August 6, 200322 yr At FL250 (relatively low altitude), your ECON speed was likely in the 290kts IAS range...CI 70-90.I have some bad STARS for LFPG that fried my system so I avoid the place.
August 6, 200322 yr Hmm..I tried to try the CLB DIR today, but didn't have such option in the VNAV CLIMB page.. even though I manually added a 4000 feet restriction in the SID...??Tero PPL(A)
August 6, 200322 yr ??I tried a SID with a 6000ft constraint this evening, entered LNAV and VNAV at 1000 ft, hit the CLB DIR at 2000 ft, got a econ clb mode announcement on my CDU, but my plane still leveled off at 6000ft...??Nico
August 6, 200322 yr Nico, you need to select a higher altitude on the MCP than the restriction then hit CLB DIR.
August 7, 200322 yr Hi,Is the CLB DIR supposed to be in the VNAV CLB page all the time ? I don't have it there... is my FMC broken ??Tero PPL(A)
August 7, 200322 yr Mark.I did, the MCP was set on FL140 already before take off. Or might that have been too early?Nico
August 7, 200322 yr Tried it last night out of EGLL and EGCC...worked like a charm.CLB DIR option will ONLY appear if you have an ALT restriction before your CRZ ALT.I tried to confuse it by letting it level off at the restriction, then hitting CLB DIR...you may have to re-engage VNAV if it levels off completely, maybe that is hte problem others are having?Yes, I learned something new...again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Rob.
August 7, 200322 yr "Oh, and for those of you wondering what CLB DIR is, it allows VNAV to climb to the selected MCP Altitude while bypassing any Legs Page Altitude Restraints."Just wondering why newer 767/757's with the MCP Altitude Intervention option delete the restraints (below MCP altitude), individually, rather than en-mass like the Climb Direct button? Also, can later aircraft have both types?Thanks.Cheers.Ian.
August 8, 200322 yr I just finished the Beer and Blondes leg and arrived into EDDF. I tested the DES NOW feature and bi-passed an ALT Restriction with ease!! Woot!!!Now to test the rest of the Blondes and Beer. Leg 2 tommorow.Brappp!Excuse me.
August 12, 200322 yr maybe an airbus engineer put some french into the boeing :(http://img.villagephotos.com/p/2003-8/328522/siggyav1.JPG
August 12, 200322 yr Seems the DES DIR delete the restrictions individually in the PIC767 at each press of the DES DIR where as CLB DIR blows all restrictions away. Airline option??Rob.
August 12, 200322 yr "DES DIR delete the restrictions individually in the PIC767 at each press of the DES DIR where as CLB DIR blows all restrictions away"Oooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhh, that one I did not know about. KEWL!
August 12, 200322 yr Every week, something new...I tell ya :-)I thought DES DIR and DES NOW were the same...they are not! ...so I learned something new as well.Rob.
