December 18, 200223 yr Commercial Member Hi all,Some post release issues have been identified. They are:- Failure of weather to show in FS in certain situtations. Possible reasons: FSUIPC Run Options, ADVDISP problems, Video driver problems, TAF processing bug. Try disabling TAF processing, not using Run Options, and changing the order you load FS2002, wxRE and any other add-ons. Rebooting sometimes also clears this up.- TAF processing bug with certain TAF reports associated with PROB elements, causing weather to not update and process properly. Disabling TAF processing when encountered will temporarily fix it.- Inability of some users to download offline weather file sets. Sometimes attributed to AOL. Workaround is to manually create your own cycle file set following the existing .wxd structure and associated file formats.- Problem with frame rates dropping in certain situations. We believe this is caused by other factors not associated with wxRE but we are investigating.- Inability to see FSFlightMax radar returns in certain situations. A new FSFlightMax update will be released soon which will address this and wxRE UI routines will be improved to help prevent improper settings.I am working hard on an update to address these issues and any others than come up. I am also enhancing some features and working on international winds aloft. I expect to have an update ready for BETA testing right after the holidays, and released shortly thereafter. Thank you for all your help identifying these problems and for your patience while I work them out.-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 19, 200223 yr Hiya DamianSo, to clarify, non-US winds aloft implementation will appear in the next beta to be released am I right? Thanks for a great product!Tom
December 19, 200223 yr Author Commercial Member Hi Tom,If you are asking for a promise or guarantee, sorry can't do it! :)"I am working hard on an update to address these issues and any others than come up. I honestly don't expect winds aloft to be done completely until late January but as I said it's being worked on and who knows what kind of progress we shall see over the holidays?Thanks!-Damian

Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyThe next-generation weather environment simulation for FS2002!http://hifi.avsim.net/activeskyhttp://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/images/wxrebeta.jpg]
[/table://http://hifi.avsim.net/activesky/ima...]
[/table Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation Technologies
December 19, 200223 yr Hello Damian,The item I want to address is a very minor one:I always find it strange when objects still cast shadows when there is a big cloudy overcast or any other kind of bad weather. Wouldn't it be more realistic to disable aircraft and/or scenery object shadows? These options can be enabled/disabled in the graphics settings, so they might also be adjustable by wxRE?? In my opinion this would make the 'look and feel' of weather effects even more realistic. A side effect might be an increase of FPS during very cloudy conditions, if the user normally has shadows enabled....Regards,Hakkie
December 19, 200223 yr Thanks Damian! No rush, of course but wxRE will be pretty damn good when European winds aloft get implemented!Cheers
December 20, 200223 yr Yes, the disable shadows idea is an excellent one. Given that clouds drop frame rates anyway, this would definately be a realistic way to increase them up a little again, while keeping everything just that little bit more realistic. Great idea!

I have been experiencing this problem first with FSMeteo and now with ActiveSky WxRE. The problem started only after installing Radar Contact and using AdvDisp. I do not use FSUIPC Run Options. I have had the problem occur with Radar Contact not running. The common thread (for me) seems to be AdvDisp and I just had the problem despite using AdvDisp 1.97.I have emailed several files to Peter Dowson and also described as best I could what is going on when the problem develops.-michael
December 28, 200223 yr Hi Damian and thanks for your efforts!Just to remind you of us italian users. The problem has something to do with International settings. In italian it's impossible to download offline weather (nothing to do with AOL), but putting UK in your settings solves this problem. Maybe it's some silly thing like the separation symbol "," instead of "." or something similar. Thanks!
January 1, 200323 yr Damian,First Happy New Year. Hope you've seen the other threds about winds aloft being used as destination ATIS winds. Are you considering this a bug? I'm not using Radar Contact. My other add-ons are My Traffic and FS Navigator. Would appreciate any help or advice you can provide. January 1, 200323 yr I think this is a great program, esp. in conjunction with FSW-SE. I could take screenshots every flight.I wish it would report the local wind when I tune in a Wx station on my own, instead of parroting back my current wind. I'm also a little confused about the time feature. Let's say I want to flightsim at night. Can I use the live feature if I set the flight up for daytime?
