Proposed PIC767 flight this weekend

Featured Replies

Hey Ian,Yeah, I was up with you guys until my isp decided to take a vacation! :(I departed and got to cruising altitude just fine..was handed off to oceanic and was getting ready to make my 1st position report when I saw the plane in front of me disappear (never a good sign). Then I called oceanic for a radio check and sure enough, nothing. Looked at the lights on my modem, no activity. I tried to reconnect, but never could.I finished the flight off line, but it sure was lonely out their in the Pacific all by myself! :(It was a blast while it lasted, and it was great to see all those 767s on the tarmac! (well, not just 767s)I look forward to cruisin' with you guys again soon.Regards,Steve DraBTWDid anyone catch the excellent show on Discovery (or TLC) about Air Freighters? It showed lotsa' cockpit views in flight of 747s and MD11s.

Regards,
Steve Dra

Hi IanYea it was me that brought up the WALTZ thing. It was one of the weighpoints in the preffered routes from the SATPAC website.SY-L521-AA. I had updated my Airac cycle from 0206 to 0207, from Richard Stefan's NavData site. I plugged the flightplan into the FMC and sure enough it came up with the same weighpoints as the preferred route from SATPAC. I was asking Rob and Mike about their weighpoints while we were enroute to Auckland. Anyway the 0207 is a good Airac. I also put it in my FSBuild so my flight plans update.Yea it sure was a hoot wasn't it, Except for Center leaving me hanging out there at 11000 feet and not handing me off to approach, then telling me to descend to 3000 ft and to contact approach when I was 12miles from the runway. other than that it was a ball. hope to do it again soonGaryAAL214

Ian/Gary/mike, et al - r.e. the NavData from Richard Steffan - I have since replaced ONLY my WProute.txt (airway route data file) with Richard's latest....I had problems before with Richard's airport.dat and Nav Aid.txt data being muddled up, I have not checked those as yet so I can not speak to them. My L521 airway now has WALTZ, etc, in the routing as well as a few other airways I had problems with over the US have been fixed. I have not checked any of the European airways yet, but I am sure they are fine as Richard is from that side of the pond.

856 and 214,Thanks for the responses.I realized that I had in fact been using the 0201 for all of my nav databases.Downloaded Richard's latest and did a complete install of 0207. Will let you know if I have any problems with it.. maybe this one even has RAGLAN in it - which is funny - we discussed that issue, what arrival would we get etc. for quite sometime and in the end just got vectored around .To be honest I didn't have a great ending to the flight, my first approach was less than memorable and after going around the vectors back to the loc included 2 360's due to someone being confused between their left and right. I can't say that I have never made the same mistake, and these people were under a lot os strain with the heavy traffic. For a bit I considered reporting the field in sight and just cancelling IFR .All in all the fly in was an absolute hoot. Hats off and "good on ya's" to the whole crew down under for really putting on a show.-----------------------In case you have not heard - on VATSIM I have made a move out of Los Angeles and into the Bay area. We have some big plans for the area, and I really hope to see you all heading that way in the future.Make sure you have those Bay Area published visuals on hand - because if the weather is good and I see someone fly in with "PIC" in their comments you are going to get them for sure. Yes, it was a definite rare event for me to be plugged in, Rob, even if you are referring to my father. Hopefully that means, I'll get even more chances to plug in! cz

Excellent!I will review the holding procedures for Boston ;-)
