Hi guys, I searched in the forum but didn't found recent posts on this argument; so I decided to open a new thread about the very essential changes you should make, in your opinion, in FSX.CFG I run FSX:SE DX10 (Steave FX) on a not up-to-date machine so, out of the box, with MD11, NGX and DASH8 and ASN (on client pc) I got about 18-21 fps on ground with 70% of AI traffic But I'm curios about: 1) do you use HT? 2) AffinityMask 3) FFTF 4) other? Thanks a lot, Ric

We are thinking about changing the image posting rules. Please read and provide us your opinion. First, a great contributor to the AVSIM processor load is resizing and display of hosted images; that is, for images that are saved and displayed by our system here. Images hosted elsewhere are also resized to in order to fit our rules of display size. Second, the availability of free storage space on the Internet has become easily accessible to everyone. Examples are Dropbox, Google drive, personal sites that allow you to host images (like Google's Picasa albums, etc.). Here is what we are considering: AVSIM's screenshot forum becomes "hosted elsewhere" only. We shut down all upload rights to the SS form, Real Aviation photos etc. The only images allowed there will be those that are hosted elsewhere. Images that show examples of issues and which meet our size requirements and are appropriate for the other forums will be allowed to be uploaded in the other forums. In those forums where hosting is required, we would allow as many images as the poster would like to put in the topic. Again, we are just thinking about this change. How do you feel about this step? You can participate in the discussion in the forums here.

We are moving furniture around!Seriously, we are moving forums around, making more sense of the categories, deleting some, putting others in hibernation and with more to follow. So, bear with us folks as things get more "refined" around this joint.

It has been suggested that we consider changing our image hosting and posting policies. It has been suggested that AVSIM no longer host images, but instead ask users here to host their own images. With the increase in free storage available, such as Google, Microsoft, and the many other Cloud based storage providers, this suggestion has some merit. What would it impact in terms of our policies? If we were to do that, we would reduce the restriction on the number of images shown here. We would probably double it from 10 to 20. We would also most likely increase, somewhat, the physical size of the image allowed to be seen here in the forums. Just to make this clear... WE HAVE NOT DECIDED TO DO THIS. We are taking suggestions and are encouraging discussion here. So, with that caveat, what do you think about this approach?

We have a lot of areas on AVSIM that get lost in the "menu shuffle". So, in the coming days, we are going to start re-arranging things a bit, using some under utilized areas on AVSIM to host menus. The black bar at the top, where your user control panel link is the most prominent. You can anticipate that most of the major features of AVSIM will move up to that area. Once you start to see the changes take place, if you have any questions, you can post them here.
