May 20, 200422 yr PMDG Team,It would be nice to hear some updates about the progress of the 737 SDK. Some comments have been floated around the Home Cockpit Support Forum about the 737 product being opened to the Simpit builders. Is the 737 software open to simple Offsets that could be used through FSUIPC? The biggest issue about being accessed is the overhead panel, could there be more information provided on this front?Would appreciate any information!Kind Regards,
May 27, 200422 yr Hello,i wanted to ask if a release date for the PMDG SDK is set until now?I am intereseted to use the FMC offsets to build an external unit.please inform me when the SDK should be released.thanks :-)Mark
May 28, 200422 yr If there's ever something like an 'SDK', an API would be preferred (DLL to link to).Otherwise I may need to start developing an 'OpenIPC' :-), it's just a bit of 'fishing' until the right things are found.Cheers,Siggy Siggy Schwarz
May 28, 200422 yr Hi to all...As a cockpit builder I would like to have also the SDK for the 737NG. But PMDG (as a bird told me) is not going to realease any SDK for public use. So I don't want to spent $1700 for this (custom interface from PMDG), because I'm not a commercial ventor to gain money from, I'm not a programmer to make a program inderface based on the SDK and I use my MCP/EFIS just for fun (serious one).So Project Magenta remains for me the only solution for Cockpit Builders.Themis KatakalosAthens, Greece Themis Katakalos Athens - LGAV
May 28, 200422 yr I think it's plain unfair that us cockpit builders are being left entirely without any tools to utilize these great a/c system simulators. It's not foolish to say that the number of cockpit builders (be it a big one or a small one) is increasing hugely all the time, and I find it pretty awkward that the situation now is what it is (wrt SDKs and APIs).Sure, there are the explanations about money, time and benefit, but does customer come in there somewhere ?Terops. home cockpit builders: there is light at the end of the tunnel ;) PPL(A)
May 28, 200422 yr It's Software Development Kit, and in this case it means a published list of offsets (but not exclusively) that can be read/written to enable the usage of real displays that are driven by the NG, and real HW components of the cockpit (sky is the limit here).Tero PPL(A)
May 28, 200422 yr You have to be fair to the folks at PMDG. Should they throw a lot of time and effort into an SDK for a very small group of users and neglect other projects? I suspect there are a lot more folks who will buy the 747 than cockpit builders. What about THOSE customers. Bob K.
May 28, 200422 yr Well Bob, your reply reveals what I mean. No one needs to think about us at all, there are ALWAYS more important customers in the line.Tero PPL(A)
May 28, 200422 yr Hi Bob,The SDK is there (in PMDG's Hard Disks) and its ready. Aerosoft MCP works with PMDG. The release has nothing to do with the developement of it, but I can't tell you more... PMDG has the final answer. Themis KatakalosAthens,GreeceBTW. Cockpit builder does not mean Level D Sim Builder, but a man who wants to put the aircraft out of the white box. Just a small help from the developers is need it..! Themis Katakalos Athens - LGAV
May 28, 200422 yr Then why are they keeping it such a secret? and simply avoiding these questions. Maybe we should be asking Pete Dawson ?Regards,
May 29, 200422 yr My guess is because there is no SDK.If there was, why would they withold it, and give no information on it ?Tero PPL(A)
May 29, 200422 yr I too am patiently waiting. I enjoy flying the NG, but, if I can't use it as a base for my upcoming cockpit build, I may be forced to abandon it and shell out the big bucks for Project Magenta. This is not a course of action that I wish to do, however, if I want to have the level of functionality that I desire, then I shall.:(
July 30, 200421 yr Hello, with the last patch from pmdg its also possible to give the menu keys from the fmc a shortcut. But, how can i enter the KBD mode via a shortcut, than my FMC will be perfect.Does anyone has an idea??please help!greetings Mark
July 30, 200421 yr Without interfacing ability the Pmgd B737 just worthlest for us , cockpit builders and degrading this sofware to another computer gameWhy dont you , guys, consider a release for some software interfacing module even payware?Would it not be good for you if we could use your creation as a core for real B737 simulator?Hope you will give a second though about that
