September 4, 200223 yr Pedro,Are GELO and ROSARIO waypoints? If so, do you know their exact coordinates? Thanks.
September 4, 200223 yr Hi Pedro,Thank you for your information. Based on this and on a posting by Vulcan (thanks) about the coordinates of GELO and ROSARIO I have programmed a VDME05 approach to be used by the PIC FMC. I have tested this tonight and you can fly the PIC767 all the way on LNAV and VNAV to ROSARIO... However, like you said, real pilots disconnect the autopilot at FUN213/8.0 and "grab the stick with both hands to put the plane on the ground" ;-)You can find the approach at my homepage in the downloads section. Just unzip the LPMA-VDME05.wap file in theFS2002/FMCWP/navdata/approaches directory. It'll then appear in your FMC next to the two standard approaches Looking forward to hear you Sunday,KiekEHAMMPH641homepage: http://home.planet.nl/~nwkaan/

September 4, 200223 yr Pedro,Many thanks for that very useful post.I don't know if that qualifies you as a sadist or masochist, sitting there enduring all those G/A's & M/A's, as well as scraping the twisted metal off the mountains :( But your post was very helpful and your dedication most welcome, I hope to give you some traffic before the main event, even if only touch & go's.
September 4, 200223 yr Niko,Love your homepage - the section on your cockpit setup is great.Ian Elchitz CYWG
September 4, 200223 yr Stiffy,Rosario - Location of Anemometer? Just a guess, but the wind limitations refer to the ROSARIO anemometer.GELO - looks like the start of the lead in approach lighting.I think we need to get a look at a set of Jepp or Thales Charts for LPMA.I have also posted in the PSS forum for Captain Seagull, an A320 pilot with a UK charter airline to maybe pay us a visit and provide some details of operations to LPMA.Mark PIC user who cannot take part in event due to real world EGPF-KSFB 767 flight :-)
September 4, 200223 yr Mark,You are correct, I just looked at my Jepp charts and it mentions the ROSARIO and MID anemometers. And yes, Gelo is the starting point for the lead-in lights. Thanks for any additional information.
September 5, 200223 yr Hi there Gelo are the begining and Rosario the end of the Curve Light System for help on the last stage of the Approach. This coordinates are not relevant for Instrument navigation, because at this stage of the approach you are already visual with the FIELD, and you aren
September 5, 200223 yr Commercial Member Ummm... well, steel nerves and never blink!First shot just a luttle low and hmmm seem to be slightly to the left.2nd Shot clearly shows that at least I didn't hit the cliff at the threshold.3rd shot clearly shows how close the freaking mountain is to the approach path!
