The beauty arrived!Thank you so much.I waiting so much for the SU2 to fly this beauty!!

Wow Pete, it's amazing how you keep churning out one gorgeous paint after the other. Soon (I hope) I'll be faced with the luxury problem of finding time to fly them all. You da man! :)

don't know, but i think the blue is a bit too light. maybe you want to correct this before releasing it.cheers

Martin, the color I'm using on the MALEV 737-600 and 737-700 were checked against the MALEV Hungarian Airlines web site and is correct as near as FS is able to render it.

well, i basically do not care if you want to change it or not. that's up to you. but here a gift for you. i took it myself on 30th of March 2003. i got even a tail closeup. the color if definitly darker than yours. drop me a line if interested in the large malev set. i cannot post 1:1 file sizecheershttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/47062.jpg

As one who spent many years behind a camera lens and in the darkroom (Photoshop these days) I can tell you that a photo is often not a good judge of color or luminence. The fact that the photo shows a darker blue does not mean that the FS livery is incorrect because it appears lighter. One photo alone should not be used to judge such things, even two or three may not be enough. This is a "battle" we fight constantly in FS: Models, colors and such being judged via a photo or two. Let's not forget either that lighting and reflections in FS can also effect how a color appears.I'm quite certain that I could search out photos that show the color blue appearing lighter or even darker.Everything from time of day /color temperature and camera exposure can effect the appearance of a color. I can under expose a photo by just 1/2 a stop, and that can make a color appear darker. Many photographers (myself included) do this on purpose, to increase saturation. I often intentionally underexpose by up to a full stop, and adjust things later on once the image is in the computer.Frankly, I would never tell an artist that their color of blue is too light or dark simply based on a photo or two. You would need to examine literally dozens of photos to even begin to determine this.In essence, what makes you think that the photo is accurate? Often a photo is NOT accurate in this regard, and I have 30+ years advanced photgraphic exprience behind that statement. Do not assume that because you see it in a photo that it is 100% accurate.Remember, we too examine photos and other materials in order to determine color.Sorry, but I do feel the need to point this out for the sake of those of us who spend many hours doing this kind of paint work. I do feel that the artist knows what he is doing. While well-meaning, we often do not require help in order to "improve" our work. We usually are very good at doing that all on our own, and have access to many resources in order to determine color, etc. ;-)Indeed, for those who do not agree with our choices that is why paint kits are available, so folks can change things to agree with their perception of reality, or to match a particular photo, a photo that may very well not be 100% accurate in its rendition of a color. My comments here are meant to educate, and not to offend anyone. The Malev livery looks just fine to me, nice work! :-)Regards,Lou

Martin, every comment is sought out and encouraged. Your opinion on the shade of blue I'm using was heard. I re-visited the MALEV web site and compared the artwork colors against the web site colors and I'm satisified with the comparison. As Lou pointed out, photo's are very subjective, depending on time of day, type of film used, etc. I've struggled with the same issues on the Southwest Airlines Spirit livery, so much that I've again adjusted this. To my eye it looks closer, but to someone else, it may look too blue or too purple.Lou made some very valuable observations regarding photo's as source material and that's why I'll visit airline web sites in the hopes of coming close to the actual colors used. In some case's even some airlines get their own web site colors wrong. Until someone comes up with a universal color match standard that is agreed upon by the community at large, we'll continue to have these color disagreements. But then, the paint kit is a wonderful means of giving voice to every opinion so I invite you to paintup your own version of the MALEV livery using the PMDG 737NG paint kit.

>...{snip}..Another thing is, how few materials are provided - it's notunheard of that designers have to scan letterheads to get the company logo...{snip}I know about that one. When I was asked to do a website for an air ambulance company in my area, the website that had been setup was so poor, and the company's computer aptitude so low, I was scanning there business cards in with my scanner to get there colors. It was amusing, except for those *hours* I spent tweaking those colors because I couldn't get it just right.
