I'm really bored reading people moaning about the cosy of ASV. If you think it's too expensive don't buy it. Don't take up space on here with your gripe. Perhaps those from the "land of the cheap" expect to have everything at a knock down price. I bought ASV for an equivalent

Bingo Victor,Unfortunately, anytime a developer comes out with a newer version of an add-on, you get the "regular" crowd that #### about the cost. I buy the vast majority of the add-ons that are released. Most of them I am happy with. A few I am not. I can say that those that have the quality and support equal to Active Sky will ALWAYS get my $$$$.I put AS in the same class as DreamFleet, PMDG, LDS etc, and that's a high class when it comes to product development and support.

$28 is insane. I just purchased 4.5 nary a month ago because I wanted to give this company business. $28 from my wallet ain't happening. I'll go buy from Flight1 and get Flight Environment for $23. I'll get the METARs from you, and the good graphics from them for $6 less.

HI, We did announce this in April for the release of ASV. Using active sky 4.5 and flight environment won't give you the weather from ASV, there will be no more feature added in active sky. ASV will have new feature internal engine and external not listed in the release.Read the Author Peter Wilding from FLight 1 environment.Hi there Chris and all,I would just like to add a few words to back Chris and Damian up with the promise we are indeed working with Active Sky to ensure customers for both products get full compatibility and full function of both products.I have to say I'm really impressed with ASV and I would encourage all current FE customers and future customers to get ASV. Well worth it and a definite improvement of fuction over version 4.5The clouds in ASV are excellent and it's not about which is better, comparing to FE, or which has FPS advantages. It's about personal taste; In theory there will be only very minor FPS differences for most people and should not be an issue. It's about more choice and freedom of choice. If anyone has AS 4.5 and FE I promise you upgrading to ASV is well worth it and IMHO it makes FE look even better and nothing to me looks better than good clouds and good water together. I had a blast today Island hoping from Puerto Rico to the Virgins. The weather with ASV was stunning. Never looked so convincing to me.What everyone should appreciate is the combination of FE and ASV will make BOTH PRODUCTS WORK BETTER, because the environment and clouds and weather are eveywhere. Really good value for money if you think about it.I've read on this thread about $28 being steep. IMHO it's very good value for money because it's not an upgrade but a new build.Certainly what I've seen so far in ASV in stunning and and FE customer I'm sure will be delighted with ASV and has the promise it will soon be fully functional with ICS cloud selection; so you get my vote; buy this product with confidence.Peter Wilding (developer of Flight Environment)ThanksChris WillisHiFi Simulation Software Team Developerhttp://www.hifisim.com/images/asv_dev_team.jpgFreeware Addons for FSW GROUP

I bought FE and AS 2004.5 on the same day not even a month ago. I knew that ASV was coming but wanted the better weather generation a month ago. As mentioned in a previous post, I too hoped that maybe the upgrade would be around $20. The fact is it's not, it's $28. That's a difference of $8. To me, that equates to about 5 minutes in a real C172. What I'm getting is hours of sim time with a much better experience. So why worry about $8, as long as the developers keeps their word and provide the future enhancements that I have no doubt they will. I know to some $8 may mean the next meal, but if so, then maybe they have their priorities a little messed up to start. Just my $ .02 worth.

I'll get the METARs from you, and the>good graphics from them for $6 less.Yeah, it is not really the price, at least for me.I purchased AS2004'5 a week ago amid much connfusion on my part born of a poor marketing system. In retrospect, much of the ill will could have been advoided if all purchasers of AS2004.5 , (say, in the last month or so) were supplied with a message (before they bought it) that from this point forward, until the release of ASV, if they purchased AS2004.5, they would recieve a $28 discount on ASV if they so chose to purchase it, due to its impending release. That way, everyone would have known exactly where they stood and could have made an INFORMED decision."Flight 1" has already admerably addressed this problem months ago in a very fair and infomative way concerning the impending release of "UT USA" which duplicates their "USAroads".Of those say we are just ungrateful whiners and such, I suspect that they have purchased AS2004.5 some time ago and are understandably very happy with the upgrade windfall they will receive!I will probably purchase/upgrade to ASV in the end. However, I still must voice my disapointment (yes, disapointment, not anger) with their marketing practices that has obviously ruffled many feathers unlike any FS add-on software/upgrade release that I can remember. Finally for those who say "there are alway a few of those", I have been purchasing/upgrading software ever since the "VIC-20" and this is the very fist time I have ever voiced an opinion on this sort of matter!

I knew that a new version was imminent, but knowing excatly what the cost to me would be might have been nice. Hopefully that's good feedback for next time.

Also putting $27 in perspective - it costs me $100 AN HOUR to rent a real Cessna 172 - just one hour. I use Activesky on every single flight I make in FS, it could be $100 and I'd still pay it (please don't do that next time though lol!). Considering the hours of use I get out of it, it is well worth the investment.

Bad example. The car dealer would allow you to trade in your old car against the new one, bringing the price down considerably.
