Damian:This is awesome; fantastic upgrade and major gratitude for the GE integration.Quick question: for AS6+WideFS users... how will the GE Pro 2.0 upgrade recognize the WideFS installation? Is it possible? If so, any tips for doing so?Thanks for any information; and major thanks for the great support.

Think I spoke too soon. From the revisions.txt file in SU5:5. Added new option: Force WideFS Integration Mode. When using ASv6 on a wide client in a wideFS environment, this option will force the creation of the required files needed by GE PRO to allow proper ASv6 weather data access even though GE PRO is not found on the local machine.I'll give it a go. Thanks a bunch for this!

This is really great! Thanks for everything!

Hi JT,And just to add: there is a new document titled "ASv6 and GE Pro Integration" that will explain the newest feautres and set up. That should help and then of course you can start a new thread here if need be!Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi Damien & Jim,Great job as usual. Do I understand it correctly that with the SU5 on a WideFS machine, there is no longer the need to run the active radar connector from the FS9 PC? That this is done during the installation of SU5 on the WideFS PC automatically? I usually don't install the active radar module just to keep FPS at a max but did I read somewhere that this has been re-tuned a bit? If this is indeed the case, should I take the time to re-evaluate it's performance on my rig?FWIW, I would have taken the time to hunt down the answer myself but I'm too busy at the moment contemplating the purchase GE-Pro. Only the fact that they (the GE developers) have fully colaborated with the AS team is the main reason that I've finally decided to get GE-Pro. I just hope it's worth their asking price of $50 which seems a bit steep but I can't be judgemental with having seen it in action.

Where can I find new document titled "ASv6 and GE Pro Integration"Thanks,Richard Northey

FWIW, I found it under the Start Button -> All Programs -> Active Sky 6 Menu

Hi Al,Thanks for that! I checked the Readme and this has not been changed unless I am mistaken. Damian will come along and correct this if I am wrong!Edit: I think what we changed is the scanning of the config file and error correction from within this file.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Cool, thanks... I will re-run the radar-connector now. FWIW, I have purchased GE-Pro and installed it on my widelcient and ASv6 has been updated to SU5 with the GE-Pro button now appearing. I also noted the new GE-Pro based options within ASv6 and checked those appropriatlly. Then, performing my initial GE-Pro activation, I decided to install 5 sets of ground textures. Well, let me tell you, the machines will be running all night now building the ground sets but I hope to get a lot of randomness influanced by the ASv6 weather. I'm just surprised how long it takes to generate a decent number of ground texture sets. A total of 25 sets with 25 to 30 minutes to process each set. Guess it's time for some beer and a good night sleep to get up and geek in the morning.:-beerchugLater...

Thanks for the help. I found it.Richard

Hi Al,Glad things are working out. Yes, ground sest do take some time. Sky sets are very fast. It is due to the number of textures involved. Always best to start at night and then remember to defrag, because much file writing is taking place.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

  • 2 weeks later...

Was just about to ask this question about integration between ASv6 and GEPro II and how to best set up both programs but should have guessed you already put together a document describing this...you're simply the best guys :-)Have just built a new FS rig to play with now when the summer is over here in Sweden and thought I would try to have the FS installation as clean and visually good looking as possible this time. The hardware:Intel Core2 Duo E66002 GB RAMSATA300-Raid0ATI X1900XTXThe software:FS9ASv6FSGenesis MeshMyWorld2004 - Landclass2005Ultimate TerrainGEPro IIHave been busy creating texture sets in GEPro all day ;-) but will go on a maiden flight tonight and looking forward to fly in a stunning environment!!A big thanks to all you guys developing these kind of amazing add-ons for FS!!!
