September 9, 200421 yr I have the 737NG 800/900 and find the spoilers don't deploy even after doing all of the fixes. I arm and land normally and nothing. Is anyone else still having this problem?
September 9, 200421 yr You mean SPOILERS again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again again;-) What was found was folks who had their throttles at idle and calibrated correctly were eithera: Draging the speed brake lever a bit to much and even though the arm light was green they did not deploy.b: These same folks were simply "clicking" on the lever and again it displayed the arm light but still did not deploy. Tricky as it can be you can drag carefully into the correct position. Play with it a few times and you will soon notice the perfect spot ;-) Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. September 9, 200421 yr Here is what I found, and my deploy everytime.Arm them so the light turns green either by clicking near the base of the arm or on the green portion. Then when you are making an approach, disconnect the autothrottle at about 300-400 feet AGL , with the throttle at about mid-position. Then as you are about to touch down say at 50-100 feet, pull throttle all the way to minimum. I bet they deploy then.
September 9, 200421 yr Commercial Member Gents-I promise you that this process will be dramatically improved on the 744..... As the guy who "wrote the code" on the spoiler handle- it's as fustrating for me as it is for you....The above two suggestions are good ones.... Robert S. September 9, 200421 yr Bet they don't - and then they mess up the TO/GA Autothrottle - landing into YSSY this afternoon the autothrottle engaged even though I had only ARMED the spoilers, and then I couldn't get it to disengage. Might be something different - will make another posting if it happens again.
September 9, 200421 yr hehe for the gajillionth time..... :)For spoilers to deploy everytime:1) Make sure spoiler armed green light is on.2) Make sure engines are idle before touchdown. To get the engines to be idle, I disengage the autothrottle and pull back the levers at about 40-50 ft before touchdown. Works everytime. However, landing with the autothrottle on is going to give you spoiler deployment issues!Armen L Cholakianwww.veryquiet.com Armen L CholakianPMDG Sound Engineer

September 9, 200421 yr I have landed sucessfully many times with autothrottle engaged and the spoilers deploy. For me, the key is to ensure the throttle is in the idle position. If it isn't, autothrottle or no autothrottle, spoilers don't deploy. George Morris
September 9, 200421 yr And once again:- arm with the mouse by CLICK/DRAG THE TOP OF THE SPOILER HANDLE (do not click/drag near the base of the handle, makes a HUGE difference! (why, I'm not sure)). Do not arm using the keyboard (although once it's armed with the mouse, you can use the keyboard to deploy/stow). This can be reproduced at will.- arm during the approach (above 1500AGL)- command manual throttle at idle (F1), check calibration via FSUIPC - should report 0 and do use a deadband on your throttle axis just in case. If your joystick wobbles, it will throw it off track.Again, the thing that did it for me was the click on the top of the handle. If I click on the bottom, it won't work at all, even if the handle moves exactly the same way. So far, it's the only difference, and it works for all variants (600 through 900).
September 9, 200421 yr UHG! :-outtaOk folks is this one beat to death enough now?????????????????????????Robert even threw in a comment on this one! Please??? Pretty Please no more spoiler posts???????? :-hah George Morris
September 9, 200421 yr Here's the link to the discovery about the clickspots on and near the handle being the issue for most of us:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=searchIt's about midway through the thread.Good luck,John - John Drago
September 9, 200421 yr *bump* (this is not discussed nearly enough :-smooch )Robert, perhaps it would be a good idea to make a sticky of the spoiler solution?
September 10, 200421 yr Friends - ok here's one for us...Just before I did my last post I had a situation which seemed to me to be a runaway authrottle, and the only "reason" (NOTE inverted commas) was that I had the spoilers armed, decided to do a go around, punched the TO/GA, wheels did NOT touch, was below 50ft AGL (RADIO HGT), then could NOT disengage the AT. After eventually recovering at FL110 (yes, I know, flame me if required - hey I only had this dreamliner for two weeks!), the only way I could disengage the AT was a total shutdown of all A/P related functions AND, get this, do a RTE change in the FMC via the CDU.I will try and recreate it, if anyone is interested, but I will also add one thing...My MS Sidewinder Pro Joystick (USB)...then had mucked around elevator trim buttons, so it might be one of those demon things...With love and respect - the Chard-meister
