October 21, 200718 yr Hi Steve,First of all you've got a very nice computer and you WILL enjoy FSX with it.Vista is not at all an issue with FSX so you should not worry.I suggest that you post your request on Avsim's hardware forum and I assume you'll get some good help very quickly.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=197Best regards,David Roch - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.
October 22, 200718 yr Commercial Member David-I am within a few days of publishing our experience operating FSX on a broad range of machines and operating systems. I think it's important to put PMDG on the record as stating that we don't necessarily agree that "there are no problems with FSX and Vista."We'll put more information into the community shortly... Robert S. Randazzo PLEASE NOTE THAT PMDG HAS DEPARTED AVSIM You can find us at: http://forum.pmdg.com
October 22, 200718 yr That is very interesting Robert.I'm looking forward to reading your observations. Thanks God Rockwell Collins and Honeywell are not Windows based!! :--)Have a nice week.Capt.David Roch - PC Hardware: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D // Asus ROG Crosshair X870E HERO // 2x32Gb Corsair Dominator Titanium DDR5 6000MT/s CL30 // ASUS ROG Strix GeForce RTX 4090 OC Edition // 4Tb Corsair NVMe M.2 MP600 // Corsair 1600W PSU Samsung Odyssey Arc 55" curved 165 Hz monitor. - Simulator Hardware: VIRPIL Constellation Alpha Prime + VIRPIL VPC Universal Control Panel - #3 + MOZA AY210 Force Feedback Yoke + WINWING URSA MINOR 32 Throttle & PAC Metal + WINWING SKYWALKER Metal Rudder Pedals + WINWING Airbus FCU & EFIS + WINWING Boeing 3N PAP + WINWING MCDU-32 + WINWING PFP-4 + WINWING PFP 3-N + WINWING PFP-7.

October 23, 200718 yr Hello all, I super new to this forum thing but have been a simmer since '98. I haven't really got into the whole super sim such as Level-D and PMDG aircraft. I am really wanting to understand these systems (FMC,CDU,EFIS) but after reading these forums I guess I need to state my question. My question is after all the talk about software what is the best performance machine (hardware) to handle all these add-ons with good frame rate while ONLINE with VATSIM? I show good FPS "I think" ( 10-11 on taxi way) now while playing "but" is it the best i can get? I have read from some on this forum that there getting 30 -40 FPS holy cow that must be nice, but how?!!At this time I'm running 4- 19" Pro View monitors with the use of TH2G. Also have the Goflight modules GF-166 / GF-LGT / GF-MCP (not pro) / GF-EFIS. This brings up my second question Does the PMDG come with key strokes for the EFIS so I can program using FSUIPC4? At this time I run the Wilco 777 and there telling me that my GF-EFIS unit will not work due to the EFIS being mouse clicks only. Is this a true fact?.Any advice would be great. I hear that PMDG is the best. I am awaiting your 737NG for FSX before purchase any products so I can delete the Wilco and get on with the real deal!!.Thanks for all you help. and I hope I'm making since!!
October 23, 200718 yr Commercial Member Kris> My question is after all the talk about software what is the>best performance machine (hardware) to handle all these>add-ons with good frame rate while ONLINE with VATSIM? The best system (within reason) that you could get right now would be something like: Intel P35 based motherboard (Asus P5K, Abit I35 etc) Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 CPU, 2GB of DDR21066, and a GeForce 8800GTX video card.>I show good FPS "I think" ( 10-11 on taxi way) now while>playing "but" is it the best i can get? I have read from some>on this forum that there getting 30 -40 FPS holy cow that must>be nice, but how?!!Are you talking about FSX or FS9 here? That machine I mentioned will easily get in excess of 50FPS in FS9. FSX you'll probably see 20-30 depending on the situation, maybe lower in dense ground situations.>At this time I'm running 4- 19" Pro View monitors with the use>of TH2G. Also have the Goflight modules GF-166 / GF-LGT />GF-MCP (not pro) / GF-EFIS.That's a problem right there because of the amount of raw pixels you're asking your video card to render. It's something really absurd like 5120X1280 right? That's over 6.5 million pixels per frame - double or quadruple that if you're running AA too. Probably no video card in existence that can actually render that much 3D data at playable framerates.>This brings up my second question Does the PMDG come with key>strokes for the EFIS so I can program using FSUIPC4? At this>time I run the Wilco 777 and there telling me that my GF-EFIS>unit will not work due to the EFIS being mouse clicks only. Is>this a true fact?.You can operate the 747's EFIS using keyboard commands. The only GF module that it works with however is the MCP Pro. If your unit can take keyboard commands you may be able to do it that way or via FSUPIC, but I can't say for sure. October 23, 200718 yr WOW thats a speedy response!! Ryan, Thanks for the input. I am running FSX on my system. Im thinking to get the best out of my system stated in my signature below would be to go back to XP and FS9. I have a copy or FSUIPC4 (registered) so is this how i could get my EFIS working with PDGM's 737NG for FS9??Is it also smart to drop the TH2G and convert to a overhead projector? I have been looking into getting this to support my "habit"...hahahttp://secure.simmarket.com/product_info.p...roducts_id=1038Thanks again,Kris
October 23, 200718 yr Commercial Member Kris,I'm really not the best person to advise you on home cockpit type stuff - pretty much all of us on the PMDG team use normal PC setups (LK has some hardware like the GF MCP Pro and Engravity CDU) but none of us are doing big time HC stuff like that.If you want to go ahead and post a separate thread on it I'm sure someone will be able to answer better.I didn't notice your system specs in your sig before - that's actually a really good system, definitely wouldn't go getting anything else right now, the difference would be very marginal. The TH2G is probably the reason you're seeing such low frames - that card should be screaming. This is Vista with FSX you're using? Is it in Windowed mode? There's a known issue where FS gets extremely slow in windowed in Vista.XP would be my recommended setup for both FSX and FSX yes, unless you absolutely must have the DX10 features from Acceleration/SP2. October 24, 200718 yr Ryan, I understand about the HC and will post a separate forum. I appreciate the quick responses.. Makes me feel better about your product. Please could you tell me where i could find the manual on the 737NG so i can see if i am able to set up all my modules such as keystrokes for FSUIPC. I tried DL'ing from your site but winzip is unable to open for some reason saying its a bad file name. I was running my FSX on Vista in the windowed mode. tried the fullscreen and still the same. Im going to try to remove the TH2G and see what difference that makes. i will post here to let you know. Does PMDG sell the 737NG for FS9 in a CD set or is it strictly Download?Any information helping me set up your 737NG for my HC using a registered copy of FSUIPC would be great and most helpful. Thanks again for your time,
