Phantom wake turbulance

Featured Replies

Hi,I was approaching EGLC tonight when I encountered some wake turbulance, I checked the AS2004 window to be sure, and it said wake turbulance encountered. The thing is there was no other planes around for miles, I checked the TCAS, had a look around externally, but there was just no other planes. How can I get wake turbulance from no plane?.CheersDan.

Me too. I was at about 200 agl on approach to kpdx and suddenly got a huge bunt that disconnected my a/p and send me seriously sideways. No traffic anywhere.Perhaps no more troubles since the updateJeff

Hi,Strange indeed, since the wake turb engine only activates when there is an aircraft within 2 miles and near your flight path! Perhaps FSUIPC is sending different information here. Have you modified your default FSUIPC AI parameters if you have the registered version?Damian ClarkHiFi Simulation SoftwareDeveloper of ActiveSkyhttp://www.hifisim.comhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/as2004betateam.jpg

Hi,Yeah, I thought it was wierd, no I have not changed anything in the AI parameters in FSUIPC.This is the only time it has happened on many flights with AS2004, but it certainly happened.CheersDan.

Hi, I haven't had any spurious wake turbulence since, although I did get cleared into YBBN yesterdayin a 734 behind a dash8 which put out wake turbulence like it was a dc-10. No matter what I did, the ap kept disconnecting.regards,Jeff

Damian, I also just encountered wake turbulence when I shouldn't. I have not modified any FSUIPC setting. I'm using latest registered version of FSUIPC and the alpha release of AS2004.The wake turbulence happened on short finals into LFPG and it was caused by an AI aircraft flying about 1 NM behind me. When it happend I immediately switched to AS2004 and confirmed the message 'wake turbulence effect finished' or something like that. I guess this should only happen in case of AI in front of my aircraft. Does AS2004 activate wake turbulence as soon as an AI aircraft gets within a 2 NM radius of my plane??

Not bumping, just wondering if I'm the only one that encounters wake turbulence from AI aircraft flying behind me. If so, did I set something wrong somewhere?

Hi AllI experienced this turbulence as well - don't know if it's a wake turbulence. I got this on some landings, starting on very short final at around 300-100ft AGL but neither any other landing or departing aircraft infront of me nor coming closer than 5nm.I switched wake turbulence off now and will do some test flights to see if this is really caused by the wake turbulence simulation.Besides this: AS2004 is an amazing product and I am sure it will be outstanding after the release of MR1 :-beerchug
