Getting ASV new version to detect FSX

Featured Replies

I am having the same issues as many here. I had AS6 in the FS9 folder and them applied the update, still would not show up in FSX. It did recognize when FSX was started and closed, but would not update positon or weather. Tried reinstalling FSUIPC again, no joy. Tried to manually point it to FSX in the ini file, still no luck.I finally uninstalled and installed outside of FS, unfortunately the update does not give you the option of where to install and placed the update in the FS9 folder, but I see it still sees it since my version is 6.5, but I still have no info inside FSX. Any other suggestions?Regards, MichaelKDFW

Hi folks,Just a thought... Did you all (which having this issue) tried FSX with the previous version of ASV6 and FSUIPC4, as I did, prior to udpate with 6.5? I mean we all saw the message that ASV was updating the FSX weather stations. Maybe it's stupid, but I was wondering if it could be related to the way we did upgrade because I didn't saw the updating message of the weather stations in FSX after I did the upgrade to ASV6.5. Could we try to delete the file or puting back the original one from FSX?Ok, I try to help lolChris

Okay, I tried one more thing. I uninstalled AS then reinstalled from the start putting AS6 in a folder of its own. C:Program FilesActiveSky. Each time I installed the original and each update, I started AS6 and FS2004, changing none of the options and leaving them at default. Both worked as advertised. Then I installed the AS6.5 update, loaded AS and FS2004. It works as before. Detecting the FS active and sending weather data to FS2004.I exited both then loaded AS6.5 and FSX. No luck. AS6.5 sees the FS as active but sends no weather data to FS and leaving the weather at the default location of KSEA regardless of where I am sitting. I then changed the FS9PATH thing to C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesMicrosoft Flight Simulator X and reloaded AS6.5 and got the message about not finding the folder, so I used the screen that popped up to point AS6.5 to the correct folder. Still no luck.I don't know where to go from here as I've tried everything I know how to do. I'll just use FSX weather and keep checking this forum in case someone finds a solution.John

One more thing. I got that message when loading AS6.5 about detecting I'm on a network and to be sure I've pointed AS6.5 to the correct folder. The network I have is a simple one at home connecting my wife's computer and mine through a Linksys router via Network Magic. However, all FS and AS files are on my computer and reference no files on her's.Could there be a problem there? Do I need WideFS? Does the light really go out when you close the refrigerator door? Never mind that last one. lolJohn

Hi John,Across a network you have always needed WideFS.Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

Hi Jim,That much I understand but it always worked before with the same network setup with FS9, just as it works now with AS6.5 and FS9. Maybe I need WideFS with FSX. I'll purchase it and see what happens. Its not expensive and good software deserves my money.JohnUpdate: I purchased and installed WideFS. I ran AR Connector for WideFS Users. A no-go again.

Hi All,One user discovered that he needed to disable: McAfee virusscan, firewall and spamkiller and then things started to work well.Thanks,Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

It's my gaming pc without any email software. I only have Fs9 and Fsx on a dedicated HD. On this computer I have 2 drives in Sata. My OS and all my add-ons on the C drive and both Fs versions on the D drive.Chris

Hi Chris,Does FS04 and ASv6.5 work?Jimhttp://www.hifisim.com/Active Sky V6 Development Team Active Sky V6 Proud SupporterHiFi Beta TeamRadar Contact Supporter: http://www.jdtllc.com/AirSource Member: http://www.air-source.us/FSEconomy Member:http://www.fseconomy.com/

>Hi Chris,>>Does FS04 and ASv6.5 work?>>JimYes Jim perfectly well with Fsuipc 4.02.What is weird, is the fact that the previous version of ASV6 worked with FSX and Fsuipc 4.01. The only problem was a significant drop in FPS during the weather writing process in FSX, maybe because I didn't unckecked "Enable ASG Auto-Submit" lol. I did the tweak just for a test while waiting for the update...Thanks for your help!!Chris

Hi Chris and Jim,Please note that Fsuipc 4 (and beyond) are for FSX only. For Fs2004 the most recent Fsuipc is version 3.70.BestEdmundo

Hello Again Everyone,Thank you for your continued patience...We have been working on this issue as top priority over the past couple days. Unfortunately no solution has yet been found and we are still unable to duplicate this. We are learning more however..Here's what we DO know so far:- In all cases, FSUIPC is reporting 0 for user position, airspeed, altitude even though the connection is open and accepted ok along with proper FSUIPC accreditation key being sent.- In all cases, FSUIPC is also reporting that FSX has not yet been loaded (ready status) and that the user is still in the FSX UI screens. - These reports seem to indicate that FSUIPC's own interpretation of such flags are causing it to prevent updating the offsets, in turn sending out blank data to add-ons.- This is reported by 4 users thus far and appears very isolated. We are preparing some detailed information for Peter Dowson regarding this, and would appreciate if those users experiencing this can please send us a full package of debug information including:- Full system specs including any security software- FSUIPC log files for reads, writes, weather and misc (enable via the Add-ons, FSUIPC item in the FSX menu bar) while ASv6.5 has connected and is attempting to set weather. About 2 minutes of logging should do.- Windows specs (version, language)Your help is greatly appreciated! Thanks again for your patience while we continue to try and get this sorted.Best,

Hi,Thanks for the note! Can any confirm or deny this as a fix? It doesn't make sense that it would be related at all but worth confirming. Thanks!
