PMDG Windows Vista FAQ

ryan Why can't PMDG just do a gauges upgrade for there sims.It is only the way the main gauge loads into fsx that is stopping it.I can get the aircraft to work with reduced functions but the graphical side is ok.1 air conf. ok 2.panel without main_ ok.so only a guages patch is really needed.A link to sim connect and the new fsuicp.Any thoughts.PMDG IN FSX.STU

Stu,It is not that simple. Please trust us. Our "main gauge" is basically program unto itself, it has to interact with the simulator and this is not as simple as just "linking to simconnect". "Only a gauges patch" makes it sound like it's some easy process and we've just been sitting here not issuing FSX patches for nearly a year - do you seriously think we'd do that?

Hello I can also not manage to install PMDG on VISTA. First of all I had the message that can be solved with this description: http://ops.precisionmanuals.com/wiki/PMDG_Windows_Vista_FAQ. But now I either get a message that the program has crashed or the setup simply stops without any message after a few seconds. I've uploaded some movies that show how I tried to install it.http://www.swissfir.org/Raffael/PMDG.zipOS: Vista UltimateFS: 2004 GermanVirus Scanner: avast! (I also tried with switching it off)Other: There was no problem installing PMDG 737NG on this machineKind regardsRaffael Walther

Raffael,Unfortunately it looks like Aerosoft has some issues that we can't solve through built in Vista methods... I'd contact them, as they're the creator of the CD version's installer. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi, I got the Aerosoft CD finally working with vista. You have to check the "run as admin" box in the properties of the exe file. Don't select it directly with the context menu that wont work. Browse to your CD drive in Computer or Windows Explorer. Find the CD's setup exe file. Right click on it and chose the "Properties" option. Select the "Compatibility" tab. Place a check in the "run as admin" option Jan-Paul

HelloGreat, now it works.IMPORTANT: The open "Run as admin" is only available if the "User Control" is activated for the current user! Otherwise the option is greyed out.Kind regardsRaffael Walther

Well I've finally come around to install my PMDG products on my new vista system. I'm running Vista home premium 64bit. I've the downloaded version of the 737 600-900, and the queen of the skies. the Queen installed with no problems. But the 737 does not want to install. I click the install button, and then the first thing that shows on the install details is" skipping file: C:WindowsfontsLucon.ttf" And it stays frozen there until i have to manually close the program using the task manager(says it's not responding). I have the program being saved to the D drive, which is where i have fs9.1 installed. Any suggestions? i've tried running the install as the administrator and not the administrator. I've also tried compatibility mode with XPsp2 and Windows 2000.

You are supposed to install the 737 first and then the 747.

Hi everyoneI've installed FS9 in Vista RTM since early this year and also managed to get PMDG 747-400 working well. However, I couldn't get PMDG 747-400F installer to work at all. I've tried every possible option including: open the compatibilities box and check "run as administrator" and/or "Windows XP/SP2 mode" as per advised by other members of this forum.I would be grateful for any further thought on this.RegardsPeter Nguyen

When I try to edit something in the aircraft.cfg file of the PMDG 744, it seems as if it is impossible to save the fale after I have edited it.. It says that it "cannot create c:ProgramfilesMicrosoft Games........Make sure the path and the filename are correct"I'm using Windows VistaHere's a pick of the error message http://surl.se/bypkHope to recieve some help FAST

Try right clicking the file and making sure it isn't set to read-only... I'm not aware of any Vista-specific issues that would cause that issue.

I've just ordered a new PC with this spec. How do you think it will hold up running FSX? It was the best I could afford...I'm not up on this computer lark! - Hard Drive 640GB Serial ATA Raid 0 "Stripe" (2x320- List D09XP5a - XPS 710- English Windows Vista Ultimate- Dimension XPS 710 Core 2 Quad-Core Processor QX6600 (2.40GHz, 1066MHz, 8MB cache)- Internal Media Card Reader 13-in-1- SINGLE 768MB nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX- FP/BL 1908FP - UK/Irish - Ultrasharp 19'' Flat Pan- English Microsoft Works 8.0 (Word Processor, Sprea- 16x DVD+/-RW & 16x DVD Drives- Memory - Upgrade to 2048MB 667MHZ (From 1024MB 667- Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme - VISTA ONLY- ROXIO Software for Vista - Creator / MYDVD 9.0- Dimension Resource DVD for Vista (Diagnostics & Dr- Memory Dual-Channel 4096MB [4x1024] 667MHz DDR2- Free Upgrade- Hard Drive - 320GB to 640GB RAID I've just copied bits from the order sheet, sorry if there is useless info listed. I usually run high end add-ons like those from PMDG, and lots of AI traffic. I'm not so much fussed about scenery.

As you can see from my post (2 posts back), I recently ordered a new PC. Well it's arrived and I aint that impressed! I installed my AI traffic, went to heathrow and was getting 5-8 FPS when in the R22! In my last post, you can see the spec of my new PC. Can anyone help me identify the problem please? Is it that I'm running on Vista, and/or I'm using a DX10 graphics card etc? All FSX settings are at Default. If it's a known issue, are solutions being worked on? With the same AI traffic on my old PC (FS9 and XP), I was getting roughly 25 FPS, even when using something like the PMDG or Level-D ad-ons!
