Proposed PIC767 flight this weekend

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,I would like to propose that we have an early morning flight this weekend in Australia! The Australian/New Zealand controllers are having a 'cross the ditch' flyin in the wee hours (at least for me) on Sunday (0400z to 1300z).The SATPAC page is excellent and I believe some preferred routes are already listed there. http://www.satpac.org is the link.I hope to see you there.Regards,Dan Pergau

Saturday night at 11pm (0400z Sunday) is not the wee hours for us hardcore flyers....I plan to fly from 11pm-5am EDT (0400-1000z).I will try and make a daytime trip down there with you, but I will be flying YSSY-Auckland/Wellington at the 11pm time as well.Hopefully they will keep the Kangaroos off the runway this weekend.Rob.

I've done my share of all-nighters too you know.. back in my youth ;-)I will be doing some REAL flying on Wednesday, movie on Thursday so I may magically appear at Honolulu on Friday after work and start my flight then.I hope to see you before then Rob! When I get home I will be making my way back from YHZ to YYZ and hopefully get the YYZ-PHNL at least started!Regards,Dan

I should be home by 6pm, I will catch you in the air on my CYUL-CYYZ hop - hoping Mr. Paquin might appear to assist me out of the Montreal area.Tally ho!

Dan,Good that you posted this. This should be a good flyin and we PICers are all way overdue to fly that area. I will be in on it for sure and will add my intended FPs to this thread later in the week.

Can you guys post some routing for this? I've yet to fly outside the USA in FS or or on VATSIM so I really have no clue how it all works in other countries. (trans alts, SOP's etc)

Ryan,I will post the flight plans and point you to any charts I use. Glad to have you along. No problems anticipated with ATC (if you are not sure about something - just ask them) as they seem to be a good bunch down there and will be happy to have the traffic. Oceanic procedures may be the biggest thing to get familiar with. Follow the "training" link on the http://www.satpac.org/ page for some background information on those procedures with transcripts of sample radio calls.

When I get the upper winds for that day I'll be sure to post a route or two as well. I'm looking at getting to Honolulu on the Saturday and then hopping to Sydney early early on Sunday morning.Hope to see you then.Dan

Hi Dan,I assume you are talking early Sunday morning zulu time - the event starts (our time) Sunday morning at 1am (0500z)...it's probably me that's mostly confused ;-)Mike B is gonna post the route and a NOTAM for PIC pilots here, see if we can round up the troops.Bye for now.Rob.PS - Terry and Kip have been flying all over southern Ontario the yesterday and today....Terry's been clearing out the Beer Stores at every small town from here to North Bay.Tally HO!

Yep you're confused =) Check the EARLY EARLY on Sunday ;-)Terry and Australia will never be the same again... oh boy.

Hope to join this one Dan, but considering I had intended jining he previou flights and not made it for one reason or another don't hold your breath :-)I intend to fly the Sydney - Wellington route so would appreciate any of you guys posting what time you expect to depart Sydney.5am UK time is not too bad....on a Sunday!!!!!!!:-eek If I do make it callsign will be BCA33.

I will be flying YSSY-NZAA (3 hour flight) and will be pushing back at 0415Z (11:15 PM on Saturday night USA Central Time.)The preferred route from the satpac website is:From-To..........Route..........................WaypointsYSSY-NZAA....DCT SY L521 AA DCT...... SY WALTZ MEPAV LUNBI AA You MUST visit http://satpac.org and check out the zip file available in the pilot information section in the Cross The Ditch link. That file contains:1. General information for the flyin2. Refresher information regarding Oceanic procedures including SELCAL3. Zip files with required chartsSome pilots, including me, will be flying to Sydney from either Canada or the USA. Those flights will route through either KLAX or PHNL (13 hours) and will depart in time to arrive at Sydney shortly before the Cross The Ditch Flyin begins. If you want some idea of fuel, length, and other information for such a long flight with PIC, see my post regarding my KSFO-YSSY flight from a couple months ago http://ftp.avsim.com/dcforum/DCForumID33/937.html . I will start my flight from KLAX about 1400Z on saturday morning but will most likely be offline for about 5 hours of the middle portion of the flight (long nap.) We will be using a real world flight plan that will be pulled earlier that morning and will try to get it posted here an hour before departure.Plan your rest accordingly. Should be some red eyes on Sunday...

Hi Mike,Great post!I am not sure I can do the 13hr flight to Sydney on Sat, may opt for some domestic hops in Australia in the afternoon and early evening tomorrow to get me to Sydney for 0430z. The fly in does not start until 0500z, I noticed you are planning to leave Sydney at 0415z, 45 mins before the start? Anywho, I checked your links and got all the charts and info so my reports sound good ;-) ...as you said, it is basically a read back of the FMC-POS Report page...See you then.Rob.
