October 19, 200223 yr Commercial Member Good Afternoon! As promised on Friday, I will be making a series of announcements regarding the future business plan of PMDG! During the past few months, all of us at PMDG have begun the process of shifting our development focus from our previous product lines for FLY!/FLY!II toward the more broadly accepted platform of Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002.As this shift has taken place, we have been heavily tasked with research, development and transporting existing code into a new simulation environment that promises to provide a new and interesting series of development possibilities for the entire PMDG team!Previously, we have announced two minor projects that are underway at PMDG: The YAK-52 and the BAe J-41! Beginning with the announcement of these products we began to receive customer feedback that led us to begin consideration of a larger project to suite the needs of a larger portion of the aviation simulation customer base. Overwhelmingly our customers began telling us that while a regional turboprop would make a great addition to the marketplace, they were eagerly awaiting PMDG's release of a full airliner simulator under Microsoft's Flight Simulator. After a significant amount of deliberation, we have elected to shift focus for our first product development cycle to a product that we are very confident will please the customer base that has learned to appreciate PMDG's knowledge and expertise in large airliner cockpits/operations!As such, I am pleased to announce the development of:Boeing 737: The Next Generation! This product is currently under development and a release date has been set for early 2003. I have placed a full announcement at our web site, which you can read at www.precisionmanuals.com This is the first of a series of annoucements I have in store for you today, so check back later this afternoon!Thank you on behalf of all of the PMDG team for the great support you have shown us during the past year. Shifting the development focus of a company such as our is a difficult and often directionless task, but we are confident that you will be excited to see the results of our efforts during the past two months!I will provide more information on the 737, the YAK52 and J41 shortly!Robert S. October 19, 200223 yr Hi Rob,This is GREAT news!!! I can't resist asking this question - Will a DLL be developed for use with the MCP747?Looking forward to the remaining announcements.Regards,Bob Lyddy
October 19, 200223 yr Hi everyone,I was somewhat dismayed by PMDG's decision to drop J-41 but if this is what most customers want - so bid.As far as your 737NG goes (and your other future FS products) I would like to take this opportunity and update you about some very exciting things coming from one of your competitors, it is still relatively quiet on the subject on the MSFS forum (and you could have missed it) but some of us are incredibly excited since it looks like a major breakthrough in instrument/gauge design in FS. I am talking about Flight1 teaming up with Reality-XP to deliver Piper Meridian (for now). Reality-XP claims to have overcome some serious FS-limitations and are able to deliver smooth, razor-sharp instruments and jaggies-free modern glass displays. They claim to be instrument-specialists only with no desire or know-how to deliver complete aircraft therefore they found the partner. This is just me thinking aloud but you could at least try to approach Reality-XP and inquire about their technology. Sounds to me like 737NG could benefit enormously from this new revolution which is just around the corner. On their web-site Reality-XP states that in real world and aircraft is built by combining parts from different vendors and the same technique could be used in simulation. I absolutely agree with them.If anyone wants to see some truly eye-popping Meridian pics:http://ftp.avsim.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboa...orum=DCForumID8www.reality-xp.comMichael J. Michael J.
