February 10, 200521 yr After re-watching the LDS767 promo video, I noticed that the VC gauges were updating very slowly (somwhere between 1 and 2 Hz). Am I mistaken in this? Will this be corrected? I recall reading that more than 2 or 3 VC sections result in low gauge refresh rates.
February 10, 200521 yr This was discussed to death when the video's were released. It is due to short comings with the FRAPS Video recording software that makes the VC Guage refresh rate appear worse than it actually is.
February 10, 200521 yr Maybe off topic, but I'm wondering if anyone (developers?) can shed some light on why some VC seem to be able to get excellent refresh rates (RealAir Spitfire comes to mind) while others have horrible lag. I'm sure the complexity of the VC would have quite an impact but even some very basic VC's seem to suffer from awful refresh rates
February 11, 200521 yr The more gauges you have the slower the refresh rate will be... so as Bob stated simple panel like the Spitfire get great VC performace because there are less gauges. Were as your more complex panels like 767's have ALOT more gauges to render.
February 11, 200521 yr Real air used a different method for their gauges, and it is not one that can currently be used with more complex aircraft such as a 767, or even our forthcoming Beech A36.Otherwise, when referring to traditional gauges, it is not just a matter of the number of gauges, but the number of VC cockpit sections used. You are best not going over 2, but sometimes you have to when you have a lot of gauges and only so large a texture to put them on.Regards,http://www.dreamfleet2000.com/gfx/images/F...R_FORUM_LOU.jpg
February 11, 200521 yr Let's hope the MS team is going to give this some attention for tne next release....John

This is a of critical importance to me. Are they updating once per second, 10, 20 times per second, more, less? Will flight1 accept a return if I find the VC refresh rate unacceptable? Thanks
March 31, 200521 yr Commercial Member 30 day refund at Flight1.I don't think ANYONE can give EXACT answer on how your frames rates will be - every system is different; every users preferences are different. http://www.pic767flyingclub.com/siggies/ds.jpg The SUPPORT FORUM for Level-D Simulations products: http://www.leveldsim.com/forums

I'm asking for an estimation... How about this for a straightforward question that is easily answered? How many VC sections are in the aircraft .cfg file? Thanks
April 5, 200521 yr This is my personal experience... I get excellent FPS in the VC, HOWEVER, the gauge refresh rate is terrible on my system (P4 3.0G, 1G DDR RAM, GEFORCE 6800/256MB). I dont recall the number of sections in the VC but it is more than 4 for sure. I also tried to comment out the whole FO section, it did not change a thing, the captain PFD and ND refresh was terrible (I would estimate it to be 2fps). I have asked the developers if they were planning on giving us a program that let us adjust VC gauge refresh rate (like PMDG or Feelthere did for their birds) but I haven't heard anything back.So... I had to park my LevelD sim in the hangar. :(John
April 28, 200521 yr But the refresh rate in the 2D cockpit is high (>15fps or so) right? I was thinking of picking up the LDS for a quality long-range AC and find myself rarely using the VC outside of GA planes. They are just too complex to be constantly scrolling around with the mouse, etc. The 2D gauges have smooth movement right?Ruahrc
April 28, 200521 yr John,During testing I flew London Gatwick - Orlando Florida entirely in the VC. Flight duration was 8hrs 55mins flown in real time. My FS rig is a similar spec to yours except I have an ATI9800 Pro. - Dean P3Dv4 & XP11 space
April 28, 200521 yr RuahrcDefniitely pick up LDS if you are a 2D user. The gauge refresh rate is VERY fluid, no problem whatsover. Have fun!John
