July 20, 200520 yr hey guys crz is fine but on ground even with say 15 to 20 frames i get stutters when turning left and right while taxing.anyone else? any advice?system is p4 3.0 800fsb, asus p4p800, 1 gig ram, and ati x800 xl 256mb.thanks
July 24, 200520 yr Hi Joe,I'm having similar problems with my setup which is not too dissimilar excepting the graphics. I've tried everything to get rid of the stutters but to no avail. Frames rates are always good but the sim jerks around. After a circuit around complex scenery even runway performance is too jerky to be acceptable. I even tried a straight FS2004 install in case I had overloaded scenery - no difference. Driver upgrade to 5.6 made things worse!!I guess no-one has any advice.....or do they?AndyBSystem: Asus P4P800S-X, P4 3.15Ghz, 1Gb DDR400 RAM, XP Home SP2, ATI Radeon 9600XT 256Mb, Catalyst 5.2 drivers
July 25, 200520 yr I had this exact same problem... make sure "fast-write" is on. I know all the forums say to turn it off... dont. Leave "fast-write" on. That fixed my FS stutter problems.Gigabyte (Something or other, dont remember right now)AMD XP32001Gb DDR400ATI X800 XL 256MbAM.
July 25, 200520 yr Author Ok thanks for the advice i will try it, can anyone else report having fast writes OFF and experiencing stutters compared to fast writes ON and smooth taxing? Thanks!
July 25, 200520 yr Joe,I've tried with FastWrites on and off and it makes no difference at all on my rig. I've also tried eliminating every unwanted process using EndItAll and the Task Manager and still no difference. Annoying thing is that the frame rates always stay high but the sim just judders away to itself. It's infuriating but I got better overall performance from an Athlon 1Ghz machine with an Nvidia FX5600 than this Intel-based one, even though I had to peg frame rates at 15. We must be overlooking something obvious.AndyB
July 26, 200520 yr Each time I've seen this complaint, it has has been something to do with Force Feedback...Try turning it off. Bert
July 26, 200520 yr Author I don't have any force feedback equipment, are you saying it may still be a setting that is enabled, because i doubt its on for me anyway!!
July 27, 200520 yr Bert/Joe,The only place I know where force feedback is defined is in the aircraft.cfg files. I took out the whole section in my aircraft but it made no difference. I can't see anything in fs9.cfg about it.AndyB
July 27, 200520 yr Sorry, that may just be a red herring... but others have had lcuk with this solution... read:http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...ing_type=search Bert
July 27, 200520 yr Hey guys,I posted some problems that I have been having since going to XP PRO. Will you guys look at my post and give some ideas on a cure for my problem. It's almost been a week and flight sim is currently un-flyable. Needless to say I am desperate.http://forums.avsim.net/dcboard.php?az=sho...=9686&mode=full
July 27, 200520 yr Joe, one more thought... do you have traffic enabled?I find that while taxiing, I can get stutters when new aircraft on the ground load up. This can occur when you change direction and a new area of the airport comes into view.. Bert
July 27, 200520 yr Author I should try with traffic off just for the test, i fly with 100% AI and as it doesn't affect anything in the air i'm sure it does on the ground.
