May 29, 200323 yr Listen, as I said, I would love to love this product. I was eagerly anticipating it. I love the NG and have flown on many a Delta 737-800 in my travels.Am I not allowed to defend my position from somebody who has the nerve to call me blind and question my sanity? To insult me (like the other guy did) and tell me to take my angry little ego elsewhere is rude beyond belief. I didn't insult you personally, why do you insult me personally? I'm trying to help. This forum is full of yes-men and people who don't seem to be the choosy customers who love DreamFleet and Captain Sim products.I'll admit it, I'm very particular. Visuals are extremely important in a package. Visuals are what absolutely ruined the RfP 742 package. DreamFleet 734 and Wilco 767 PIC are perfect examples of functionality and visuals in one package. To say that there are NG pilots participating is great. As I said, functionality isn't the problem. That looks great. And the exterior model and texturing looks fantastic. Perhaps these pilots are focusing much more on functionality than visuals. And it's not like the panel visuals are terrible. They are a 7 out of 10. If I showed any average person the PMDG panel compared to the DreamFleet 734, they would chose the immersion factor of the DreamFleet product. Don't you want to top DreamFleet's 3 year old product? Don't you want to strive for a 10?I want this package to be a 10 all around. Functionality, visuals, sound, extras, exterior model, etc.
May 29, 200323 yr Commercial Member Hello everyone! As Anthony is completing our FMC, getting it ready for beta testing, I decided it's time to show a couple of pictures, to wet everyone's appetite! (as if it's not already wet! :-lol).So, I made an example SID for our own Athens Int'l Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos - LGAV), and used it for a sample trip: LGAV - LGAL (Alexandroupolis, in the north of Greece). What you cannot see is that I am following the NEVRA 1J departure from LGAV 03R, and then on to G33 jetway direct to ALX.Here are the pics (standard disclaimer: These are STILL development pics, so expect discrepancies, and let us know NICELY about them!):http://www.precisionmanuals.com/public/fmc_1.jpghttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/public/fmc_2.jpgCheers, Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
May 29, 200323 yr Ryan,>> just look at that FMC, no one has done the things they've done before. That syntax for coding the DPs and STARs is bordering on natural language - it's awesome!I absolutely agree with your post. And as visuals are somewhat the topic here, it all depends on the point of view anyway. Look at the well rounded flight path along the waypoints in the ND ( even better visible in the night screenshot on their site). In many Addons you see zig-zag lines along the waypoints instead (and the corresponding plane struggling to follow that). That's an example where visual quality counts and it great to see PMDG seems to be on the same wavelenght like me regarding that kind of attention to details.Sadly some people forget there is FLIGHTsimulator written on their box and not "aviation screenshot simulator".Michael
May 29, 200323 yr >I'd caution you not to draw too much inference from the images>Lefteris posted here- they are quite poor, mostly because of>the fact that I have set a distintive silver/blue hue to the>cockpit lighting for test purposes. (Allows me to match color>differentiation when turning certain hard to see items on/off>at night in order to ensure they appear appropriately...it>also causes certain types of visual distortions in the>hundreds of annunciator lights to be more clearly visible than>they are in a darkly lit cockpit or in a daytime cockpit.)Hey:Not saying your arguments are wrong or anything, but if the thread is to preview the FMC, why not do so with daytime shots for it instead of nighttime where, as you said yourself, there's color distortion? Just wondering. FMC looks good, but I must lean towards Dave's interpretation, that specific night lighting (be it BETA or final) makes it look low definition. As it is it looks pretty poor. I am sure it'll look WAYYY better by the time we get it though. Good job fellas.Cheers,Daniel Pimentel
May 30, 200323 yr It's just my guess that Lefteris chose to post night shots so that he can show the lit up keyboard of the FMC...Just a though...George DorkofikisAthens, Greece
May 30, 200323 yr Commercial Member Gents-so that everyone stops guessing:I chose to post the night shots because it was at night that I was taking the shots. (So it was done by pure luck). My point was to show the FMC's capabilities, flight path, SID, curved lines, etc.Had I known I'd have caused an uproar, I'd have chosen NOT to show anything until the end product comes out.(In fact, I am very disheartened with the whole process of commenting on UNFINISHED stuff, so I'll think twice about posting any more screenshots now). May 31, 200323 yr Hello Lefteris, Robert and everyone in this forum.First, one month ago, I was very very excited with your B737NG series. Reading trough the panel
June 1, 200323 yr Recognizing that this is a work in progress, I saw this on airliners.net:http://www.airliners.net/open.file/093227/L/Seems to me if you dim the lights out the blue color would look something close to what we see in these screenshots. But that is of course MHO. ;-)Besides the color, the placement of the guages, etc. looks great. Can't wait to see a VC picture!I an' I gonna keep on keepin' on - gettin' close!
Ken Salter (aka SaltyDog)
MSFS & Fly! June 1, 200323 yr I can respect your remarks. My personal choice in any aircraft for flight simulator first and foremost is it's replication of the flight model. I want a complete FMC with all the trimmings, as far as FS will allow of course. This is why I fly flight sim, for the simple fact that I will never sit in the cockpit of the real world counter part. My favorite aircraft is PIC 767 although I was never really impressed with it's panel because that is not what a 757-767 looks like. But it flys as close to the real deal to make up for any lacking items such as the panel. It's just my opinion of course here and like I said I can respect yours too. I have every picture there is on Airliners web site (cockpit shots) and notice that it does indeed appear very much like PMDG's NG. These are alpha pictures mind you and you can expect much more fine tuning on these options like lighting etc. So give a little time here for the process to fully develope, I am sure that *most* will be happy with the results of the team...
