August 5, 200322 yr Hi Guys..I don't mean to beat this topic into the ground but, I'm still getting poor framerates. When I use comparible add-ons I'm getting 17-22fps during flight. With the 737NG and the no VC model, I'm lucky to 13fps in the same situation. That's with everything at 50%. Am I being too optimistic to expect decent framerates. Like I said I get good fps with all the other payware so I know my system can handle it.What is everybody else getting?Dave FisherCYYZ
August 5, 200322 yr Well your doing much better than my computer Dave. I just completed the remove, re-install and latest patch and my frames rates are in the tank. Not low and I'm spoiled with 25's in the tank but 7 to 8 fps with any clouds in 2D view. The plane is unflyable as it slide shows terribly. Additionally, when I start and exit FS9 with the PMDG737, my computer comes to a grinding halt as memory is shifted around, which has nothing to do with my video card.My computer is slow, but a 2.0gig P4 should not be pulled down to parade rest by any application's memory swapping. It takes 20 seconds for the plane to show up once selected in the create flight mode and forever for FS9 to start. I'm shelving this plane until I have a better video card and hopefully some additional optimization by PMDG. I just took a short flight in PIC in FS2002 and realize how important smooth simulation is to me. Good luck with your system Dave.BobP :)GW2K 2gig P4512 Meg DDRGeforce3 - latest Nvidia DriversSliders set below default Bob Prince
August 5, 200322 yr I don't have an FPS issue but I did noticed that I get lower FPS in FS9 than in fs2002 WHOEVER with out of the box installs of both MSFS (without add ons) I get higher FPS in FS9 than FS2002 with equal or comparable settings. So aparently there is something with the 737 in FS9.Jos
August 5, 200322 yr Author Hi Bob..I have almost the same specs as you only I'm running a 1.7 and a G4/Ti4200/128. Thats more than enough to run all the other products with decent fps. I really hope this can be resolved because this is a sweet aircraft.Dave FisherCYYZ
August 5, 200322 yr Commercial Member You didnt mention how you have been optimizing FS9.VinPMDGwww.precisionmanuals.comhttp://www.vinscimone.com/dancnkid.gif Vin Scimone Precision Manuals Development Group www.precisionmanuals.com
August 5, 200322 yr Sorry to sound daft, but if your performance in FS9 is so bad, why not just stick with FS8 for the 73G?People have been bashing FS8 to death on other forums, (not saying you are) and it's driving me crazy, FS2002 is NOT a bad sim and the PMDG 737-700 with Virtual cp works wonderfully. In FS9 it seriously sucks. For me it's a no brainer, use both sims, LOL! :-)Robert Helton
August 5, 200322 yr Well this has to be one for the book.I just did some tweaking of both FS9 and the 737NG and everything turned out just great on a LONG flight from KIAD to KLAX.First my system spec's. P4 1.7ghz with 512mb RAM with a nVidia 4200/64 video card runnign the new beta 4520 drivers.Second, I turned off both AA and AF from the properties of the driver under Win XP. My resolution is at 1280/960/32. I also made most of the updates that JohnCi recommends in his post to the FS9.cfg that really helped also. Chris Willis has most of those in post on the MSFS general forum.Third, I locked my FPS at 10 to free up resources for the sim and my "puter" to work with a little less effort. I set autogen at normal, I have 100% 3D clouds at 40 miles draw, I reduced the sound level under FS9's options to low, pulled the PMDG settings for guages to a FPS of 5. Most of the other settings are at 3/4 of the sliders.I know there is more things I did, but with all this, I got NO stutters at either Washington Dulles (KIAD), and none at LAX (KLAX) when I landed. I have done the remove and then re-install with the new SP1 Update and things are working just GREAT :-)There are some really good tips on the main forum, plus the update here at PMDG and I am really a happy camper right now. The flight from KIAD to KLAX is almost six hours, so I had a good chance to see if the memory leak was fixed and on my system it is!!!!!!!!I know that Robert and the team worked their behinds off to get the patch to work good and on my rig it is doing just that.Great Job GuysBob JohnsonKDEN

I have more than enough to explore with FSD's Commander and Cheyenne and every approach in the US! LOL.It is obviously my system and I'm getting to old to spend 3 days trying to get one airplane to fly with simulation frames in real time. Although the load times try my patience. :) I get a wonderful 20fps with everything except the 737NG and understand and accept the complexity is a penalty for me. Hopefully a new video card will help. Until then I'll do the same thing; use both! :)BobP :) Bob Prince
August 5, 200322 yr Author I'll checkout your settings, and see if it makes any differance.Dave FisherCyyz
August 5, 200322 yr Author Bob.......I tweeked around with your suggestions and got a 10FPS INCREASE.I forgot it took me weeks to get 2002 working right, it's just a little trial and error until yo get the sim humming. Thanks,Dave FisherCYYZ
August 6, 200322 yr I have just one question, are we ever going to hear a statement from PMDG about this? I really don't want to sound like a jerk but I feel that for some of the users with a little bit stronger PC's, drastic adjustments to the display options to save fps are not necessary. I really don't want anyone from PMDG to get offended by this as you guys came out with a great bird that I'm really getting used to. It only bothers me that the performance of the sim is affected by the frame drop within the panels and even in the spot view.I personally think that with these specs I should be getting a bit better performance than 5-6 fps:P4 2.8CGigabyte MoboSATA 120G HD1G DDR PC3200GF4 Ti4600and nothing on the drive besides the sim and your addon.Jacek Gawecki
August 6, 200322 yr Commercial Member Jacek-thanks for being so polite. We really appreciate it. ;-)As for the frame rates - on my 2.4GHz 1GB DDR PC2700 machine with a GF4 Ti4200, I get 20-25 frames at night, with clouds. I bet there are issues with your setup in FS9, not attributed to our PMDG 737NG. However, as FS9 is still new, you have to tweak and make sure that you have made your particular installation work best for you. There's nothing internal to the 737NG that would cause FS9 to be slower.Just one hint- make sure you've removed the 737NG completely, then reinstalled and installed the Service Update. If in doubt, redownload the Service Update and apply it from the beginning - it is bound to clear up your troubles. Lefteris Kalamaras - Founder www.flightsimlabs.com
August 6, 200322 yr Thank you Lefteris, I will spend some time on it tonight and see if I can tweek it to the satisfactory point.
August 6, 200322 yr Hello!Check my posts on this side. Also tweaked the system and got a 10-15 fpd raise.Belive it or not.And the main thing i did do,was to disable the AGP Texture Acceleration under the dxdiag programm, and in the FS9.cfg file. The VC still poses a treat to FPS,so i do NOT use the VC until the fps problem has been solved. My fps gain, came because of not using VC too.
August 7, 200322 yr Hey,>And the main thing i did do,was to disable the AGP Texture>Acceleration under the dxdiag programm, and in the FS9.cfg>file.I was wondering how you disable AGP Texture Accel. in FS9.cfg? Do you have a screen shot of what this looks like in FS9.cfg? Also does disabling this affect visuals at all... what does it do??? Thanks for the help!Billy
