  1. Entering a ZFW into the relevant box on the PERF INIT page will NOT load this weight on your aircraft !! You have to load your weight on the FS ACTIONS/PAYLOAD page. I think the most logical way (dispatch gets the weights from load planning and not the other way round ^_^ ) would be to load the 777 using the PAYLOAD page and then enter the payload into PFPX (and make sure the ZFWs in the 777 and PFPX are matching.) Or you enter your desired payload in PFPX and play around in the 777 with the LOAD LEVEL percentage from the PAYLOAD page until the ZFW matches your ZFW you planned in PFPX. That way the PMDG 777 internal logic distributes the weights evenly.
  2. Had exactly the same thing happening to me today ... was cruising on a westbound NAT on FL360 and after returning to the cockpit after my rest the FMC progress page showed me step climb to FL400 step NOW, but the max FL calculated and shown in the FMC was FL398
  3. That's the initial cruise altitude ... of course they're doing step climbs. Staying on FL280 for 15hours would be insane. Check the tracking at flightaware and you can see the flight levels changing during flight
  4. Apologies for that ... immediately realized that my tone was pretty rude so I had already edited my post ... so ... sorry for that
  5. this thread is about people how NEITHER got an email NOR have the link in the order details
  6. Yes - same here. Have submitted a support ticket. Hopefully this will be resolved asap.
  7. Hillarious, Chris ! Thanks for giving me a good early morning laugh ! Loved the Luke Pabari part about flying from the FOs seat
  8. Dear John, to be very honest I was badly looking forward to version 5 and I was very anxious that the long silence could mean the end of version 5. But now, after reading this, I have to say I am very happy. Who cares about a new version of a software when after such a long time of suffering things for you and your family finally turn good again ? I am sure this is the right move and there is nothing selfish about it ! All the best and many happy years for you and your family !
  9. Receding horizons are a lovely thing, aren't they ? <_< The problem was fixed, several people test run it and confirmed it's fixed, but they really neeeeeed a hundred more people to test it for another week to confirm it, of course they found and will find another few nitpicky things which they will fix right away and break a few other things by doing so and so it's going on and on and on... That's what I was talking about in the release date contest ... they're so badly stuck now in their perfectionist death spiral that they are SCARED like hell to release it because somebody could find out it was NOT perfect on release (oh no!!), so let's better test it and tweak it and finetune it for another couple weeks to come ... and repeat... and repeat ... There WILL be bugs found after release, no matter how long you hold it back and no matter what you do. So just release it and leave the nitpicky crap to the hotfixes and services packs it'll need anyway. We are absolutely going to love it ? Now you tell us something, huh ? -_-
  10. Release date ? .... uhm ... never, actually ... sorry guys ... the NGX was the last release from PMDG before they got stuck in the "we need to reach perfection before release" death trap. Whenever they reach a point where they think about a possible release they figure they could get roughly 0.001% closer to perfection if they hold it back another couple of weeks, and after those weeks have passed they figure a bit of tweaking and tuning here and there for another couple of weeks could get them even closer to perfection... One day however they will figure that they can stop working because nobody uses FSX any more after Microsoft has dropped compatibility for 32bit applications in 256bit Windows14 a couple years before Disclaimer: this post is not supposed to be taken serious ... just in case
  11. Don't !! There's no point in ruining your social life and your health just to get a flight sim addon out a bit earlier ... :drinks:
  12. What a question ... ! Onto my harddrive, quick !
  13. Hi autopilot, your ground speed has absolutely zero relevance to your flight ! Only your KIAS during climb and Mach number once you reached cruise Mach should matter. So in a 747 your climb speed should be probably 320-330KIAS above 10000ft until you reach your cruise Mach of about .84-.86 in the upper 20s flightlevels and then you will hold your Mach number, while your KIAS will drop again as you gain altitude and will probably as low as 250-260KIAS in the upper 30s flightlevels. The ground speed you will achieve with this depends from your cruise altitude and the speed of the air mass around you. So a stiff head wind might lower your ground speed to 400kts or even lower while a tail wind of the same speed will push you along with much more than 500kts. But this of course will only happen if you fly with real weather and well simulated winds aloft. As you mentioned flaps: Getting your flaps up solely depends on your speed and the aircraft weight and not on your altitude ! Cheers Albert
  14. Outstanding ! Thanks for clarification ! Looking forward now for public release B)
  15. Thanks for your valuable input Chuck, that sounds very promising
  16. Well ... quite obviously I was not talking about future FSX service packs that might break the product, I was talking about future service packs of the 732 which might break it on SP2, even if it worked initially.
  17. For a very simple reason: It might work in the beginning, but any future service pack might break it for SP2 - and then your money back guarantee is gone and there you are left with a broken addon because it's not officially supported. Been there once, will never risk my money on something like this again. Enjoy the aircraft, I am sure it's great, but personally I will not spend my money on this, and so will probably many SP2 users.
  18. Also a clear "stay away" from my side ... CS offerings always needed a certain amount of tweaking and keeping 1-1.5 eyes closed to "oversee" apparent glitches systems and FDE wise, that's fine for me to a certain extent. But the 732 IMO crossed the border to pure frustration. Graphics - beautiful. But that's about it. - PDCS: you can't operate it without forcing FSX to crash. Great "feature" ! - FDE: ridiculously overpowered. I tried a mod I found on the CS forums (not sure if it's the one others here have pointed out) to lower static thrust - this only had the result of the 732 being totally underpowered. 50% N1 to taxi, not able to climb much higher than FL200. If others found a mod that actually worked pls post a link. Would be willing to give it another chance before I consider the money for this thing a loss. - autopilot: had this on two flights that the autopilot didn't let me descend. Even after I switched off the elevator channel the trim was fighting badly against me trying to get into descend. Others have reported this on the CS forums as well. Some guys pointed out that this obviously is related to the FSX version - FSX acceleration works, FSX SP2 causes this trouble. You can work around it by leaving the elev channel on and using the keyboard shortcuts for trimming up/down. Besides from that the usual CS "features" they add to each and every addon, like e.g. the neverending turning of knobs when you accidentially use the mouse wheel on it, disappearing sounds, dead battery when you don't happen to have licenced FSUIPC and set "eternal battery" etc etc etc
  19. I usually use 0.8 - 0.9 depending on the aircraft. I prefer to rather move the viewpoint back a bit than zooming out more than 0.8, because to me the distortion occurring at zoom levels of 0.7 and below just ruins immersion.
  20. Sure, Ryan, but you didn't. You didn't make your fans believe that the 777 was "virtually ready" 6 months ago because you KNEW it wasn't. That's the difference to the Flightsimsoft people, who - judging from what they are doing - must be extremely smart people ! But still they made people believe for the past 2 years now that PFPX was more or less ready and release was imminent within a reasonable time frame for several times. It was christmas 2011, then it was summer/fall 2012, then it was christmas again, then shortly after, and now, 5 months after christmas, it is still "virtually ready" since the last "update" 2 months ago and obviously despite being "virtually ready" still adding functionality as per Pierre's latest posting. And I am confident that during summer we will get another "update" that they are aiming for another christmas release. I'm a software tester for a living and I know how things sometimes can go wrong when everybody thought everything was finished. In a hobby environment like flight simulation most people don't care if something takes a couple months longer than expected, or maybe even a year. But telling people constantly that your product is more or less ready and then pushing it forward year after year without basically communicating with your potential customers is beyond me.
  21. Great - very much appreciated, Tom !
  22. oh noooo... I was looking forward to see a recording of Robert's speech uploaded any day now ... and now you are telling us there is no recording because the guys supposed to do it FORGOT to press the record button ? :( No saved video from the streaming ? Not even just an audio recording ?
  23. Hey Pellebus, I feel your pain ... I've seen comments from some people who hat fatal errors after installing without admin rights. Make sure you start the installer as administrator once your exceeded number of installs got sorted. Good luck !
  24. Your description sounds like a Boeing B-377 Stratocruiser ... though it's not been the last piston engined intercontinental airliner
  25. allright - after 1,5 hours of clicking the install button finally it got activated ... up to the wild blue yonder B)
