February 18, 200422 yr This is the beta version of the repaint. As soon as more pictures are available I'll finish and upload it.I need more pitures as I'm not sure about some details (like is the tail painted in a gradient color).GreetingsThomashttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/63507.jpg
February 18, 200422 yr We, as a United VA, appreciate your work. For more information on the livery and it's details, please contact Rob Sakowitz, our Art Director. [email protected] . He can guide you a little bit there. Also I would welcome other repainters to offer submissions to Rob as we are developing a certification process now for "approved livery repaints", as our VA is approved and functions with United Airlines. Thanks and good going! I can't wait to fly it!Wilson HinesUAL006VHQCCSenior Vice President, Corporate Communicationshttp://virtual.united.com --------------------------------------Proficiencies: PSS 747,777, A32x, CS 727,PMDG 737-700---------------------------------------FS2002|ActiveSky|FSRealTime|FSBuild2|FSNav|Jep SimCharts2|ACLoaderhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/checkcapt.jpghttp://heavylhc.com/images/av/anna.jpg
February 19, 200422 yr I love United airlines. Cool paint, really nice. It would be amazing if UAL where to buy some 737NGs.Adam
February 19, 200422 yr Yeah it would, but the way things are going they will probably buy more Airbus products. A good example of that is TED. TED would have been a prime time spot for United to come out and support Boeing with the purchase of more 737NG birds or even 757s. But, we have A 320s. Don't get me wrong, I fully enjoy flying the PSS Airbus line, the whole line. But, there ain't nuttn like a Boeing! :)Wilson HinesUAL006VHQCCSenior Vice President, Corporate Communicationshttp://virtual.united.com --------------------------------------Proficiencies: PSS 747,777, A32x, CS 727,PMDG 737-700---------------------------------------FS2002|ActiveSky|FSRealTime|FSBuild2|FSNav|Jep SimCharts2|ACLoaderhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/checkcapt.jpghttp://heavylhc.com/images/av/anna.jpg
February 19, 200422 yr Thank you, thank you, god bless you! (Isn't this what artists are supposed to say?):-hah Wilson, thank's for you offer. I'm going to contact Rob as soon as I can. And, guys, please excuse the poor quality of my screenshots. I have one of the worst graphic cards you can have for FS9 (GeForce4 MX-440:-erks )CheersThomas
February 19, 200422 yr The first video card I messed with FS under was a GeFarce 3 MX 400 or something like that. Those MXs are cheap and they do quite well under the pressure. But, after messing with FS a little I ran out and got me a GeFarce 4 Ti4600 and paid $435 with shipping. It has lasted since April of 2001!!! It takes beautiful screen shots. But, you know, a friend of mine sent me an e-mail saying that there were GeFarce Fx 550s for $97 on sale at Tiger...I almost crapped! Here is a screen with my Ti4600. 2QS Antialiasing and all that jazz turned "on." This is an early morning shot at RKSS (Seoul, Korea) taking off for Narita, Japan. The smoke? I have no idea, but it is cool! Think of it....as jet blast!ThanksWilson HinesUAL006VHQCCSenior Vice President, Corporate Communicationshttp://virtual.united.com --------------------------------------Proficiencies: PSS 747,777, A32x, CS 727,PMDG 737-700---------------------------------------FS2002|ActiveSky|FSRealTime|FSBuild2|FSNav|Jep SimCharts2|ACLoaderhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/checkcapt.jpghttp://heavylhc.com/images/av/anna.jpghttp://forums.avsim.net/user_files/63675.jpg
February 19, 200422 yr I really like this scheme on the A320 and on the 733. I'm less sold on the 777 (too big a plane perhaps?) and what it will look like on the 744.I am happy to see the grey going away though. That never did anything for me at all!Tim
February 19, 200422 yr You know, I agree with you. The old blue and grey never really did anything for me either. This new scheme will look a bit odd on a 744, but I think it will be ok.It is sharp and clean!Wilson HinesUAL006VHQCCSenior Vice President, Corporate Communicationshttp://virtual.united.com --------------------------------------Proficiencies: PSS 747,777, A32x, CS 727,PMDG 737-700---------------------------------------FS2002|ActiveSky|FSRealTime|FSBuild2|FSNav|Jep SimCharts2|ACLoaderhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/checkcapt.jpghttp://heavylhc.com/images/av/anna.jpg
February 19, 200422 yr Thomas,I also really like the new colors for UAL. Living here in Denver, UAL second largest hub, we are suppose to see the new color 777 land here today.I have my PMDG 737-700 with winglets in the "old" UAL colors, really looking forward to getting the new ones, they are so much brighter than the blue and gray. One of my UAL friends tells me today they have already started to change the trucks and ground equipment colors also. I think is really a good fresh look for United.Let us know when you upload the new paint scheme, and don't forget the winglets LOLCheersBob JohnsonKDEN
February 20, 200422 yr Never ceases to amaze me though, that an airline in financial difficulty can afford to pay millions of dollars to repaint their aircraft. And please, don't critisize me because this is not directly solely at United. Many other airlines in financial difficulty have done the same thing.Regards,Richard Rowe
February 20, 200422 yr It is interesting how they do that. I think UAL has the right heart about it. They have had so much bad publicity over this Chapter 11 they have got to reinvent themselves, if you will, to the public. I was thinking this morning, "How in the world did they ever get the bank (or Airbus Leasing) to go along with buying a dozen new A-320s for TED?" Real simple: TED is supposed to be in the black in four years tops. UAL is coming out of bankruptcy this spring. The attitude of the executives is very positive and I think the livery change was an expensive, yet fundamentally sound, approach to getting new customers and telling their current customer base "we are still here and we aren't going anywhere."History will judge this a good move, IMHOWilson HinesUAL006VHQCCSenior Vice President, Corporate Communicationshttp://virtual.united.com --------------------------------------Proficiencies: PSS 747,777, A32x, CS 727,PMDG 737-700---------------------------------------FS2002|ActiveSky|FSRealTime|FSBuild2|FSNav|Jep SimCharts2|ACLoaderhttp://www.precisionmanuals.com/images/forum/checkcapt.jpghttp://heavylhc.com/images/av/anna.jpg
February 20, 200422 yr Hi Guys,Word here is that TED's Airbus are NOT new, but some of the ones that UAL had before. They got a new paint job and new interiors. As far as how UAL can afford to pait their planes, they repaint them every 5 year anyway. From their web site they plan to paint 72 planes this year and some new CRJ's that their United Express partners have bougth.Giving the airline a fresh new look was built into their new business plan. I think a smart move.BobKDEN
