August 4, 200322 yr Would you guys please post what should we add to the panel.cfg to make the Garmin GPS work within your panel?Thank you.Jacek Gawecki
August 4, 200322 yr >PMDG does not support user modifications. >>Vin Scimone>PMDGWould you object if other users help each other out on this forum, with the understanding that you don't provide any support for user-modified configs beyond telling them to deinstall/re-install?If you don't object, then I (and others) can put in appropriate snippets for this kind of stuff.-Tim
August 4, 200322 yr Could I ask how come? I didn't receive any problems with the same question from Phoenix Simulations guys.
August 4, 200322 yr >>>Would you object if other users help each other out on this forum, with the understanding that you don't provide any support for user-modified configs beyond telling them to deinstall/re-install?>>>No objection. It is not that we disallow the user from tinkering, it is just that if a problem arises with a tinkered-with-product, we will no longer offer you support without a clean install.

I'll post some stuff tonight on adding the GARMIN GPS to panel.cfg file, in much the same manner as adding the liveries to aircraft.cfg.-Tim
August 4, 200322 yr >I didn't receive any problems with the same question from Phoenix Simulations guysNot sure this is accurate. I am also a PSS customer and they have mentioned the same policy many times in their forum. They don't support any third party changes to their software and require a clean install before providing support. They don't mind you tinkering, and may even make a few suggestions. But if you run into a problem they only provide support with a clean install.George George Morris
August 5, 200322 yr >OK... I'll post some stuff tonight on adding the GARMIN GPS to>panel.cfg file, in much the same manner as adding the liveries>to aircraft.cfg.>>-TimOK... here's what you need to do to add the Garmin to the NG panel.First, standard disclaimer. Neither I or PMDG provide any support for this mod. Be sure to make backups of all files before you edit them. You'll have to edit panel.cfg in the PMDG737-700panel directory, and also edit panel.cfg in the PMDG737-700panel.vc directory.First in the [Window Titles] Section:------------------------------------------[Window Titles]Window00=Dummy Main ViewWindow01=Main PanelWindow02=Zoomed PanelWindow03=Approach PanelWindow04=Landing PanelWindow05=CDUWindow06=OverheadWindow07=ThrottlesWindow08=RadioStackWindow09=IRS Unit//Window10=debuggerWindow11=PFD PopupWindow12=ND PopupWindow13=EICAS PopupWindow14=Right CDUWindow15=Garmin_GPS //Add this line - TMM adds Garmin-------------------------------------Then add this section right before the Side Windows definitions:-----------------------------------//--------------------------------------------------------[Window15] // GARMIN_GPS added by TMMsize_mm=456,378window_size=0.5position=8BACKGROUND_COLOR=0,0,0VISIBLE=0ident=GARMIN_GPSgauge00=fs9gps!gps_500, 0,0----------------------------------------Repeat this process for both panel.cfg files. To activate the GPS window, you need to go to the Menu Bar, select Views, Instrument Panel, and you'll see GARMIN_GPS in the list.Happy flying!-Tim
August 6, 200322 yr Hi Vin,Could you or aomeone else please confirm or otherwise: That editing panel.cfg or sound.cfg, or adding .bmp files to Panel or .wav files to Sound; that none of these will cause the user license security thing to lock us out of the sim? Thanks,Bruce. ASEL, Instrument. KBJC, Colorado.
August 6, 200322 yr I do not believe this is any problem as long as you do not touch your license folder wherever it happens to reside. I have been messing with a bit map myself for kicks, can you tell what part I modified?? Gold star if you get it ;)http://forums.avsim.net/user_files/28635.jpg[h5]Best Wishes,Randy J. August 6, 200322 yr Commercial Member Gents-FIRST A REMIND ABOUT THE PMDG REQUIREMENT FOR USING YOUR NAME WHEN POSTING IN THIS FORUM. (Thank you!)PMDG and most other developers will not provide support in the event that you have made modifications to your setup- as there is virtually no way for us to troubleshoot your problem effectively if we are unable to predict exactly what you have modified and what conflicts you might introduce by accident. We are less concern with you tinkering- but we are very concerned about the difficulty in supporting an conflicts or errors that may arise from it.hence- if you've made user modifications and a problem comes up- you are going to have to reinstall clean before we can help you....I hope that clarifies... Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
