PMDG_737NG_THR_CENTER_CONSOLE SP1 update problem

Featured Replies

PMDG/All,Whilst running the SP1 update on FS2002 I received an error message that the PMDG_737NG_THR_CENTER_CONSOLE/GAU file couldn't be updated. The update otherwise completed satisfactorily. However, on loading the 737 and pressing T the image below is displayed. Clearly the sides of the gauge have been lost. If I undock the throttle panel the whole of it is visible.Anyone else had this problem and is there a known fix?http://forums.avsim.com/user_files/27300.jpgCheers,

Ray (Cheshire, England).

You will have to manually remove the install and reinstall the original release than run the patch again. This is IF you have saved you ORIGINAL RELEASE EXE and files ;)Locate the PMDGOptions.DLL in the modules folder and delete it.C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002MODULESLocate the *PMDG GAUs from the GAUGES folder and delete.C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002Locate the PMDG FOLDER from the main FS folder and delete.C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002Locate the PMDG 600/700/700WL Aircraft folders and delete.C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002aircraftLocate the PMDG Sound folder and delete.C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesFS2002SOUNDMost important, if you did not MOVE the license folder with the updat, DO NOT DELETE IT, it's the numbered folder in the MODULES FOLDER, if the patch installer moved it, you will be ok and not need to worry about it.[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Hi Randy,Thanks for your quick reply and detailed instructions. However, I think I have found the problem. The new PANEL.CFG has this entry...[Window07] // PMDG_THROTTLE_PANELfile=737NG_Center_Background_1280.bmp file_1024=737NG_Center_Background_1280.bmp size_mm=480,720But the original has this...[Window07] // PMDG_THROTTLE_PANELfile=737NG_Center_Background_1280.bmp file_1024=737NG_Center_Background_1280.bmp size_mm=960,720Note the size differences. When I replaced the newly created PANEL.CFG with my original the problem disappeared. Is this just a finger problem with the developers? Perhaps you could check your panel.cfg and report back? I'm in the middle of a flight at the moment and everything seems to be okay using the original PANEL.CFG.Cheers,

I have the top entry, Ray, to be honest with you I would reinstall, it could be more than we know that did not get copied correctly, this seems to be a MAJOR issue in many of the reported problems being incorrect installation and thinking the patch is causing crashes etc. It's your call..[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Randy,A couple of other issues during the now-terminated flight make me believe the patch has not been applied correctly. Before I perform a full-deinstall, re-install and apply the patch a second time I will download the patch again just to make sure I have the correct one. And yes, I did save the originally downloaded files.I'm struggling to come to terms with your advice that the only resolution is a full deinstall and reinstall just to install updated files. Whilst I commend the dedication of the PMDG team I can't help thinking this product requires a lot of intervention by the end user and many might not have the required degree of expertise.Oh well, one day it might all work as intended. :-( Thanks,

Well there might be another but to be honest, that's what I always have done and works for me, you can sure try to reinstall the patch again first, but what I understand is that it looks for the original unmodified files and overwrites them, but heck it's too late for clear thinking ;)...[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Randy,<>In that case you too must have a truncated throttle panel? How could you not with settings like those? Unless perhaps my PMDG_737NG_THR_CENTER_CONSOLE.GAU file wasn't updated. The date/time on mine is 30 June 20:28hrs. Is your's different? You recommend applying the patch a second time but on a fresh install but what's to say it won't cause the same problem again?Did any of the beta testers experience any problems during the application of the patch? From the number of reported problems there does appear to be a problem with it.I will apply the newly downloaded patch a second time but on my current installation. If that fails I'll have a think about my next step.Cheers,

Well there seems to be only a few issues with installs, one, that some people with COF and FS2002 don't point the installer to the correct path and two, it sometimes finds modified or files that it does not want to overwrite etc. My Gau file is different than yours too. I did not have any problems installing. I wish you success![h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. Hi, When I load the pedestal where the engines are, the display is too big in the beginning. How to make it smaller like in the first version of PMDG?ThanksCoimbra

Randy and all,Here's the latest and it's not pretty reading. After applying the patch a second time and noting the new date against the gauge files I now cannot load FS2002 at all. I'm not pointing any fingers at this installation as it could just be a mammoth co-incidence.I've renamed my FS2002 folder and installed a temporary FS2002 and that runs okay. So, something has become corrupted in my original installation. I'm not happy because despite now having FS2004 I wanted to keep FS2002 for the 767PIC and other aircraft that won't port across. When I ran the update a second time there's an option right at the end to reboot the PC immediately. I chose this option and then received a warning message that a file or files couldn't be updated. I didn't get specific details but it referred to the 737-700 Winglets folder. XP hung after this and I had to reboot manually.A sad and sorry tale from a very peeved user.

Hi Ray,I have got exactly the same problem after applying the patch.Adjusting the panel.cfg (480 -> 960) like you suggested didn't help, because it only duplicates the already (partially) visible throttle quadrant. The installation of the patch itself was flawlessly, that is: I didn't get any error messages.Either it has to do something with the panel, or I caused this by installing the Detonator 45.20 drivers. Anyone else having the same problems? I am fully aware that this is a 'beta' patch but I wouldn't expect this kind of errors to happen. Oh well, I guess that's the price to pay.

Hi Randy,I removed the 'old' installation and reinstalled everything completely. This did the trick, all is fine now. Thanks for the hint.Egbert

I also had a problem with the centre console graphics afterre-installing the SP1. To cure the problem all I did was todelite fs2002 cfg file, upon starting up fs2002 I just adjusted my config as usual and all problems were cured! As a matter of interest I have a Athlon1.3 ,Asus A7v, G force2 gts proand 512mg of 133 sdram. Most of my sliders are at max and I get 18fpsmost of the time.If I use vc it drops to around 15-16 which is not bad for my setup.Cheers,David Pedder

Hi, I am experiencing a somewhat similar problem: My throttle quadrant is too big (the attached image will illustrate). I am in no ways a master of panel tricks, so if anyone could enlighten me I would appreciate it big time :-) With thanks in advance,Boaz Lev

I'm not seeing this problem at all, but what I did notice is that when clicking the "T" on the panel switcher, the thorttle console now covers up the panel switcher when it opens, forcing you to either drag it out of the way, or close it manually with a right click. Anyone know how to change the default position of the window when it pops up?Ryan
