July 10, 200322 yr Lee,Right, only aircraft equipped with a TCAS EHSI display have RA pitch commands. Pitch commands on the TCAS/IVSI however would also be unrealistic. That is not the main concern of the users however, it is more of a luxury and a display of the unrestricted possiblities of flight simulation ;-)Keep up the good work!Best Regards,
July 10, 200322 yr How do you figure that pitch commands being displayed on the IVSI/TCAS would be unrealistic? This is the way the Rockwell-Collins, Honeywell and several other IVSI/TCAS gauges function in reality and many of the older 767's were fitted with these gauges not to mention almost every commercial airliner today that doesn't have either the EHSI version or that have the older analogue adi and hsi's have an IVSI/TCAS system installed. Just go to airliners.net and check it out for yourself. You can check out everything from 737-200's right on up to the 767-300's. I've attached a pic of an IVSI/TCAS gauge that is from an MD-80 flightdeck and is in test mode. You can see the RA pitch command lit up along the vsi scale.Regards,Van LatendresseYeoDesigns/AFG GroupPanel/FDE Designer
July 10, 200322 yr "That is not the main concern of the users however, it is more of a luxury and a display of the unrestricted possiblities of flight simulation ;-)"Judging by the zillions of responses of FS fans to the (perceived) technical/artistic inaccuracies of the PMDG 737TNG product, I'm not so sure, Ryan. Fidelity seems to be (almost) everything. The basic MSFS product stretches reality far enough already (grin). When people buy products like PIC, they appear to be wanting "as real as it gets" even more so. ;-)Cheers.Ian.
July 10, 200322 yr "You can see the RA pitch command lit up along the vsi scale."Don't confuse pitch with V/S, Van ;-) I missed that point when answering Ryan's message. I meant to say ADI indications in general. Incidentally, some aircraft have both V/S and Pitch Commands on their ADI/PFD.Cheers.Ian.
