I'm curious as to that question as well - I'm really desperate as my frame rate issue has not been solved, hopefully this tip will help.

Hi Gents, there are quite a few 'tweaks' coming out over in the FS2004/COF/9 forum, the link for which I will add below. There are too many to put here. All I can say, is there are a lot of busy people out there finding ways to try and speed this monster up.As far as the AGP Texture trick, here goes:In your fs9.cfg, under your display graphics cards (the round brackets must be replaced with square brackets, and the display device may differ, unless you are using a GF4 Ti4200):(DISPLAY.Device.NVIDIA GeForce4 Ti 4200 with AGP8X.0)Mode=1024x768x32TriLinear=1TextureAGP=0 <------------------------- Add this lineThe link to the FS2K4 forum is: http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...id=129218&page=Hope some of the tips may get you the frame rate you're after.....Bryan

Sir,Thank you for the excellent product :)Could you please share your FS9 settings, because with the VCthe B737NG almost kills my framerates in bad weather (i.e. 10 or below)...Looks like I

Here is a suggestion for giving highest priority to FS9 with PENTIUM PROCESSORS. Don't know if it will work with AMD processors.First, open notepad and create a text file with the following line of text:Start/high fs9.exeSave the text file to your flight simulator 9 directory. Make sure you name the text file Start FS9.bat. The .bat extension is critical because it creates a batch file for starting FS9.Next, open windows explorer and navigate to the flight simulator 9 directory. Locate the file and drag it to the desktop with the right mouse button. From the menu choose "Create Shortcut here."This is optional. You can delete the "Flight Simulator FS2004" icon from your desktop. Open the properties of the Start FS.bat icon just added. Choose "Change Icon" from the bottom of the menu. You will get a warning message that the file has no icons. Click OK. A box will appear allowing you to choose icons. Click the browse button, navigate to you flight simulator 9 directory, and choose the file, FS9.exe. Click on the Flight Simulator 9 icon and choose OK. This will change the icon for the batch file to the flight simulator 2004 icon. Now start FS2004 with this icon. You should see some improvement on frame rates, or at least a steading of frame rates. This works with Windows XP and Windows 2000. I don't know about Windows 98 or 95.This batch file sets the Intel processor to give maximum performance to the application running. It can be used with other programs, like Radar Contact, by following a similar procedure.Haven't seen this posted in the forums yet, but it may have been.

This has to be a system specific issue as I am "only" running a 2.5 Ghz Athlon with 1 gb DDR ram and I have ALL sliders maxed out and the NG runs smooth as silk, and oh yea, running FOUR monitors (although there are some "issues" with FS9 and MM's that I am trying to sort out but the FPS are locked at 30 FPS) I notice that most folks are not listing what OS they are running. I am running XP Pro. WOnder if it is OS related issues between the "no problems" and the "slider showers"?? And the survey says........... Mike B.

Hi Vin!If you don't mind, could you tell us what machines were used in te process of making 737NG. Regards.Dennise

Cuyler:I read a post that advised something similar to your suggestion, but your's seems to be the neatest. Their suggestions was to use something like this:Cmd /c start "" /HIGH/Dc:fs2002 c:fs2002fs2002.exewhich seems to help. Is your method essentially doing the same thing but in a more elegant way? Thanks

Hi,I as well have some problems with too less FPS at VC. I get only around 5 to 7 frames per second in spot view at flightlevel or when I switch to VC in flight.

Cuyler...What a great fix! I've combined your fix with the new cloud textures. Amazing, I can max out the cloud settings and still get 20fps and that's with a 1.7.Thanks a lot.Dave FisherCYYZ

If you place the batch file in the FS2004 root directory, you don't need all of that other stuff. XB knows to run a batch file with CMD and since the batch file is in the FS2004 directory it will find FS9.exe just fine. You only need the complete path if you place the batch file someplace else. One caution! Giving FS2004 highest priority will kill anything else you may try to run with the Flight Simulator. I tried to print a flight plan out of FS2004 and found that the printer finally timed out because the flight simulator had all the power!

Wrote this in another post already but its better placed here. There is a texture issue i would like PMDG to consider. It for sure makes a much better performance for those who don't own the 256 mb videoboards. For one 737-700 i changed all the 32 bit textures into dxt1 or dxt3 if with alpha. The approach plate, which i don't use i made it 8 bit, 512x512.This reduced the total texturesize for that aircraft from 48.5 to 18.2 MB! And its a remarkable change, the aicraft loads much faster and switching views is faster too. But best of all, the annoying stops from memory swaps don't occur which i had too (128mb board) when loading the default 737-700. Texture formats however don't make a lot of difference to fps. There is no noticable loss in quality when converting the textures to dxt. I really love this plane, sounds are great too, never seen and heard turbines spinning up or down, like this one does. Keep going these fine creations.Gerrit Kranenbarg

Hi GerritWhat program did you use to do that? Sounds like it'd be handy for me, too.

Hi Paul, Imagetool, that came with Gmax installer on one of the Fs2002 cd's.Haven't found it yet on Fs2004 cd.best regards, Gerrit

Gerrit

Finally found it, converted all the textures for the 600 as per your instructions and it works just fine.Thank you!

Hi,well, I will try it this way manualy. But I am not pleased PMDG deleted my thread without that I have flamed anyone. Just I told one of PMDG to first read my signe befor crying out for info he already got within my post. So, the issue is still not resolved by PMDG that the frames are too low even on a high end system when flown in VC and viewed in spot-view. It should not be nessesary for customers to change the textures manualy what PMDG could have done for us in the first place. So, please PMDG reply here to my postings you deleted yesterday and dont delete those postings where I never flamed anyone.
