looking. I went to Oxford and then to London. London looks beautiful but, unfortunately, almost the whole trip from Heathrow and back was a stuttering mess. It was more of a slideshow than a flight. There is a half a second long freeze every one or two seconds. I'm hoping this will be somewhat resolved with cache building and/or some settings tweaking. I've experienced some stutters before, but nothing remotely comparable even flying above Tokyo, New York, Chicago, Paris (and London before). Approaching Heathrow for landing, heading West, the stuttering was gone. Turning my nose back towards London immediately brought the stuttering (and massive framerate drop) back. Edited to add: Merely restarting the application (and restarting my PC, for good measure) resolved my stuttering issue over London. I'm guessing that, maybe, removing the ORBIX London City Landmarks pack after the update wasn't enough. It either ought to be removed before installing the update or, else, a restart might be required. So, now, there is no more stutters and the frame rate is very decent.
  14. I thought is was very clever how they dealt with the large building bug. They're now hiding them behind large trees!
