Demo Version !

Featured Replies

Hi EveryBody !Is there a demo version of 737NG ,so that I could try how thing it is or is it going to worth for it to buy, before I buy ?I searched the WEB site but found nothing !Best Regards ,

Nope there isn't a demo to my knowledge. Not a bad idea having one though. Is that your real name?

I wish there was a demo, it would have helped me decide. (with hindsight I would not have bought it)I bought the PMDG 737 two days ago thinking/hoping it would have dual modes (easy & realistic). Im *nowhere* near as hardcore a simmer as many people on this forum and I really wish the PMDG machine had a simple get-up-and-go mode (like the default FS9 planes).Admittedly I did also buy it because of the superb exterior modelling, great cockpit & wing views and gobs of liveries - but the mega-realistic flight operations are not for me.I am gonna sell mine to the gamestore tomorrow, lets see how much I get for it.I advise you to think carefully before you buy this product, if you are after extreme realism (in-depth flight-planning, weight& balance, fuel burn, SIDs STARs, autopilot functions, performance charts, FMC programming etc.) then this is for you. Heck, if you master this you are probably 20% of the way to a real-life 737 rating! In this respect this piece of software is amazing in its depth. However, if (like me) you want to spend 2 minutes selecting a departure, a destination, and then roaring of the runway with the jet following the pretty green GPS line then stay away.

Nevin, I think what you wrote is all bull****, pardon me on my expression.2 minutes and roaring away? Heck, I manage it under 1 minute (just the basic and most important stuff, incl. FMC). I bet you I can get all set up in PMDG much faster than you in the GPS...? And it graphically also looks better (panels + ext. model). If not for the realism, then just for the PURE candy! And my PMDG usually follows a pretty line, though not green, but magenta :-).And heck, I don't even have to give it a flightplan, just direct straight airport-airport flight. No problemo...You can fly it simple AND you can fly it realistically. But, demo is all in all not a bad idea. Maybe somehow that the FMC works only in some specific area, or something. Although that doesn't stop anyone from stealing the model. But, from another point of view, I'm talking like there're no cr****d versions out there...

<<< Nevin, I think what you wrote is all bull****, pardon me on my expression. >>>>Lol..ok.Well, ure reply has certainly made me sit up and take notice! If its not a hassle...you think u could post instructions for setting up a *simple* point-point flight - your 60 second routine? :) Although it will prob take me 10 mins until I get it right!

Pretty easy to get going in under a minute.Start at the runway of your departure airport, open the FMC hit the RTE button type your departure airport into and hit the line select key top on the left then same with the arrival airport only this time on the top right."Activate" should show up click the line select key next to it and hit "EXEC" you'll have a magenta line going point to point. Full throttle and away your go.Once you're up hit LNAV, climb using the vertical speed as you would on the default aircraft. But to be honest there is no fun in that, you wanna do it properly trust me.All the best,

Yep. Here it is, as simple as possible - took me exactly (with engine startup included) - 70 seconds - I know it's not 60, but i bet I could do it in 60 also :-)Open OH - Batt, Standby PWR, GND PWR, APU start, fuel pumps, probe on, hyd pumps, apu bleed on, engine bleeds off, strobes, engine start both to GND (even before APU started up).Open FMC - POS INIT, ref airport: LOWS, route, click onto origin, lows being copied, dest: LOWW, init ref: click GW, reserves 5, cost index: 50, crz alt: 200, exec, N1 limit, takeoff, flaps 5, click speeds. On the MCP: auto throttle + FD and if you really need AP, speed to V2 and set ALT, it's 10,000ft by default.DONE!Now, notice I didn't even select SID/STAR. That's not something I'd need if I just want to quickly take-off. But for that how much longer? 10 seconds...Ah yes, don't forget to activate keyboard for the FMC, so you can type faster into it.ENJOY!

ah come on... :-)use the PMDG default setup with the engines running and skip all that other stuff.dont even touch the FMC, CDU, MCP ...you will be on the runway, engines running, firewall the throttle and rotate at around 130 knots - away you goyou can do this faster then being in the cessnayou can even get the default MS GPS in the panel with a few mouse click (see furthur down this forum)

Oh sure. I can fired it up in 1 min too--but it's the preflight that takes an hour :-p

Who gets the bird up and flying first.:-lol CheersThomas

Well you are right of course. It's an extreme realistic simulation. But it's also true that you can forsake the FMC and just go Autopilot sort of like the default aircraft. Of course this A/P behaves just like the real one so a little learning is needed. Hand flyting is still a fun thing to do too. But I will agree, learning something from stratch can be a little frustrating as I remember PIC 767 I had the exact feelings you do..Best Wishes,[h4]Randy J. Right, I forgot about that one, you can start with your engines running. Then setting up the basic FMC would take like 20 seconds, or if you want to skip that, you load, set flaps 5, disengage parking brake and throttle up!! Rotate as said at about 130-140 kts. And then you also handfly it or just with the basic AP settings (spd, alt, hdg).Only thing you can't do I think is make AP fly routes from FSNav or so. It doesn't have GPS NAV like FS9 default airplanes do. On the other hand, why even use that? It sux ballz...

Its worth buying by all means!Great product! And although I only have a mid range system (have a look at my specs below) I get resonable performance.E. g. last yesterday, taxiing at the default EHAM with UT set to 75 % and all other sliders set to max (exept mesh set to 84) I got 20 - 25 fps in 2D mode (main panel) and 15 - 20 in VC.PMDG gives you many options to customize your panels/gauges for good performance.Wolfgangmy specs:P4 2.4 Ghz512 MB DDRATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128 MBWindows XP Pro

I think you are absolutely right, load of rubbish!Second hand, should be worth hardly anything, don't you agree?Where were you going to sell it again.......... ?

>However, if (like me) you want to spend 2 minutes selecting a>departure, a destination, and then roaring of the runway with>the jet following the pretty green GPS line then stay away. You really did not get very deep into the matter. When activated the GPS line turns into magenta. :-lolBTW, you can fly the PMDG NGs the simple way. It is no problem to completely handfly these birds or to only use the basic AP functions (like ALT, HDG, VS) and A/T.Wolfgang
